Alvin Lee of Ten Years After died in Spain after "routine" surgery. I recall a great TYA song, I'd Love to Change the World that has recently been a touchstone for me about a central issue with statists. The song is about change, long before hopey changey guy. But there is this line in the song:

"Tax the rich,
Feed the poor,
'Till there are no
Rich no more."

Statists love that line. Make those eeevviiilll rich, who only have money because they stole it from others, or some such drivle, make them pay "therefairshare!" "Till there ain't no more stinkin' rich people.

Then I ask them, "Hey, stupid, if there are no rich no more, who the are you gonna tax then? The poor might have to starve or get off their duffs and work. Or maybe YOU'LL take up the rich man's burden? Not bloody likely."

Notice the line is NOT "'Till there are no poor no more." Statists don't care about the poor, but they are obsessed with the rich.

Anyhow, Bye Bye Alvin, Go Home!

That's their propaganda, but I think they hate the middle class most of all. I notice they don't object to wealth when they are the ones who have it.

Great minds and all that...
The rich are all those people that have lots of money, run small businesses, and keep America growing. Then there are the wealthy--they have lots more money and power. The control the socialist democrats and the statist republicans. They are not rich, they are way beyond rich and are democrats--Ted Turner, Soros, owners of Microsoft, Google, etc.

I don't think this is a mainstream opinion, even among leftists.

Nate, every other word from so many Dems is that the "rich*" must pay "Theirfairshare!" It makes me think of a dim witted parrot. "Theirfairshare! Theirfairshare! Skwaaaaak!" It seems to be pretty main stream to me.

*The definition of "rich" is subject to light years wide change depending upon which crowd a politician is seeking to skewer or suck up to.

I agree with Zelda. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe both Marx and Lenin hated the middle class “bourgeois” more than anyone else.

I don't think one should look to artists for sound social and political judgement. Adolf Hitler comes to mind as an example.

What about that great painter, George Dubya Bush?

Jim, I have my issues with Bush's presidency, it was a disaster. But to suggest that he was even close to the fascist who holds the presidency now, you are fucking crazy. Obama has the most corrupt administration in modern American history. He rewards his friends, threatens his enemies, and uses corrupt and illegal means to promote his propaganda.
We are witnessing the death of freedom, and the establishment of a DNC fascist state.
Enjoy it, you created it. You and all the rest of leftist sheep.

I know some rich liberals who look down their noses at people hustling to make a living. They don't want actual wealth taxed - just those who work hard and don't listen to liberals.

The same people who want me to pay higher taxes will excuse the Kennedy's for moving their wealth offshore and pretend not to understand Warren Buffett's tax dodges.

Haver,

I'm pretty sure that was exactly what most leftists were saying about the Bush Administration. Remember "you're either for us or against us" ? How about invading Iraq and the huge benefit to Halliburton? My point is not to defend either administration, but rather to provide some perspective on the accusations.

Haverwilde said...

Jim,

Yes the left referred to Bush as BusHitler a lot.

But you are stretching the truth beyond the breaking point on other things. Give it up!

Bush invaded Iraq to help Haliburton Bull!
Yes Haliburton got a lot from the war and actually did something. And Bush was chastised for it by both the left and the right.

So now, would you reference your blogging outrage at Obama for giving away Billions $$$$$$ to companies owned by bundlers for the Obama campaign, and actually delivered only Chapter 11 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy—nothing much else?

Or show me your blogging outrage at Obama for purchasing thousands of small tanks for domestic agency use? Or your outrage at his purchase of a billion rounds of ammo for domestic departmental use? I know, and you know, what you would have said had Bush made those purchases. So...... express your outrage!

"you're either for us or against us" Is almost innocuous compared to direct threats, or gifts to unions, (such as the giving the union GM) or routine exemptions from federal regulations, .....
Or gifts to corporations like GE. Your silence is deafening, and explains a lot more.

Oh what’s the use?
You are so in the pocket of the leftist fascist indoctrination, you will work willingly for the destruction of your freedoms.

Obama has the most corrupt administration in modern American history; the left is fine with that. After all he is not an honest

REPUBLICAN!

Obama captured the votes of the poor and the very wealthy. He's going to reward them at the expense of the middle class. Like most Leftists, he absolutely loathes the middle class. The Natey Boo Boos leap on media bandwagons and don't really think about it because to their limited perspective, "the rich" are anyone who is successful. But it's the middle class and entrepreneurs who prop up both the poor and the rich. Destroy the middle class and you destroy the country.

Malarkey, What about that great painter, George Dubya Bush? is lame even for you.
Anyone who supports Comrade Hussien should NEVER throw stones!

Nit, the difference is what Bram and Haverwilde say is true.

Why help Haliburton in particular? I mean, it isn't like Sea-Land, a shipping firm that got massive contracts to ship just about every kind of thing to Vietnam and was, juuuust coincidentally, majority owned by Lady Bird Johnson....Hmmmm....

CrabbyOldMan said...

Nit responds to Rickvid in Seattle with well...but...that was different...Landslide Lyndon more than made up for it with his war on poverty. Besides, old sticky fingers had no idea at all that Bird Beak had shipping interests, or, for that matter, broadcasting interests. You're just a lying Republican meanie!

Spoken like a true partisan. Your selective acceptance of reality enables you to accept the party line like a good little soldier. Remember what I said about the lack of intellectual honesty?

Pure gibberish. It's almost fun to read.

Rickvid -- You'll never hear me defend Lyndon Johnson for anything Vietnam related. Gulf of Tonkin? As manipulated as Iraqi WMDs.

COM,

NOPE.
Zelda nailed it.

Nate, do you feel like an ass for telling Crabby he is sucking off your teats? Why did you delete that comment? It was hilarious. 'Fess up. Had you been drinking?
