Future Leaders

I'm assuming each generation has found the prospect of its children being their future a tad bit depressing, but I don't recall ever reading about a time in American history were entitlement was becoming so engrained in the culture...

My sis sent me this article, and I couldn't help but think, if more parents adopted this judge's way of thinking...the future might seem a bit brighter:

Taking inspiration from this judge, I have decided to start weekly cooking lessons with a three of my boys. Their future wives can thank me later...

Sounds like every night at our dinner table.

In my high school they opened a boys section of Home Ec. The coach told us football and wrestlers that he wanted some of us to volunteer to get things rolling so other boys would not think it was just for gayboys. One of the most practical and useful classes I ever took! I can sew on buttons, clean a stove to a sparkling shine, and I am a darned good cook. We had a lot of fun, especially the barbecue for some of the teachers. Bourbon based sauce. I tell you, I do NOT know what happened to the rest of the bottle…
The only difficulty with the Judge’s advice is that parents would need to actually parent. That can be hard on today’s coddled spoiled batch of ‘rents. But, raise a child up in the way he should go, and he will not soon depart from it.

I've been teaching my girls to cook and bake. So far, they aren't very good at it.
