Sucker Punch.

I know, I know. Many of you will say this means nothing. That Colin Powell lost credibility the first time around endorsing a Community Organizer over a war hero for Commander in Chief...

But, in light of the horrific details that are slowly emerging from Libya, for Colin Powell to once again endorse a man that I honest-to-God feel is one of the worst CICs in American history is unbelievable.

When I read the story it produced such a visceral reaction.

I disagree with those that say it's just because they're both somewhat Black... I think it's personal. Some lingering vendetta against the Bush Administration. Which means that a race solidarity endorsement would have been much more honorable...

CNN Should Never Be On In A Military Establishment Again...

Ted Turner appearing on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight:

TED TURNER: I think the global policeman should be the United Nations. And I don't think we should need one. I think we should use courts the way we do in civilian life. It's time to put war and conflict behind us and move on, and start acting like civilized, educated human beings.

PIERS MORGAN: You made the point to me in the break there, more American servicemen have --

TURNER: -- are dying now from suicide over there than are dying in combat.

MORGAN: That's shocking, isn't it?

TURNER: Well, what -- no, I think it's -- I think it's good, because it's so clear that we're programmed and we're born to love and help each other, not to kill each other, to destroy each other. That's an aberration. That's left over from hundreds of years ago. It's time for to us start acting enlightened.

Not surprisingly, he has now apologized:

"I was implying that it is good that the public is more aware of these tragedies and is more averse to war and war-related fatalities.
My message has always been one of peace, I believe that we're born programmed to love and help each other, not to kill or hurt each other."

Is there anyone out there that believes this man, the very same man that married Jane Fonda, supports our troops? I believe Fonda recently said that Turner was her favorite ex-husband...the highest of compliments in the f-ed up land of Hollywood.

Many Americans shunned Starbucks over an Urban Legend about not supporting the troops...will anyone shun CNN over disgusting comments by its founder?

In Memoriam: Riceburner147

I feel like I should say something about what's been going on the last few days, but not really sure what to say...

Many of you know that "Riceburner147" (and later "JoeSixPack") that commented here for many years was my uncle. I'm pretty sure he branched out from here and commented elsewhere also...and even had his own blog at one point...so a few of you might know him better than others...

He passed away unexpectedly on Monday night. He was 57. Since he loved coming here and commenting/debating with many of you was a distraction for him when his life was crappy, I felt like I should acknowledge his passing...even though I'm still processing myself.

The Impending Defeat of a Progressive President

"The common wisdom among our partisan leftist friends, including the mainstream liberal media, is that the upcoming presidential election will be a close one. But in the end, their champion Barrack Obama will indeed emerge triumphant and send that “selfish 1%’er” Mitt Romney running back to obscurity to lick his wounds. I strongly suspect that this is more a matter of misplaced faith on their behalf than on common sense. Ronald Reagan was 9 points behind Jimmy Carter in the month prior to that election, and as we all know, the Gipper won in a landslide. I would submit to my leftist friends that they are about to experience a similar shellacking in 18 days.

When it comes down to it, common sense dictates that America will not re-elect Obama to the presidency. In 2008, Barrack Obama was a fairly unknown candidate who spoke eloquently about grandiose ideals such as generic hope and change. In 2012, President Obama now is a known candidate with a dismal record on which he has to run. The result of his record pretty much suggests that his re-election is indeed doomed. President Obama has angered or disappointed far too many people and specific demographics thereof to get the kind of support or even voter turn-out for him that he received in his first election. Let’s look at a few specifics as to why I think this portends the end of his administration accordingly.

First off, it is with a high degree of certainty that I think that those conservative folks who voted for John McCain in 2008 will not be voting for Barrack Obama in 2012. Obama thus will pick up none of those votes accordingly. That said, there are millions of independent people that did vote for Obama in 2008 when he was a well-spoken but virtually unknown quantity that are sorely disappointed in his performance who will not vote for him again in 2012. The net result will be a loss for Obama.

President Obama carried a staggering percentage of the black vote in 2012, however, he has angered many church-going black people including prominent pastors due to his recent stance in support of gay marriage. While Obama will still easily get a majority of the black vote again, he will not have anywhere near the percentage that he did in the first election. Again, this is a net loss for Obama.

The Jewish vote in America has also historically been a strong support group for the Democratic candidate, and indeed Obama captured a majority of their votes in 2008. That said, Obama’s policy of “placing daylight between America and Israel” has made Israel feel more vulnerable to ever rising anti-Jewish terrorist groups and states in the Middle East. Obama’s suggestion that a return to the indefensible 1967 borders for Israel as a starting point for negotiations with the Palestinians drew the ire of Prime Minister Netanyahu and alienated many of the Jewish people. Obama’s seeming indifference in actions, if not always in his rhetoric, towards preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon is a huge existential threat to Israel’s survival. These factors have ensured that Obama will lose a significant percentage of the Jewish vote in America for this election.

The youth vote was wildly enthusiastic and turn out for Obama was huge from this constituency in 2008. Now, four years later, 50% of college graduates are unable to find employment and enthusiasm for Obama based on his poor stewardship of the economy and job market for these young people will ensure that far fewer of them will turn out to vote, and of those that do vote, many of them will not pull the lever for Obama this time.

The Catholic vote was slightly in favor of Obama in 2008. Now with Obama’s assault on Catholicism and Americans’ first amendment right to practice their religion via his Obamacare HHS mandate, there are millions of Catholics that will not vote for Obama this time around. Another net loss for Obama.

Next, small business owners have seen a dramatic increase in their costs of doing business and are fearful of the impact that Obamacare will have on their bottom lines. These and other negative factors that Obama has created in the economy through his policies have made it so that small businesses are unable to grow and hire more people, hence the horrible unemployment numbers still. For that reason, most small business owners will not be voting for Obama on November 6th either.

Then there is the veteran vote to consider. While this group has historically been more reliably Republican in their voting tendencies, Obama has done nothing to endear those folks in the armed forces to himself. Indeed, Obama has made it even more difficult for military members to vote absentee out of fear of this, accordingly. You will see Romney get an even greater percentage of this group than McCain did in 2008. Net gain goes to Romney.

Even among the bed-wetting on-fire progressives that voted for Obama in 2008 there is much anger and resentment towards him for not going even further in his attempts to usher in a worker’s paradise. The enthusiasm gap and waning support from the most ideological of his base will suffer accordingly and result in less voter turn-out from this group too. Another net loss for Obama.

Lastly, there is the blue collar working class folks who have seen true unemployment remain above 8% for nearly all of Obama’s tenure. Gas prices, food prices, and even health care costs have dramatically skyrocketed directly due to Obama’s policies over the last four years. People ultimately will always vote with their pocket books, and Obama has not done anything to alleviate the burden for America, and particularly for this constituency group. This is a huge net loss for Obama.

The bottom line is that President Obama will lose, in some cases by huge margins, many votes from the preceding groups of American voters. There is no single group where Obama stands to gain in voter support over the 2008 election. With that said, common sense and simple arithmetic tells me that on Wednesday November 7th, President-elect Romney will be celebrating, as will a strong majority of Americans. May God bless America again accordingly!

Can You Help?

Many of you that come here know MSG Keith. What you might not know is that his 7 year old granddaughter has leukemia. You can read her story here. Little Eleanor is a warrior, but she needs help to finish this battle.

From MSG Keith:

As most of you know, my granddaughter Eleanor has been receiving treatment for leukemia. She is doing good and getting ready to progress from twice weekly IV chemo to monthly maintenance chemo. There's only one snag: Their Tricare has ended. Tricare will continue coverage for $2400 per quarter. My daughter and son-in-law have been looking for work since getting out of the Air Force with out much luck. Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital told my daughter if she doesn't have insurance by the end of the week, they won't continue treatments. The fund raiser we thought was going on in December won't happen, they picked someone else. Maybe January, if they don't pick someone else. Or Feb, if they don't pick someone else. Tricare has to be paid by the end of the week for the treatments to continue. The small inheritance they got from my Mom's house was gone after three months of rent, a few months of electrics bills, and gas back and forth to Hollywood a couple times per week.
My daughter has set up a fundraiser on Give Forward to raise money to get them by. I don't normally beg, it's unbecoming of an NCO. But tonight, I'm taking off the 1st Sgt hat, and putting on the Papa hat. I'm sitting here tonight with tear-filled eyes, asking for your help. $1, $5, whatever you can give. I would be greatly appreciative of anything you can do to help. If you know of any church groups, civic groups, etc interested in a project, please forward them the link. I know there are lot's of deserving kids out there. My granddaughter isn't more deserving than they are. But, she's my granddaughter. Please....

I know times are tough for everyone right now, but I know Keith's family would be so grateful for whatever we could give. If you can, please Donate Here. <3

BAM!

Complete and total win by the president tonight. Romney spent the whole debate sweating and trying to figure out how much to agree with the administration's policies. Best line in my opinion: Governor Romney has a foreign policy out of the 1980's, a social policy out of the 1950's and an economic policy out of the 1920's.

Politics Aside?

The Benghazi debacle has placed the November 5, 2009 shootings back in the spotlight. This might be the only positive that comes from the death of our Ambassador and Seals overseas.

What should be the classification of those Ft Hood shootings? Should survivors get Purple Hearts? The heroes given other combat commendations? Victims/Survivors given full combat benefits.

Why would be this classified as "workplace violence?" What political gain would come to the Administration by not calling this an act of terror three years before a reelection campaign? Is there an honorable explanation?

Politico Gets an Open Ice Check to the Head

An Anna Palmer, over at Politico, wrote a piece called Lobbyists ready for a comeback under Mitt Romney that touts the supposed lengths that Obama has gone to keep Lobbyists from the hallowed halls of the White House.

It's a crying shame that most that read the piece at Politico, while sipping their half-caf soy, skim milk latte, will never read its absolute smack-down penned by Tim Carney of The Examiner. Having 8 years of blogging under my distressed leather Lucky belt means I've read lots and lots of rebuttal articles...but maybe none quite as wonderfully and succinctly successful as this:

Oh no! We can’t let Romney win, he’ll let lobbyists in the White House!!!

By the time he's done his systematic dismantling of her article, he has named 55 lobbyists IN OBAMA'S ADMINISTRATION. Once again, the Left (always a victim) seems to be plagued with hysterical blindness.

Debate II

My Favorite Quote of the Night: OBAMA

"ONE area we agree on is the importance of parents and the importance of schools." -President Obama

Biggest Missed Opportunity: ROMNEY

During the Equal pay for women portion, Romney squandered an opportunity by not pointing out that women CURRENTLY working in Obama's White House are making less than the men. (Second missed was the 2-3 times Romney said the middle class had been buried over the past four years he didn't attribute the quote to Biden!)

Travesty of the Night: CROWLEY

The Man was annoyed all day yesterday that CNN's Candy Crowley was moderating the debate. I assured him that she would be as impartial as possible. I mistakenly thought a National stage would ensure that. The fact that Obama ended up with 4 full extra minutes and that her on-stage Fact Checking was erroneous wins her the "Travesty of the Night."

Strangest: OBAMA

The President of the United States using the terms "jerked around" and "gang bangers" during a Presidential debate. And, how many times did the President say "mentally ill?!" Is there some huge epidemic of the mentally ill brandishing automatic weapons of which I am unaware?

My Tweet immediately after the debate ended:

Before I listen to or read any spin...Obama did better than last time, but Romney still won in my estimation. #debate

Because You Keep Saying It, Doesn't Make It True

War on Women

Once in a while a political cartoon comes along that's just amazingly poignant. I feel this is one of those:

Also thinking that it seems Obama is waging his own little mini war on women with Hillary Clinton. First he plays the race card on her in 2008. Then calls the Clinton years in the White House a “psychodrama.” Obama then accepts the gift Bill begrudgingly bestows him at the DNC convention...and now, he has the audacity to throw Hillary under the bus for the debacle in Benghazi?! Sheesh.

I Will Not Be Ignored!

Yahoo! Sports NHL Blogger: Puck Daddy aka Greg Wyshynski (NJ Devils fan...doesn't that just say it all?) exposed his liberal leanings during the flap up over the Bruins' Tim Thomas refusing to be a hypocrite and stand for photo ops at Obama's White House. Now he goes there again by calling focus group organizer Frank Luntz 'a toad.' Now, I could care less if he thinks he's a toad, but he writes a HOCKEY blog...why is he talking politics?! Especially during a contentious election cycle where our distraction from politics IS BEING LOCKED OUT?!

Dear Wysh:

I have published the following comment twice over at Puck Daddy under the post trashing Frank Luntz. Mysteriously neither have shown up.

Just because you won't publish my comment doesn't mean I won't be heard. I'll publish my own damn comment:

"Sigh. It was bad enough you went there during the Timmy Thomas thing, but I kept coming because you're the biggest hockey blog. Dude, who do you think is watching and playing hockey?! There is violence. It is encouraged. There is a winner and only that winner gets a trophy. You're not going to games or buying jerseys on a starving artist salary or if you're Occupying Wall Street. If your kids play, no hybrid is cutting it. You need a giant SUV and if they play travel hockey, you're putting LOTS of miles on that sucker. Hockey = HUGE carbon imprint. And, you're in trouble if you're relying on socialized medicine or dental care. Get with it...no tofu eating, enviro-nuts are watching hockey or letting their wussy little offspring anywhere near the ice...because they know my two are just waiting for them..."

So, there.

Giuliani Takes on the Mob

You have to watch this video. Rudy Giuliani on CNN takes on a gaggle of Obama-lovers and accuses Soledad O'Brien of acting like she's working for the Obama campaign. Classic.

(H/T: Pat Dollard)

Character

My problems with Mitt have never been about character. And these things combined paint a pretty, damn good snapshot of a man... Makes it a bit hard to give an iota of credence to the big, bad monster that's being painted by the DNC (and Free). Even Snopes and Polifact had to begrudgingly pronounce claims as true.

Biden VS. Ryan

This was the debate I wanted to see. I marked it on my calendar as soon as it was announced. And it ended up being the same night as my monthly 'Mom's Night Out.' So, I missed it.

I'm finding it hard to decide the outcome from news stories. No one seems to be talking about the debate --only about Biden's interruptions and strange smirks. Is it worth me watching On Demand? Who won? Highlights?

My Open Letter to Obama on the Current State of Affairs

Mr. Obama,

I have noticed a very disturbing trend over the last decade or so, and in particular during your tenure in the White House. The world seems to be in complete disarray. Freedom and decency are waning while Islamofascism and other evils continue their ascendancy. And all the while, most Americans seem to be oblivious to the ever-growing peril in our country and world. I suspect this is simply because most Americans are too busy working and just trying to survive our day to day lives in this horrible economy of which you inherited and then exacerbated. Of course it is not like you, our campaigner in chief, is helping to point out, let alone address any of these critical issues. Indeed, it has now reached the point where you have fully disgraced the office of the presidency and are unworthy to sit in the oval office any longer. Despite this, if the polls put forth by your allies in the sycophantic progressive mainstream media are to be believed, you are well positioned currently to be re-elected. Again, the world is in disarray and logic no longer prevails. Let me give you some specifics as to why I think this.

Mr. Obama, you have the gall to refer to the killing of our Ambassador and three other staffers in our Libyan embassy as a “bump in the road”. No, Mr. President, it was an ACT OF WAR! It was something that deserves addressing in a serious manner, even if it is hard to fit this into your schedule amongst your interviews with Pimp with a Limp, David Letterman, and your friends on The View. Our country, our citizens, and our constitution are your ultimate responsibility to defend. I distinctly recall you taking an oath in that regard, sir. You have completely abrogated that responsibility, Mr. Obama, and in contrast to your wife’s sentiments, I am truly ashamed of my country for the first time in my life under your “leadership” accordingly.

You disingenuously told your fellow Americans that the riots and killings in Egypt and Libya were fomented by some ridiculous video that nobody has ever seen. You then, on the day before yesterday at the U.N. General Assembly, admitted that it wasn’t the video that was the catalyst for this pre-planned attack of our sovereign soil on the anniversary of 9/11. (Something which I am sure you already knew despite the fact that you have routinely missed nearly 40 percent of your daily intelligence briefings.) Anyway, despite that, did you stand up for our constitutional right to free speech? Nope. Once again, you apologized to the world for the “a crude and disgusting video [that] sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world.” These terrorist scum attacked our embassies and killed our people, and YOU apologized. I initially declined to make any comment on the issue until the facts were in and you were given a chance to react accordingly. Since you seem to be content with the current status, I am now commenting accordingly.

As a supposed Constitutional Law expert, you should know that it is precisely such political and religious speech that our founders meant to protect when drafting the very first amendment in our Bill of Rights. While the video was perhaps puerile and definitely offensive, it is NOT yours or anybody else’s right to curtail such speech. Our freedom of speech is not meant to protect only the speech that is inoffensive to others. Again, this is something you should know, sir.

You had a chance to wax on the importance of our American exceptionalism as defined by our right of free speech at the U.N. the other day. You missed that opportunity for a teachable moment to the world and instead apologized. As Newt Gingrich commented after your pusillanimous speech, your comments, “sent exactly the wrong signal. We’re not going to censor Americans on behalf of radical Islam and we need to say, calmly and comfortably, ‘If you’re going to be part of the modern world, that involves dissent.’ “

While we are on the subject, why do you find the need to defend Islam against anything that is deemed offensive by its practitioners? I noticed that the vile and offensive Andres Serrano’s “Piss Christ” art work is going to be on exhibit again in New York this week. Unlike your statement to the world that the offensive video was not created by the United States government, Serrano’s “art” of a crucifix in a jar of his urine WAS supported by tax payer dollars through the National Endowment for the Arts. In other words, you DID build that, Mr. Obama!

Why aren’t you apologizing to offended Christians for such a grave offense to our faith? Is it because, while disgusted by it, we Christians understand that this asinine “artist” has a right to be offensive? Is it because we aren’t rising up in the streets and storming the government offices for the National Endowment for the Arts and killing its director? Once again, your inconsistency is showing. Either defend our freedom of speech to the world, or apologize to us Christians too, Mr. Obama.

Your stewardship of the economy has been exceptionally poor. Your infringement upon my freedom to exercise my religion via your still unconstitutional health care law is execrable. Your weakening of our national security, disregarding our allies, and placating our enemies is dangerous and unforgivable. Your belief in the exceptionalism of every nation except the one which you were blessed to be elected president thereof is un-American. The fact that you do not understand the wonderful differences and freedoms enshrined in our constitution for all Americans and instead see it as a list of “negative liberties” because it restricts government’s powers proves that you do not truly understand America.

Consequently, you are not fit to be our president, no matter the results of the coming November election. I am sorely disappointed in you, Mr. Obama, and will work tirelessly to explain to all within my very minimal sphere of influence why you should not be re-elected as our president. You recently said that government cannot be changed from the inside, and perhaps that is true. Regardless, we the people need to put you back outside of government where your dangerous ideologies can no longer harm this greatest of all nations that many Americans still love so dearly, myself absolutely included.

With great sadness, regret, and trepidation,

T. Paine.

Now Watch Romney Run To The Middle

Here are some questions I would love to see the president ask Mitt during the next debate. Are you an extreme conservative? Are you going to work to overturn Roe v. Wade? Are you going to get rid of the mortgage deduction? Should insurance companies be able to deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions? Do you want a war with Iran? Do you think forty seven percent of the people in this country are basically leeches?

Columbia Professor Names 15 Overrated White Folks

Regular viewers of Bill O'Reilly's show on FNC are familiar with Columbia Professor Marc Lamont Hill.

The Man has always despised him and talks back to the TV for the duration of each appearance. Me, not so much. Though I too vehemently disagree with 99.9% of the things this man espouses, I found something likeable about him.

Maybe he reminds me of Dr. Foreman (Omar Epps) on House?

But, no more. This guy penned a piece for HuffPo that annoyed me so much I could barely get to sleep last night. I have no idea why it effected me the way it has, but this guy is a racist and a douche...and should not be instructing young people at one of the nations preeminent schools...

Now, don't stop at the title. The meat of the article makes the title seem innocuous...

Marc Lamont Hill: The 15 Most Overrated White People

To name a few:

  • Elvis Presley

  • Ronald Reagan

  • Donald Trump

  • President Obama's Economic Team

  • William Shakespeare

  • Babe Ruth

  • Joel Osteen

  • Sarah Palin

  • Bill Clinton

  • Eminem

  • And the one that pissed me off the most?

  • The Whole NHL (except Wayne Simmonds)

  • Are there overrated white people in the US...of course...just as there are overrated Black people...like, say, President Obama. Though, not sure why Prince Harry and Kate Middleton are on the list. No one I know cares about the English Royals either way...

Professor Hill, the NHL has over 30 Black players and even more if you count the players of mixed background (also like President Obama)... But, according to you the Subban brothers are Overrated White people?!

Obviously you've never watched hockey as it takes the most athleticism of ANY sport. I doubt you can even skate, Professor, let alone skate while puck handling and taking a hit against the boards managing to keep the puck and score...

And, as for the aforementioned Wayne Simmonds. I've met Wayne Simmonds and, unlike you Professor, he is not a racist.

How do I know? Because I also met his long time girlfriend...who is white.

I guess in the end Mr. Hill wins. He annoyed me enough to make me lose sleep last night and write about him and link his article today. Bravo, Professor. I guess.

Romney T-Shirt Girl Returns to School Today

I have yet to see the story of Samantha Pawlucy being told her Romney/Ryan shirt was akin to a KKK robe by her Geometry teacher on national news, but it certainly made its rounds online.

Pawlucy has been getting threats from classmates and strangers since the incident. (HuffPo -surprise, surprise- is also reporting that the abusive teacher in question, Lynette Gaymon, is also receiving threats.)

Before 8am this morning, a large crowd gathered in front of Charles Carroll High in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia to support Samantha's return. Not surprisingly, it was mostly veterans.

"The demonstration began outside Port Richmond's Charles Carroll High about 7:45 a.m. with the singing of the national anthem. Pawlucy then took part in the reading of the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence and the First Amendment to the Constitution.

Shouts of "Go, Sam!" and "You're great, Sam!" followed a group recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

With no speeches prolonging the event, about 8 a.m. she went inside. Police helped keep the sidewalks clear as students continued to arrive.

Most of the two dozen or so dozen participants were veterans, judging from their military decorations and signs, such as "I'm a veteran and Samantha is my hero."

Tom Manns, 74, of Olney, said before the rally, "We should stand up for our rights, and she has a perfect right to wear the shirt."

Samantha's mother, Kristine Pawlucy, said to a reporter, "It's overwhelming. I'm just trying to take it all in. . . . A lot of great people in the community - the whole country - have shown a lot of support and I think that's really helped."

Louis Harris Jr. said his four grandchildren took part in reading the First Amendment with Samantha to show that African Americans also support her right to free speech."
    (source)

My thoughts really go out to this girl today...now that she's inside the walls of the school with no supporters by her side...

    Guest Post by Bill Eccles

I posted a link to an article called A Guide to the Obama Administration’s Five Major Scandals for Mainstream Media Dummies on Facebook. Yes, I know, I broke the Office Christmas Party Protocol, and I wasn’t sure exactly sure at the time why I posted it.

I finally put my finger on it: As much as I believe this article does indeed portray an unfortunate level of comfort this administration has with being a corruptocracy, I believe it’s as much—if not more so—an indictment of the media for its consistent failure to investigate with unbiased zeal the misdeeds and missteps of our political establishment. We can no longer rely on the press to investigate the very government which it is supposed to protect us from.

The media used to be equal-opportunity haters. All politicians hated them because they were relentless in their pursuit of the deepest, darkest misdeeds of all politicians. They did this task out of a sense of journalistic responsibility, of integrity, and of a need to sell papers.

No more, however, is the free press independent, nor is the independent press free.

To the first half of the preceding statement, and by far the worst part of this problem, the media is letting their work be done by the very branches of the government from which they are supposed to be independent. When the President’s staff gets veto power over statements the press is planning on publishing, the press cannot possibly be the objective fourth estate we need.1

And independence means not only independence from the government, but independence to have opinions and findings different from others. The mere existence of the JournoList and the collusion thereon is indicative that this level of independence is dead.2 News organizations which do not toe the party line are called out as radical regardless of how much truth there may be to their stories.

I suppose that the guarantees in the Bill of Rights give the press the right to collude and write the narrative and to spin the data however they like. But the result is that Americans don’t trust the media to do their job at all, as discovered in a recent Gallup poll.3

I’m not alone in this concern. Democratic pollster Patrick Caddell said, “We designed a constitutional system with many checks and balances. The one that had no checks and balances was the press, and that was done under an implicit understanding that, somehow, the press would protect the people from the government and the power by telling—somehow allowing—people to have the truth. That is being abrogated as we speak, and has been for some time.”4

Quite frankly, I do not understand, given the death of the American newspaper, why journalists are so unwilling to investigate this administration. Controversy sells papers, after all. Maybe it’s cost cutting. Maybe it’s a group decision to support this president because there’s something in it for the media that I just can’t figure out—other than outright access, that is. On that subject, The Guardian says “It is pure ‘access journalism’: these reporters are given scoops in exchange for their wholly unjustified promise to allow government officials to propagandize the citizenry without accountability (that is, from behind the protective shield of anonymity). By necessity, their journalistic storytelling is shaped by the perspective of these official sources.”5 If people on the other side of the pond can see what’s going on so very clearly, I can’t help but wonder why we’re so blind to what’s happening within our own borders.

Finally, when the polls are intentionally skewed to reflect the beliefs and leanings of their publishers, as have past media polls6, I believe all the journalistic integrity which decades’ worth of reporters before them have gone to the ends of the earth to build is thoroughly and completely dead.

Given the media’s inability to provide any checks or balances on this administration, I would much rather there be a different administration in place, one in which the media are actively committed and doggedly interested in exposing the government’s misdeeds. That’s a media I could respect.

    Moveon.org Told Me So

I saw about the last half of the debate Wednesday. Seemed to be a Romney romp. Lots of punditry on Thursday concured. But I know now for sure that Obama got massively whooped, be-yond a doubt. How do I know this? Because MoveOn.org told me so.

Well, not in so many words. MoveOn, the most inaptly named bunch of dimwits in politics, will always proclaim the grandeur of Obama and his righteousness in all things, regardless of the facts. But, not today. Here is a copy of the e-mail they sent out today, the day after the first presidential debate; a day with the cyber world, papers, and airwaves filled with debate commentary. Today, this group of childish twats send out an email about – Romney’s “lie” about when he left Bain Capital!

    WHAT!?

No spin on the debate. No nuancing it. No dancing around the debacle. No wound licking and saying Obama would do better next time. Nope, none of that. Rather, they pull out a zombiefied attack on Romney that failed months ago.

I asked for an Obama sticker in '08 as part of an op to drain money from these clowns. Never got the thing. MoveOn has been about worthless for years. They formed in order to get people to “move on” from focusing Clinton’s fecklessness. And they got big money doing it. So, of course, like a government program that outlives is utility, they just kept on going. Now, all they do is raise funds and plug their useless petitions.

But, totally inadvertently, they called this one right. Obama got his ass handed to him. And MoveOn.org told me so.

A Tale of Two Public Schools....

This story hasn't made national news yet...but it will. I couldn't help but wonder what I would do if this happened to one of my kids? Injustice is one thing when it happens to you, but when you have to watch it effect your children...

"A Philadelphia high schooler says she was humiliated after her teacher told her to lose her Gov. Mitt Romney T-shirt comparing it to “wearing a KKK shirt.”

Samantha Pawlucy, a 16-year-old sophomore at Charles Carroll High School in the Port Richmond section of the city, says she wore a pink Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan T-shirt last Friday during the school's dress down day.

No one made an issue of Samantha’s political T-shirt until she got to geometry class.

"The teacher told me to get out of the classroom, I said no," Samantha said.

"She told me to take off my shirt and said that she has another one if I need one. And then the teacher asked me… 'are your parents Republican?' I said, 'I don't know.' She said that's like her wearing a KKK shirt."

Samantha was so embarrassed by the public criticism in front of her classmates that she told her parents she didn’t want to return to school.

A spokesperson for the Philadelphia School District tells NBC10 the teacher was transferred to another classroom as the district investigates the incident."

Last night, I heard this story while driving to my son's junior high for the beginning of the year Open House. I was feeling discouraged about the teachers out there as I was walking through the halls looking for Spanish I and then I took a wrong turn and happened upon this:

Social Studies teacher. At my kid's public school. So, I went home feeling just a tiny bit better.

Then, I went home and watched the debate and went to bed feeling A LOT better.

    Chris Matthews Melts Down

Wow, that's almost embarrassing as the tingles down his leg.

The best part of the debate for me personally? Dennis Miller's tweets:

"Romney keeps this up Obama's gonna vote for him."
"The one thing you can say for sure about Obamacare is that it will lead to Obamacaid."
"Romney should ask Obama if in the name of fairness he'd be willing to give him, Romney, one of his two minutes."
"Romney brings up Romneycare. Sweet! Perry Mason like genius!"
"Romney is stomping him like a narc at a biker rally."
"The night janitor at Big Ben doesn't clean a clock as well as Romney does."
"Obama keeps looking down at his belt buckle teleprompter." <-- haha!
"Arthur Conan Doyle's Lestrade had more of a clue than Obama."
"Obama is being owned, refinanced and owned again!"

    And, my favorite:

"Obama better hope a Kicked Ass is covered under Obamacare."

    In Their Own Words #3,248

    From our Vice President:

‘‘This is deadly earnest,’’ Biden said. ‘‘How they can justify raising taxes on a middle class that has been buried the last four years? How in Lord’s name can they justify raising their taxes with these tax cuts?’’

And, the "old news" from our President...the American government hates Black people and he was a bit closer to Jeremiah Wright than he admitted to (duh!):

Daily Caller Exclusive: In heated ’07 speech, Obama lavishes praise on Wright, says feds ‘don’t care’ about New Orleans [VIDEO]

Back in 2009 Biden said: "A gaffe in Washington is someone telling the truth, and telling the truth has never hurt me." ~VP Joe Biden, to a Newsweek reporter.

So, yesterday was Honesty & Truth 101 for the Obama/Biden camp...?

    The Teflon President

Forget John Gotti...Nothing sticks to Obama. It's mind blowing. One Obama scandal alone would have been enough to put any other President under, but he just keep smiling his way along.

Fast and Furious. And Eric Holder still holding his position. And now rumors of a SCOTUS appointment for Holder should Obama win reelection?!!!

Solyndra. Barely a beep about this. How long did we have to have Haliburton drummed into our brains --and nothing untoward had even transpired there.

    The Economy. Gas prices. Unemployment.
They keep talking about the inherited mess, but do they forget that GWB had to deal with the aftermath of 9/11? Nary a newscaster seems to remember that. We all thought the economy would tank after that...but it didn't. Not until Clinton's housing mess caught up with us.

Benghazi-Gate. The White House is still lying. Now blaming "playing politics" on Republicans when they obviously withheld purely because of politics. An ambassador raped, tortured and killed and three former SEALS killed in what must have been a horrific firefight --and instead of grieving and rallying...we're still wondering.

The Liberal Media. A media that refuses to as the President, or his minions, one hard hitting question. A media that blatantly makes up things that didn't happen and airs them. And an administration that ignores laws that bans them from campaigning and from collaborating with entities like Media Matters.

Even a person with politics Left of Bill Ayres would have to admit that no Republican President could have weathered one or two of these...let alone all of them...what is it with this guy?

    Are You Better Off?

"Ask yourself, 'Are you better off now than you were four years ago? Is it easier for you to go and buy things in the stores than it was four years ago? Is there more or less unemployment in the country than there was four years ago? Is America as respected throughout the world as it was?”

-Ronald Reagan V. Jimmy Carter, Presidential debate, Oct. 28, 1980

or Obama-phones apparently. This photo was sent by Salt1907:

Cell phones are now a necessity? Didn't Americans live successfully for a few hundred years before them? Seriously, what's next? Uggs? Keurigs? Gas cards?

People can't understand how Obama can possibly be ahead in the polls. Well, give 'em free phones!
