Benghazi? Look! Sex!

So, now with President Obama holding his first full news conference in more than eight months, all attention is being diverting from Benghazi and the ensuing coverup by throwing out an Real Housewives worthy sex scandal.

Though, I am perplexed at why Petraeus' affair is wrong and could damage national security...but Clinton's was harmless?

I digress.

Politico has their list of "hard" questions Obama will face and not a one about Benghazi.

I wish we could submit a "people's list" of questions. Let's just hope someone from FNC gets called on or we have no hope in the president having to field a real question about the death of four Americans.

So, I'll harness my inner harshness and just say...Wow, what big traps you have, Paula...

The week since the election has been beyond bizarre. Stocks plummet, layoffs, Obama donors panicking over Obamacare, and sex scandals...

OK, the tranny comment was a little harsh. As a grad from a rival academy, I can see the attraction in a physically fit West Point grad. She can run 6 minute miles at 40, and I think I was closer to 9 or 10 at that age. I think it is weird that she makes a living by talking and writing like a General Officer groupie, but there is nothing wrong with her looks.

It's crazy isn't it? Unclear whether this is sheer luck or an orchestrated distraction by the Administration.

Meanwhile, the press has pretty much ignored the real stories - like the Africom Commanding General being relieved for trying to aid the consulate.

The Admiral commanding a carrier battle group was also relieved of command. (And the Navy has been adamant that it wasn't any sexual misconduct)

Notice nobody has heard from these guys, or anyone who was act that consulate on 911?

Limbaugh (and I hate to give him credit for anything) had a good line yesterday...this is a case of generals taking orders from their privates.

Gen P: Senator, I have orders on tape, a hand written note from the President himself, e-mails, a carrier pigeon note, and a message in a bottle to stand down and let the Ambassador and everyone in the consulate die. It was on purpose and I have definative proof!

Senator Snort: That's all well and fine, General, but my question is, was she a screamed or a moaner? That's what we want to know, General, and you'd better tell it all. In detail!

Of course, since this is the first time ever that Americans have been killed by an enemy in an american consulate, I am sure the chaotic follow up is more than you can handle. Clearly the home page of MSN is just too much research.

I think the last piece of this puzzle was in place. I knew from the get-go this was a blown CIA opp because hey... its freak'n obvious. What I didn't know was that the CIA was holding detainees in Libya which is a big policy no-no right from Obama himself. My guess is he knew but was using the CIA for what it is for... doing shady stuff without most people's knowledge. The whole "cover up" was to hide the fact CIA had prisoners on site. The Patreus affair was simply the White House having something on the general to ensure compliance. Either you resign and take the fall over Bengazi or you get charged with opp sec violations, kinda thing. The reason no conventional units responded to the attack is CIA didn't want to draw attention to the site and its operatives there who were Stat Dept in name only, using it as cover for their opp as well as protection with diplomatic immunity. The video youtube story was simply an attempt to get the media thinking this was just another inncident of Muslisms freaking out (like over Koran burnings) hoping the whole thing would go away.

Absolutely nothing will come of this. Patreus if he even testifies will do so nicely and take the fall to avoid criminal charges, Hillary is now clear of responsibility as it wasn't her opp and was only loaning diplomatic status to the CIA, the Administration will claim national security and executive privilage and the whole thing will be shut down, buried and disavowed within six months.

BTW, the "consulate" at this point was obviously a CIA safe house using State Dept diplomatic immunity as cover.

Former Navy Seal diplomats? Yeah right... That should have told you right there. It did me. This was an agency opp gone bad.

It would be very interesting to hear Enemas wail if this had happened while we had a Republican President.
I'd bet the farm that Free0352 has it right.

Bram said...

Yep - Lybian rockets being smuggled to Syria while we were holding AQ suspects at the safehouse. BO managed to combine Iran-Contra and CIA torture into one place - then failed to secure it.

But nothing to see here but some some sex.

Anonymous - You are missing the point - which is exactly the desired result.

Jim, i don't listen to Linbaugh, so thanks for passing that along. Good turn of phrase.

Damn that girl is in shape. She looks far better at 40 than most girls in their 20's look.

Well she used to be an Army officer.

As for weapons, I'm sure that station house was a supply hub for weapons that went to the Libyan rebels. I mean, what do you think our government did with all those weapons cachets we found in Iraq and Afghanistan - melt them down into license plates? I don't think so. They all went into limbo, and likely a CIA warehouse somewhere and then got funneled to Libya and now Syria because the CIA kept them on hand for just such an occasion. They don't buy them anymore because nobody wants to play Oliver North at the next congressional witch hunt. No paper trail, no spent money equals deniability and avoidance of perjury during congressional testimony.

"General Petreus, did the CIA ever purchase weapons for anyone."

Answer "No" and technically it isn't a lie. We found those weapons, and then un-found them in Libya.

As for detainees, thats a huge policy problem they will have to cover up because we all know "Obama would never hold anyone in a black site like George Bush!"

Yeah... he was gonna close Gitmo too remember...

As for any hard questions, they will never be answered. This is after all the Central Intelligence Agency we're talking about, and those guys have turned ignoring Congress into an art form.

As for those killed, it truly is tragic but I will say this, you take on that risk when you choose to serve in the CIA's SAD/SOG. An operator knows that going in when making the leap from operator to operative. This country needs people who can be sold out, and when you choose to serve that way you are choosing to become a deniable asset. I still think we should have gone in and fought for them. I really do. But its a disservice to those operatives, to their extraordinary level of sacrifice, to do anything other than "forget" about them. After all, nobody who operates for the CIA ever WANTS to be remembered by anyone other than fellow operatives. If you want glory, join the regular Army. Just say'n.

Jpck20 said...

Yeah and apparently I as an E5 grunt wouldn't have stood a chance with her lol.

Free - General Hamm was regular Army and made it all the way to Africom. He got relieved of command for:

1. Believing the Obama line that this was just an attack on a consulate.

2. Trying to help them.

Only 2 people in the world can relieve an area Combatant Commander - the President and the Secretary of Defense. Makes ignorance hared to claim.

Crabbyoldidiot, since you believe that Bush was innocent, well, there's not much hope for you. 9/11 was on the WORST administrations watch in history, not Clinton and not Obama but George Bush and he is a criminal.

Enemas, I feel SO enlightened.

Zelda said...

Oh honestly. Every leader in the intelligence community leading up to 9/11 was a Clinton appointee. Is it possible for that fact to penetrate the steel bunker of partisan stupidity that is your brain?
