Guest from the Left: J. Marquis

Now Watch Romney Run To The Middle

Here are some questions I would love to see the president ask Mitt during the next debate. Are you an extreme conservative? Are you going to work to overturn Roe v. Wade? Are you going to get rid of the mortgage deduction? Should insurance companies be able to deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions? Do you want a war with Iran? Do you think forty seven percent of the people in this country are basically leeches?

When I started this blog, 100 years ago, I was vehemently anti-gun.

As a direct result of many, many conversations here with various veterans and other moms, I have changed my mind and now believe gun education and not restriction is the key.

I have to wonder...If I ran for public office, would I be a flip flopper?

This happens every election. Republicans run through the primaries as conservatives and Democrats as liberals. Then they both dive towards the middle in the general election.

What's so great about the mortgage deduction? Why is it better for people to own than rent? Shouldn't people make that decision on their own? Wouldn't lower taxes without the deduction be more fair to everyone? You guys care about fairness, right?

Ala, the difference is you probably haven't changed your mind about almost literally every issue.

How can the head of the Executive branch 'overturn' Roe v Wade, a court decision? Aren't the courts part of the Judicial branch?
And how do you 'overturn' a court decision, anyhow?

Take time to understand the talking points before you unleash them on an unsuspecting populace...

He could defund Planned Parenthood, seriously limiting women's access to contraception and abortions. He could appoint Supreme Court justices who want to overturn it.

Funny how conservatives demand their candidate support a certain point of view and then turn around and claim that candidate would be powerless. Talk about trying to dupe and unsuspecting populace!

He should de-fund Planned Parenthood. Why should my tax dollars pay for an elective act I am morally opposed to? Pay for your own abortions or raise the money privately.

Roe v. Wade should be overturned - based on the Tenth Amendment.

I am not a big supporter of Romney; but what choice do I have? I either support Romney of support the most corrupt and racist administration in modern American history.
Anyone who supports Obama at this point is supporting the corruption, lawlessnes, and criminality of his administration.

The reason you changed your mind is because you became better educated on the issue, not because a focus group and a pollster advised you to change so that you could better appeal to a voter demographic and stand a better chance of election.

Its the difference between becoming smarter and pandering.

Pandering: "The act of expressing one's views in accordance with the likes of a group to which one is attempting to appeal. The term is most notably associated with politics. In pandering, the views one is verbally expressing are merely for the purpose of drawing support up to and including votes and do not necessarily reflect one's personal values.

It might be funny, if it were true. All I said was that you cannot 'overturn' a court case from the oval office.

Was I wrong?

He COULD defund PP, or he could appoint conservative Justices. In fact, I hope he does. But neither action would constitute 'overturn[ing] Roe v. Wade".

Don't schools even teach Civics anymore?

J.Marquise:
1. I personally support the Roe v. Wade decision.
2. Although I have personally greatly benefited from the mortgage deduction, I support repealing the measure in the interest of fairness to those who rent and to lower the general rate of taxation.
3. Of course insurance companies should have the right to deney coverage for pre-existing conditons (both my wife and I are diabetic). The problem should be handled via a pool, similar to assigned risk auto coverage.
4.No sane person WANTS a war, you retard. It is a question of choosing among the least of evils. We would have avoided 30-40 million deaths had we gone to war against Hitler in 1936. Instead, because of idiots like you, we did not act until it was wwaaayy too late.
5. I'd say that the actual number of parasites is probably more like 15-25%. The remaining 25-32% are the gullible fools who buy the redistribut line.

I love the leftist meme of Romney as a flip-flopper, he may be, but for supporters of the biggest public flip-flopper in American history shouldn't throw stones (Obama started right out of the gate when he was adamantly for public campaign financing before he was against it).

And it shows how screwed up the left is: they ask; should insurance companies be allowed to deny coverage, when instead they should be asking if government should have the ability to tell private companies what they must cover.

I'd say this for Obama, he's relatively honest about what he's about- financing aside. The man is a clear progressive and he doesn't make any bones about it.

Free - I disagree. He broke every last promise he made regarding civil liberties. The old pot-head has militarized police doing more raids than ever. The "most transparent Administration ever" is the most opaque ever.

Every day over at Reason they have a story about federal abuse of power.

I was speaking more to his economic agenda. You have a point about the civil liberties stuff.
