The trigger-men risked everything

I got into a HEATED debate this weekend with 2 liberal friends over who should get the credit for the killing of bin Laden. Of course they were doing somersaults while heaping all of the praise on Obama and they were literally shocked that I wouldn’t agree with them.

We must have argued for 30 minutes – raised our voices at each other and everything. (Granted we were on an overnight trip, so plenty of booze had been flowing all evening.) They were talking about how much balls it took for him to make that decision. And I commented that it didn’t take any balls at all – his safety was never at risk. “What if he was wrong?”, they asked. “Big friggen deal – all he’s risking is the chance that he might not get re-elected.”

The trigger-men risked everything, and should be handsomely rewarded. The CIA guys (who probably waterboarded people for intel) deserve tons of credit as well, and don’t forget all of the support personnel that said mission required. As a former Grunt myself, maybe I just took it a little personally that the 1st person these guys wanted to give credit to was our beloved (cough) CIC. Or maybe part of me does dislike Obummer enough that I’d refuse to give him credit even if he deserved it. I just couldn’t help but be more than a bit taken aback by the way they were slobbing the knob of Obama without even giving a thought to the boots on the ground.

Am I wrong, or is this really the way our liberal neighbors view things?

Even if the mission turned out as balled-up as Dhimmy Carters failed Half-@ssed rescue try in Iran- the news media would have peed themselves turning it into some kind of triumph of leadership.

I can't speak for your friends but every other liberal I know appreciated the efforts of the soldiers, the pilots, the planners, the president and everybody else who helped make the mission a success. Not giving Obama at least a little credit on this deal definitely sends a signal you think he should never get credit for anything.

Haverwilde said...

Okay Jim,
When are you going to start giving Obama credit for his work in destroying the American economy?

jim marquis said...

You mean the economy where the Dow will soon be at fifteen thousand and unemployment is gradually heading downward?

Jim,
You really believe those democrat talking points.
I mean the real economy: the one where non-workers increased by 14.3 million in 5 years; the real economy where inflation is far higher than the official propaganda by a huge amount; the real economy where 142.2 million workers are supporting 102.6 million non-workers; the real economy in which we are at unemployment levels similar to the those of the Great Depression except that government can’t tell the truth about it without looking horrible; the real economy in which the very rich are getting richer, the poor are getting fat, the middle class is being destroyed, and the entrepreneurial spirit that brought prosperity to this country is disappearing under the weight of federal bureaucracy; the real economy that needs a strong private sector in order to recover, but the present administration is spending all its effort and money on the public sector. That economy is the one I am talking about. The one we actually live in, not the one manufactured in Washington D.C. and sold as Truth to all those faithful democrats.

Obama deserves some credit for begging permission from Valerie Jarrett until she finally said, "Oh, go ahead" to shut him up.

Fearthuinn min an Saille said...

I have no problem with giving him credit for continuing the search and issuing the kill order. But that's where credit stops, because the peasants further down the food chain are the ones who ultimately found him and killed him. The folks who found a way to pin point him and the guy who pulled the trigger. Obama just sat in a comfy chair and watched from several thousand miles away.

Now, where's Bush's credit for starting the search?

That's Obama's job to send people after the terrorists who try to kill Americans, he doesn't get a fucking cookie. I don't think he would have ever - ever - set anything in motion himself, Bush gets credit for that, but Bush doesn't get a cookie either. And I'm almost 100% positive we would have never heard the first peep about the mission if it had failed.

This is so sadly partisan. I'm pretty sure if Obama personally cured cancer, developed practical interstellar travel, and developed a free, cheap and portable method of generating energy, he'd still be hated by this bunch.

CrabbyOldMan said...

Nit:
No he wouldn't be.
The problem is, Comrade Hussian has done NOTHING POSITIVE and his actual "accomplishments" are harmful to everyone, even his clueless base.

Haverwilde said...

Nate just continues the leftist practice of vomiting out negative propaganda, and attacks on the more wholesome members of American society. The only reason most of us despise the Nation’ Corrupter and Chief is because of his actions. He lies. He cheats. His governments acts illegally; and through it all, you and the rest of his despicable sycophants, just continue to love and support him.
We might as well call him Jim Obama Jones. You are drinking his Kool Aid, and killing not only your future but the rest of ours as well.
Truly a job you and he can be proud of,..... if you are a fascist, America hating, liberal tyrant.

Wage Slave said...

"He lies. He cheats. His government acts illegally.." Geeze Haverwilde, I would be interested in your views on the Bush administration. And the negative propaganda and 'hate vomit' is spewing from your posts - and CrabbyOldMan - what a liar. 'Comrade Hussain'. Please, try and make an argument instead of re-hashing Rush's cute little phrases. I don't love Obama - he's got flaws for sure. Of course the biggest one is the Republican wingbats in congress.

Hoss said...

A rabid leftist using the tag Wage Slave is just chock full of irony.

Nate, if Obama ever does anything remotely positive I'll give credit where credit is due, but so far, nothing. He's a massive fuck-up. And the lefties are acting like Obama was the point man and trigger on the bin Laden raid. Please.

Haverwilde said...

Well Wage slave, you are half right.

“He lies. He cheats. His government acts illegally." Yes, and I stand by every word. I notice you don’t contest any of it.

“Geeze Haverwilde, I would be interested in your views on the Bush administration.”
Bush was a disaster as a president. His statist positions eroded our freedoms. His actions continue to haunt the American scene.

And the negative propaganda and 'hate vomit' is spewing from your posts

You will notice that my ‘propaganda’ has never been refuted by you or by Obama’s loyal sycophants. The difference between Obama, and the GOP is the speed with which our freedoms are eroded.

Continue to support the most corrupt administration in modern American history and you too, will deserve your chains, and your slavery. You are the instrument in the creation of a fascist America. Good luck with your that.

Nate said...

A broader question:

Had Osama been killed under the Bush Administration, would you have viewed Bush as entirely, partially, or not at all responsible?

And the negative propaganda and 'hate vomit' is spewing from your posts

LOL, really!?!? I'm pretty calm here for the most part, and while I admittedly occasionally troll, I'm usually the one asking the questions not making the nasty comments .

Haverwilde said...

That's right Nate you just ask questions. I guess I should do the same.
Do you still rape your dog?
Do you still masterbate to Obama's picture?
Have you quit spreading your feces on the floor of your bathroom?
Now I am really calm, and just asking questions.....
You rarely discuss. How about, oh never mind.....

Wage Slave:
I don’t think I have listened to Rush Limbaugh in over a year.
If I really am a liar, perhaps you will indulge me by pointing to one of my lies.
“Comrade Hussein and his commissars” and “the Messiah and His Disciples” describe the politician perfectly. If it makes you feel any better, I suppose we could call him “Woodrow”. Wilson was also an arrogant, opinionated delusional leftist, but I don’t think he and his supporters stole as much as Chicago’s “One” and his supporters have.
Nit:
The “credit” for killing Osama goes to all the faceless people behind the scenes.
It is NOT a matter of giving either Bush or Comrade Hussein “credit”.
The FAILURE to give the final approval would have been a matter of EXTREME DISCREDIT, like the failure to pull a drowning child out of a pool.
Most of your questions and comments are naive, ignorant and sometimes utterly stupid. Does that help you understand why you get the nasty comments?

free0352 said...

Bush is only slightly more responsible for the capture and execution of Saddam Hussein as Obama is for Bin Laden.

And the only reason for that is Obama himself says he would not have sent troops to Iraq to capture him.

In the end, it was the operators who caught both.

All the politicians did was give them permission. That isn't much.

Zelda said...

I give Bush more credit than Obama for bin Laden's death. Obama is pretty hands off and has a hard time getting anything right. Maybe one day Leon Panetta will spill his guts.

Zelda said...

Oh and Wage Slave: Are you trying to actually have a discussion? Because dismissing anything you don't agree with as coming from Rush Limbaugh is an intellectually vacant way to begin and will only get you mocked.

Wage Slave said...

I would love a discussion - at some points this blog seems quite capable of that - unlike most wingbat sites. However, the petty name-calling and simultaneous hypocrisy is laughable. Crabby Old man is such a joke!

To flagrantly dismiss the decision to go into Pakistan and take out Osama as an easy decision not requiring considerable political risk (balls) - not mention the REAL risk to the people who did it, is beyond petty partisanship. To dismiss off-hand all of the potentially positive signs in the economy as artificial and propaganda, is delusional at best - and dishonest at the least.

You give Bush more credit than Obama? What a joke. You obviously dont remember how he simply gave up caring and wasnt worried about where he was. I can find the news conference for you. Ahh, but I'm sure you will say that was just part of the Bush genius (sic)- that he was 'pretending' not to care and just waiting for the next president to come in and finish his master plan.

The petty name calling directed at Obama is all Rush Limbo and his clones do on the radio - so of course when you REPEAT them, I will call it out. C.O.M may not have listened to him in more than a year - but he still cites him with his garbage posts - 'Comrade' - give me a break - you clearly don't understand what you refer to.

Haverwilde said...

"Wage Slave said...

Irony. No discussion just the name calling and empty blather from you and the rest of the 'useful idiots' on left.

If you want to discuss, say something. Defend this Administration corruption, without say..."But Bush was worse..."
Defend borrowing 42 cents of every dollar spent, with out saying "Well Bush did started it"

Tell us how you really want to end American freedoms, and why. Tell us why an Obama fascist state is so much better than the mess Bush left.

You won't. You can't. You will ask your questions, troll for responses, get those responses, and then continue the name calling.

You can accept all the credit you want for the destruction of the American economic engine, and the bastion of freedom we once were.

Go ahead gloat. You won. Your side is busy destroying American. Good on you.

I hope you enjoy your fucking future, asshole!

Wage Slave said...

fascist state? You expect anyone to take you serious and spend time articulating a real discussion and position when YOU resort to that level of nonsense? Empty blather? Talk about irony! More like hypocrisy. But those on the right never could get that.

Red Neck Reactionary said...

Wage Slave,
Okay, so you don't like Obama referred to as a 'fascist.'
What about some of the other discussion points?
Pick any liberal vs less liberal issue and make some cogent comments.
And try avoiding denigration let's see if we can have a discussion.

Hoss said...

I listen to Rush. Funny how the left gets so pissed at him when all he does is throw the left's words and actions right back in their faces.

Also funny how Wage Slave wants a discussion when typically all he/she does is lob bombs. And we definitely get hypocrisy: like how the left bitched and moaned endlessly when Bush used to golf because we had men and women at war, but when Obama doubled W's golf outings in half the time, we got crickets chirping. About how how Gitmo is still open, drone strikes, transparency, lobbyists, spending,.....you got to be shitting me if you don't think we know what hypocrisy is - try to pull the telephone pole from your own eye.

CrabbyOldMan said...

I do exactly.
I have noticed for years that the truth is always the most sensitive nerve.

To flagrantly dismiss the decision to go into Pakistan and take out Osama as an easy decision not requiring considerable political risk (balls) - not mention the REAL risk to the people who did it, is beyond petty partisanship.

Firstly, we were already going into Pakistan. Obama was continuing the covert operations of the Bush administration. I guess it was ballsy of him considering he was supposed to be the anti-war President, but then you Lefties are pretty big hypocrites on the subject and won't hold him accountable, so it wasn't exactly a risk.

Secondly, to give credit to Obama for taking a political risk is just mindless personality worship. And sadly, it originates with Obama, himself. Remember his speech after bin Laden was killed? I, I, I.... He really thinks he's the crunch in your toast and you encourage it. It's kind of weird.

To dismiss off-hand all of the potentially positive signs in the economy as artificial and propaganda, is delusional at best - and dishonest at the least.

Hahahahaha! "Potentially Positive." Obama has really sucked you in.

You obviously dont remember how he simply gave up caring and wasnt worried about where he was.

I remember very clearly. And I still give him more credit. Everything from the intelligence to the technology originated under Bush. Obama delegates. He isn't really paying that much attention. He got politically lucky on the backs of real heroes and that's about it.

The petty name calling directed at Obama is all Rush Limbo and his clones do on the radio

Oh grow a pair. *Sob* "Rush Limbaugh called me a mean naaaaame"... as if you Lefties haven't gone off the deep end with namecalling. And you know what? I don't care. Just back your shit up and don't whine when you get it back.

I agree with almost everything being said here, except that Liberalmann would have to be a CIA member to know for a fact that no torture tactics were used to gather intel. I think Rickvid said it best - a 10-year old could have made that decision. But sure, I'll give O credit for that.

They water boarded people to get the guy who gave up Bin Laden's messenger to talk. They did worse than that with others. Some got the rendition treatment to middle eastern countries and had their finger nails pulled out, had their balls electrocuted, got the living fuck beat out of them, got cut up, had shivs stuffed under their toenails and much worse than that.

Say what you want about it, but don't lie to yourself and say it didn't happen... under Obama for that matter. He outsources that stuff to the most evil fucking people he can. How do you think he knows where to send those drones dumb ass?

CrabbyOldMan said...

How do you think he knows where to send those drones dumb ass?
From the humane, shrewd, skillful interrogation of prosecuting council in Federal Court.
Everyone knows that you get nothing from the uncivilized methods you describe.
Free0352, how could you be so wrong? How can you be so MEAN as to say that the Messiah and His Disciples would ever stoop so low? That is as bad as accusing them of STEALING!

Zelda said...

If Obama wants credit, he's going to have to acknowledge that he's had people tortured. Because as much as his fanboys would like to believe his fairy army and glitter breath made it all possible, it wasn't.

Anonymous said...

Torture had nothing to do with Bin Laden being captured. Let's get this straight; Bush is not responsible for 9/11 and the hell that America will endure forever but he is responsible for capturing someone he had no interest in going after? Riiight.

Zelda said...

Torture had nothing to do with Bin Laden being captured.

Not unless you consider waterboarding torture. We got the courier's name from Kalid Sheik Muhammed who was waterboarded. But Obama most certainly does have people tortured at black sites. That's how we get intel. Deal with it.
