On Sunday, my boys' hockey team got beaten 8-2 in a game that was obviously getting pretty chirpy on the ice. It was an especially physical game with a stream of players going in and out of the penalty boxes.
At the end of the game our boys skated to center ice for the customary post game handshakes --and the visiting coach and team promptly turned and skated off the ice. When confronted about this behavior, their coach replied, "Scoreboard!"
Huh?
It was a sad moment in youth sports.
But the strangest thing was they had won. Handily.
I could see the losing team being pissed and trying to get in one last dig. But the victors?
That's exactly how this election has been. People that won getting in one last dig. One more turn of the knife... So, now I see these kids are learning it from their parents.
And now I'm a little annoyed that I was so gracious after Bush's 2004 win. ;)

One of the reasons I have my kids playing sports is that I want them to lose once in a while. They need to deal with winning and losing - with class.
Those little asses, and especially the jerk off coaches, will get theirs some day. You and yours maintain grace, dignity, and class. Let them act like the low class churlish boers they are.
As far as the election, the Dems, now have not only a platform from which to gloat, but one from which to turn America into a Potterville and Animal Farm.
Ala, I understand your annoyance. The coach of the opposing team should be ashamed. Any bets on his political philosophy?
Anyway,we win by staying true to our own morals, principles, and ideologies. Giving in or trying to moderate to be more like the idiots and progressives only serves to fill the world with more idiots and progressives. And there are far too many of them in the world already.
Paine, that is assinine assumption on your part. For all we know the opposing coach hates politics and hasn't ever voted.
Of course, why I should be surprised you would say it? Since the election all I've heard from your side is that EVERYBODY who voted for the president is a "taker" who sits home all day getting high and watching gay Latino porn.
A loud "AMEN" to all of the first three posts.

If I gambled, I would sure bet along with T.Pain.
You are right that there is no iron clad proof, but the behaviour sure fits well enough to bet.
So, all those kids on the other team are democrats? What exactly are they learning from their parents? Luckily, my kids have no interest in sports, concussions, life long injuries, what's the point? Parents have been complaining about poor sportsmanship for years, you can't blame the democrats for everything.
I'm surprised that we have not heard from Enemas yet.
Given what I've heard from my brother about youth hockey, this doesn't surprise me. While there may be a political correlation there, I haven't gone out to do a sample to find out.
That said, let's look at where you're at. I'm assuming this game happened somewhere around Philly (smack in the middle of a blue state). I doubt the visiting coach said, "Hey, look, it's a bunch of Republicans kids. Let's show them who won by showing our ass to them!" Do I think it's poor sportsmanship, yes. In the political arena do I think they all assume they're around kindred and can ^5 as much as they want? Yes. The only way I see Democrat gloating is because a lot of my FB friends are Democrats, and only a few of them actually live in GA (most of those live either in Athens or Atlanta, both tend to go blue during elections).
About the only correction they get out of me, is when they post asinine things that say "landslide victory". Because if that was a landslide, I'd hate to see them encounter an avalanche.
Sometimes I think you make things up to suit your purpose. I have never seen any such a thing occur at any youth hockey game in the 16 years I have been attending my brother's and sons' games.
Heh.
Having played hockey and coached youth hockey myself, Im fairly certain it was a case of something else. Parents who have never played the sport their kids are playing generally dont know much about the 'unwritten' rules of the game.
What most likely happened was your sons team started playing chippy and looking to run or take cheap shots against the opposing players.
I mean I know how it gets when you get down by 3-4 goals. Being a player when that happens, the natural tendency is to start being much more physical with the other team, forgetting about actually playing the game. The thought process is: 'yeah you may have beat us by 5 goals today. But the last period we beat your asses every chance we got, so the next time we play, that's what you'll remember, possibly giving us an edge.
It's a fairly common tactic actually.
But yeah, I blame Obummer also.
Democrats aren't gloating, we're just stunned when people like O'Reilly say that Obama won because people want free stuff. 400 billionaires control the wealth in this country and they all feel quite "entitled" to a lot of free stuff, like not paying taxes.
I don't know, I'm laughing. Don't need libertarians they said, Romney was "Electable" they said, people will fall in line they said, they'd have the last laugh they said. We can pull what we want, because the alternative is Obama, they said.
Well, whose laughing now?
Just so everyone is clear...*I* made no political correlation. The situation at the game just made me think of the larger situation in the country...
Oh, and Hockeymomma: I know way too many people on here in real life to get away with making stuff up.

yeah, ALa, i can't figure out how that correlation was made. interesting to step away for a while and see how little has changed in the reading comprehension department. :D i know nothing about hockey except that it's fun to watch; thanks to Jpck for the insight.
Free, as usual, you crack me up!

Enemas said “Democrats aren’t gloating, we’re just stunned when people like O’Reilly say that Obama won because people want free stuff. 400 billionaires control the wealth of this country and they all feel quite “entitled” to a lot of free stuff, like not paying taxes.”
If you really are stunned about Comrade Obama’s base wanting free stuff, Nurse Ratched is going to have to give you something to keep you from hallucinating.
Do you have any facts to support your billionaire claim?
Free0352 will probably continue to gloat and quack until he eventually bores even himself. It will be interesting to see what sort of tantrum he throws when he finally figures out that you don’t win an election unless you can muster a majority, and if you don’t win, you get no say.
Had the Libertarians got their seat at the Republican table and got to titillate themselves over the air waves, they would have driven off more support than they attracted and everyone knows it.
The numbers are indeed showing that a lot of ultra conservatives stayed home rather than support Mitt. Most ultra conservatives that I have talked to are ultra-big on national security issues and would never have voted for anyone supporting Ron Paul’s asinine ideas.
The belief that a minority can blackmail the majority into adopting positions that will cause that majority to lose more support than the minority can bring to the table in the first place is just incredible. While it is obviously enormously satisfying to Free to have helped sabotage the Republicans, so doing has drastically reduced the probability of ever bringing about the public policy changes he desires.
Crabby, your last comment was very insightful. While I like Free and typically agree with him on many issues, you are absolutely correct on this. Sorry Free, but your stand on this helped no one and only expedites our slide into oblivion and civil collapse when our economy fails.
and yet...all the pundits wonder why they stayed home. I almost stayed home - not because the candidate wa Romney - but because it was not Romney fair and square. I remember all of the "misunderstandings" - "honest mistakes" and irregularities and last minute rule changes made by the GOP at the last minute and it angers me. I was very pleased with our local party and our local convention - but even though I voted for him I am not convinced that a Romney win would be a "win." I voted for him in the hopes that unlike McCain he could bring up conservative Reps and Senators to check himself. I am very grateful for our bench...if the RNC is improved and the twits are replaced we have a great opportunity in 2016 (assuming there is a country left to govern)
"(assuming there is a country left to govern)" is my concern exactly.
All the children on the voter lists are not from the left.
Crab cake, you want proof that billionaires control all the wealth?! LOL
Enemas:
Well, where is it?
Is it a matter of you, as a member of the Liberal religion, accepting the myth as fact on faith?
"Just so everyone is clear...*I* made no political correlation."
"That's exactly how this election has been. People that won getting in one last dig."
Must have been the ghost in your machine.
Apparently Enemas has no proof, only the ghost in what passes for his brain.
Just look it up Crabbyoldman, why is this news to you?
Why is it such a surprise about people behaving badly in sports? Kids sports "role models" are all drug addicts, commit adultery, and beat their wives. So glad my kids don't waste their time in sports...
