...the conservative that liberals hate to love...
I have libertarian aspects of my political views. I am a classical liberal (emphasis on personal liberties and respect for market economies and conservative economic values; in other words antithetical to modern liberals who are socialists or Marxists, not that there is much difference.I believe that a woman should have the right to choose whether to have a child or not, so long as she does so within the first third (to half) of her pregnancy. After that than no abortion unless the life/health of the mother is threatened or the baby is severely defective. I have one family member who refused to have an abortion, even though the family knew that the baby had no cerebral cortex at all. The brain stem was the only part of the brain that developed. The pro-life people had done a real number on her, so she went the whole term, went through the birth process and then watched the deformed baby die an hour later. I recognize that many pro-life people with disagree with me and believe that all babies should be born. Frankly, I think my position would eliminated the most egregious aspects of legalized infanticide.
I am in Haverwilde's camp on the abortion issue.
If there was ever a year I would consider voting Libertarian, this is it. Then they went and nominated Johnson and Weld. Visit Reason.com if you want to see him destroyed from the libertarian side.
