Passing through and checking in.

Greetings from fabulous rainy/sunny, if you don't like the weather, just wait a moment and it will change, Seattle.

Say, how much fun is it to a) discover during a driving, blasting rain storm that your roof leaks, dripping into your home office; b) climbing onto your roof during said rainstorm to try to pinpoint the leak; c) not find the leak and so have to cut into the only attic space in your home that does not have an access way into which the water is leaking; d) discover that the source of the leak is actually partially under an overhang(?); and e) climb back onto the roof in said howling rainstorm and use roofing tar to patch the leak? Answer: Not much fun at all. But ya do whatcha gotta do.

Speaking of Seahawk football, also not much fun this season so far. BUT, hope (not the Barry Bam Bam sort) springs eternal. A Three Pete would be nice.

Finally, as hockey is a passion of our gracious hostess, I must mention that my cousin's son, a former pro hockey player himself, got together with two of his high school hockey bum buddies and opened a brewery! Okay, it is in Eagle River, Alaska, just north of Anchorage, but still! It is called Odd-Man Rush, which is a hockey play of some sort I am told. So, if any of you are passing through Alaska, check it out. https://www.facebook.com/oddmanrushbrewing

So what is the haps with all of you? I will check in over the next months to see who still drops by.

Donald Trump?

rbb, ?

A few of us stop by every blue moon or so.
Ricvid why not take over for our wonderful hotsess (I was going to change that but decided not too.)
I hope all is well with her.

As to rbb's question: Donald Trump? my answer: he is better than any democrat running and better then most of the republicans running, and he just might break the strangle hold that the donor class of sleazy folks has, as they finance both parties.

CrabbyOldMan said...

I do not support Trump. However, I totally agree that there is no Democrat I would choose over any of the Republican possibles.

Ditto Crabby! Only Dem I respected was Webb. And I wouldn't have voted for him over any GOP candidante!

I stop by every now and again, although not really for political reasons. (I knew Ala when I was a pimple-faced, mohawk laden teen in High School just outside Philly.)

I knew as soon as Tony Romo's TWO collarbones turned into THREE that it was going to be a long football season for me.

I think I'm in the midst of a minor midlife crisis - retiring from a Motorcycle Club and transitioning from 150K miles on various Harleys to my next life as a Dual Sport rider.

I'll keep checking back (as was said above) every once in a blue moon. Thanks Rick! Hope you all are doing well...

Why bother?

Ditto on the "election" none of these "candidates" give a shit about America.

CrabbyOldMan said...

I stop by every few days too. I miss this blog. I continue to hope ALa is all right.

rbb said...

Not that it's a surprise or anything but your Ben Carson has just admitted he's a liar.

What a joke gop is!

CrabbyOldMan said...

I see that reliably blathers bilge is still blathering bilge.

Comparing a worst case Carson to either Hillary or Comrade Hussian is like comparing a hang-nail to a fractured skull (By the way, Carson is not my own first choice).

I invite the other readers to compare for them selves the slate of GOP candidates to the knaves and fools that lead the party of the clueless.

Haverwilde said...

Can you imagine a more bankrupt and brain-dead party then one that would have 'felonious Hillary' as the standard bearer?

Carson may be a joke to some, he has major weaknesses, and is not my choice, but at least he is interesting. Unlike all the 'single-digit popularity' crowd of GOP candidates. The sell-outs to big money are the curse of our systems. All the Dems and most of the GOP are in that sellout crowd. As much as I hate to say it, we may need to have Trump as President to get past the bipartisan oligarchy.

Is there anyone besides me who thinks much of the increased activities by radical muslims, Black Lives Matter and their ilk is motivated by get while the getting is good (i.e. Jug Ears still in office)? Certainly the lunatics see a high risk that the left will lose the next election.

rbb said...

Good question, crabs.
Let's as Bin Laden.

(Whatanidiot)

Haverwilde said...

Well, rbb, Obama was president when the guys got Ben Laden....

He was also president for the worst foreign policy in American History;

He is presiding over the wholesale invasion of America by hostile Muslims;

He is president offering illegal immigrants sanctuary over the objections of the majority of Americans, and contrary to federal law;

He is presiding over the most racist Justice Department in 75 years;

Crabby has a point.

Haverwilde, I have yet to see definitive proof that the great Obamonation killed Bin Laden. He said he did but unlike Saddam we never saw a body and the Seals that did the deal all got killed off. Does that sound Kosher to you? Not me.
If Trump is such a joke why is EVERYBODY right AND left turning discrediting him into a full time job. Trump is not eloquent...neither was Harry Truman. He doesn't have experience???? WUT? Does THAT sound familiar? Regardless of what you think of Trump he may be the ONE thing this country needs right now.

Haverwilde said...

Hey Anon, I don't know shit about whether Bin Laden was killed; but I will give credit in the meantime, just as I will assess blame for the disaster that has been dumped on these United States by the biggest asshole ever to be elected president.

Of all the men that could actually do something to turn this nation around, I think Trump has the best chance. He may prove me wrong. But so long as we give the decisions over to the political donor class of the self-serving plutocrats we will continue to lose this once-great nation.

CrabbyOldMan said...

I think we should all keep in mind that WE are the political donor class.
Take "big oil" for example. "Big oil" is naturally going to use its' financial clout to influence the political process to its own advantage, like, for example, fighting the hostile political movements that organize costly harassment at every opportunity.
Who controls "big oil"? The shareholders. Who are the shareholders? The mutual funds, insurance companies and other money manages are the largest portion. Where do those awful financial institutions get their money to buy the shares? From CrabbyOldMan's (and everyone elses)pension and 401K funds.
The real problem is that government in general has become large and powerful enough to effect economic outcomes, which forces everyone to play the money game. The solution seems obvious.

This place was very comfortable. Restrooms were decent. Coming here with my friends was an amazing experience. This is one of my favorite New York venues now, because of its excellent food, perfect lighting, vibrant atmosphere and great ventilation.

Happy New Year!

I hope the New Year brings us some news of ALa.

CrabbyOldMan said...

I too am dying to know how ALa is doing. Can ANYONE shed any light?

Anonymous said...

COM & Others,

ALa's doing just fine. Don't want to go into details as I respect her private life. Her three boys are getting big and keep her & hubby very busy. My impression is she had to ration her time and chose family over this blog; appropriately so.

I am curious about who Free0352 is supporting for President.

Ricvid,
How about another drive-post. Let's keep this alive until we get ALa back on here.

So the current front runner said the Bush admin lied and that Iraq was a mistake.

It feels pretty empty, but I told you so!

CrabbyOldMan said...

Nit:
Trump is the front runner, but 30-40% is still a minority. I would vote for him before I would ever vote for any conceivable Democrat candidate, but Donald is most definitely NOT my first choice.
I have always thought that the real reason that we invaded Iraq is that we could not tolerate a rogue state threatening a sizable part of the world's oil supply. Bush (and everyone else) did not "lie". Rather, they were fooled by a skillful Iraqi bluff.
The root of our problems in the region is Jug Ears' withdrawal. His other blunders have compounded the problem.
It is pretty empty.

rbb said...

Crabs, we all know you rarely get your facts straight but pretending to not know that the troop withdrawal(SOFA) was put in place by that bush guy is plain old conservative dumb. He announced it on the day he got the shoe thrown at him. You remember that, doncha, crabs?

Oh, look! Here are his actual words:

Q (As translated.) A question, Mr. Prime Minister and others, you all talked about the various gains that will come as a result of signing this agreement. But just quickly I have one question about the withdrawal of American forces. Is this going to be an accelerated process that will happen quickly and perhaps prematurely?

PRESIDENT BUSH: First of all, we're here at the Iraqi -- at the request of the Iraqi government. It's an elected government. There are certain benchmarks that will be met -- such as troops out of the cities by June of '09...

http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2008/12/20081214-2.html

Ya see there crabs, there are these things called actual facts. If you pay attention, you just might find that you're mostly wrong about things you think are true.

Good luck on your journey, crabs.
Think of me as you pull the lever for D. Trump.

CrabbyOldMan said...

I think this a very instructive article, for everyone, particularly reliably blathers bilge:
http://www.factcheck.org/2015/08/bush-clinton-play-blame-game-in-iraq/
The final paragraph reads: “We take no position on whether the U.S. should have left some combat troops in Iraq. But the record shows that Jeb Bush ignored the fact that his brother agreed to the withdrawal deadline and agreed not to leave behind a residual force. Likewise, the Clinton campaign’s response that Iraq wouldn’t allow the Obama administration to renegotiate the terms of the withdrawal ignored criticism that Obama didn’t try hard enough. That criticism isn’t just partisan. His own defense secretary said Obama wasn’t actively engaged in the negotiations and allowed the opportunity to “slip away.”
