Newt V. Mitt

Is it now pretty safe to say we're down to these two?

Many Conservatives were sticking by Herman Cain throughout the sexual harassment accusations because based on his character people believed him over the women. Now that his character has been seriously impugned by the latest accusations of a 13 year affair, that unfortunately tends to make the other accusations more believable... But we didn't just lose a Presidential candidate --his wife and kids have had their whole perception of who he is rocked to the core. My heart goes out to them as they attempt to swallow this bitter pill.

And Rick Perry. I forgave many a gaffe. I figured, hell...Joe Biden is the Veep...obviously gaffes aren't that big of a detriment in politics. But bad debating is one thing. Not knowing that you have to be 18 and not 21 to vote is another. I registered to vote 6 months BEFORE my 18th birthday and the GOP rep in my area just held the application so it could go in ASAP. I remember filling out that Voters' Registration like it was yesterday. I was so excited. So, why doesn't Perry have that memory? Did he not register to vote until after he was 21?

So, it seems to be Newt or Mitt. And, unlike Anne Coulter, I'm gonna have to go with Newt if it's between those two. Thoughts?

If it's between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney, who will get your vote?

Do Petitions Work?

The internet (and now Facebook) is rife with seemingly worthy petitions from everything to saving dolphins being slaughtered in Japan to requiring that anyone working with young children is background checked...

But do they work? says no.

I bring this up because this morning I came across Rand Paul's petition for a National Right to Work Act. Of course I 100% support the idea of EVERY state being a Right To Work State, but will my eSignature really do anything to move the country closer to attaining save haven for Japanese dolphins, more stringent laws for those that work around/with children or people that just want to work without Union dues and PACs?

Why they love us

Got an email today from some liberal who objects to my post about how Iraqi kids love us. He says there is no way Iraqi kids could love the people who invaded their country, and the real supporters of the Iraqis are the ones who wanted to "end the criminal war." I can see how he would get confused.

This is what Iraqi kids know about us.

And this is what anti-war protesters know about us.

Soldiers who shield them from bombs with their bodies vs hippies with a cause celeb. Those same hippies who argued for years to take we Soldiers from the equation, leaving said kids defenseless. No wonder they love us, and you're the butt of their jokes.

Any questions?

The Truth About Taxes

A poll taken in 2010 revealed that only two percent of Tea Party supporters knew that Obama had lowered taxes. Forty four percent of them thought that the President has raised their taxes.

One of J's commenters responded with this:

"It's due to Fox. New research has come out that shows that those who watch Fox News are less informed than people who watch no news at all. Scary." ~Dave Splash

Yes, it's because we hate her.

So Daily KOS just can't figure out why NASCAR fans booed Michele Obama.

Well, let me think. A trip to Spain on the public dime with 35 friends in tow, not being able to wait four hours for her husband and a flight on AF One she took her own 757 at taxpayer expense on yet another expensive tax payer funded trip. 300k tax payer funded date night to Broadway? Never ending, condescending speeches on how to feed our kids. Only being proud to be American when her husband got votes.

Yeah, regular people... NASCAR people... don't like her. In fact we hate her. If the crew over at KOS have a problem with that, frankly I don't think one of "us" gives a shit. It doesn't matter she was out there for a good cause. She shouldn't support those causes, because her presence makes me not want to help those things. I don't like her. She could be announcing a cure for cancer and I'd boo. They should lock her up in the White House basement and never let her out.

And please Liberals, spare me all the feigned outrage. I'm still being nicer to Michele than you were Bristol Palin.

Yeah it's personal and mean, and we don't care. In case you haven't figured it out progressives, we're so over being nice to you. When this Presidency began, I had some differences of opinion with the President and his entourage but it wasn't personal. As the years and arrogance out of the administration went on however... well frankly I've grown to just not like these people. Bill Clinton? I don't agree with him but I could have a beer with that guy. Not these folks. If the President offered to have a beer with me I'd turn him down. I don't like him, his staff, or his family... or his politics. I think he's a prick, and I don't care for his wife either. Clinton was a real guy... god love him... ruthless, cunning, salacious, but a real guy. The Obama's are not, they're the quintessential limousine liberals. Arrogant elites looking down at "bitter clingers" like me. Well Obamas, thanks but no thanks. Go away. Think about it. You can see Bill Clinton at that NASCAR race, chilly dog and big gulp in hand, hitting on the track girls having a ball... and you know he'd be the life of the party. Bill's lost some weight and all, but when he gets in the moment you know he'd be eating a turkey leg and eyeing the beer bong. The Obama's would be meticulously trying not to shake too many hands to avoid getting dirty. Clinton would be giving you a drunken hug.

The Obama's are over scripted, hyped, handled and fake. People hate a fake, and loath an arrogant one.

You want us to respect the first lady, try getting a respectable first lady instead of this Marine Antoinette clone. In an era where we're all tightening our belts, her excess with our money is blatantly offensive - but of course she doesn't know any better. She's part of the Chicago Way and that's how they roll. In Chicago, power has it's privileges; and so to it seems Washington D.C. Hillary Clinton had a lot of faults as first lady, but I don't ever remember her jetting off to blow a few million of our tax dollars. She might have been a stone cold bitch, but at least she didn't revel in the free government cheese.

In the future Mrs. Obama - when your husband is demanding more tax money from us and at the same time you are taking lavish vacations on those tax dollars... expect boos.

Perry to Cain to Gingrich A.K.A. Anyone But Romney

We went from this:

to this:

in two short months.

It's such a different experience than the 2008 run. I had my man early then. Endorsed and campaigning for Fred Thompson right out of the gate. This time not so much...though my thoughts have been trending with the rest of the Conservatives. First I was thinking I would jump into the Perry boat, then I was definitely leaning toward Cain and now I am thinking that Newt it will be...

It doesn't make us fickle --actually just the opposite --I think it means we are resolute in our commitment to Anyone But Mitt.

Truthfully, as a candidate, I still like Perry the most. I can forgive the vaccine thing and the even the illegal immigrant thing (I am not in a border state, so feel he's better qualified to have an opinion there) and certainly the debate thing doesn't bother me at face value, but will Obama obliterate him in their debates and has the media successfully damaged him enough that he couldn't weather the general election...?

Herman Cain was a magnificent long shot. He is inspiring and an embodiment of the American Dream (someone the OWS folks should learn about). I think the allegations (though I have heard nothing more about them in the past week) will be more than even he can surmount.

Newt is a skilled linguist and he won't need a teleprompter to eviscerate Obama. But, much like Cain, will WOMEN be able to pull the lever for Newt? Forget lobbying for Freddie or Fannie --that's a job --How about a mistress becoming the First Lady? That's a lot to stomach. Mitt is lucky in that he has a group of amazing opponents that all have a fatal flaw --yet his fatal flaw is politically incorrect (even for Conservatives) to talk about...

I feel like whenever politics and the candidate I really wish I could vote for are involved, I find myself saying, "Why couldn't you just have kept it in your pants?!" It seems not even the promise of the most powerful position in the world can tame the evil beast...

Time for the Occupation to Surrender

Occupy Wall Street "Day of Action" hurts the 99 percent (and that from the MSM)

It was mildly amusing at first, then good news and blog fodder...but then the stench, the defecation sensation and rape safe house tents made it just creepy. Now it feels just downright dangerous. A simmering mob mentality that's blaming all their woes on some paper tiger.

A MINIMUM of $7 million dollars on police overtime. How much money now on paying the sanitation department overtime to clean the park --and get this, they can't even through away all the toxic waste. They need to put bowls, bongs and nasty sleeping bags into storage so the owners can retrieve them. How much is that tab?

Whenever someone touts 'free speech' in reference to this 'movement,' I always think of being little and being told to "see with my eyes and not my hands." They need to speak with their mouths and not their bodies.

Best Story of the Month

Marine veteran teaches OWS heckler a lesson

"Kevin Hiltunen, a former NYPD officer, yesterday grabbed an Occupy Wall Street demonstrator by the collar and dragged him out of a Queens school where he’d been heckling US Rep. Bob Turner at the congressman’s swearing-in ceremony.

“I guess you could say I sorted him out,” said Hiltunen, 48, his jacket and tie barely mussed after dragging the scruffy protester out on his rear end.

“All I was doing was trying to stop this historic occasion from being disrupt-ed. There is a time and place to exercise your First Amendment rights,’’ said Hiltunen, of Bergen Beach, Brooklyn, who was identified by people at the ceremony as an ex-Marine."

Please Don't Defend JoePa to Me!

Political Philosophy Quiz

Conservative/Progressive score: 0
You are a social conservative. You believe in traditional values, and care first and foremost about your country, your family, and your religion. You dislike the agenda of the left because you see them as trying to destroy these things.

Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 0
You're a Capitalist Purist. You believe that the market should be completely free, and that the invisible hand of the market will make sure that the people get what they want and will do it in the most efficient way possible. You believe in small government, less taxes, and more privatization.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 6
You're a Moderate. You think that we all have certain inalienable rights that must be protected, but that sometimes laws need to be made to protect the majority's lives or quality of lives. You might think that the 2nd amendment isn't necessary anymore because letting everyone a gun is extremely dangerous to the community. You might also be against illegal drug use or public pornography because of its possible harmful effects to society.

Pacifist/Militarist score: 8
You're a Moderate. You think that in very rare occasions, the United States should invade a country in order to make the world better by spreading democracy or ending a tyrants rule. You also think that defense is very important, and we shouldn't lower the defense budget. You think that, while the Iraq War probably was a mistake, that we can make the world a better place by sticking with it and spreading democracy in the middle east.

Overall, you would most likely fit into the category of Hardcore Republican.

I'm So Sick of 'Republican Primary Voters'

I really am. You've all bitched for the last three years about the slick talking Obama. And how he was able to get elected with NO EXPERIENCE because of his Teleprompter and skills as an orator.

And now you same Republicans are saying they won't vote for Rick Perry because of his debate performances?! He has a tangible record of success in Texas. And you won't vote for him because he went blank on national TV? Have you ever been on national TV...I have and I totally flubbed too. It's intimidating and beyond nerve-wracking.

I want a DOER...we've had enough TALKERS. I'll take Cain and his shady accusers, or Perry and his shaky oration and even Newt and his mistress-wife before I hold my nose and vote for Romney...

Most Succinct OWS Take Down To Date

Guest from the Right: Free0352

I don't blog about the war.

From the very first post I did on [my] blog, I made it clear I wasn't going to be talking about my combat experiences. I did that once, and the Army got very upset with me. I intended to never make that mistake again. Today I'm going to break that rule. If the Army wants to prosecute me, fine.

I'm trying to make a point.

During my last tour an EFP went off near the corner of Route Aerials and Route Pluto. The EFP is an IED that shoots a copper plate (turned to plasma from a shaped charge) like a bullet to pierce armor. A long story short, one of these hit a Soldier who I didn't really know. He was in a different company than me, and was an attachment from the tank battalion. He was behind the machine gun in the turret when he was hit. The blast decapitated him, and completely destroyed his head.

I remember after it happened, they brought his vehicle, and his weapon back to JSS Sadr City where I was. I remember looking down at his M240B in the Operations Center and seeing pieces of his remains on the weapon. I went to the aid station and got a bio hazard bag, and with great respect for that Soldier I scraped the pieces of his skull that had been fused to the stock of the machine gun from the heat of the blast, and placed them in the bio hazard bag. I then made sure that all of his remains were returned to his family. I'm not sure anyone knows about this other than the medic I turned his remains over to, but I guess now the whole world knows.

The point is, I wasn't about to throw any part of him away.

Not like these people did.

Remember when I did the post about Scott Zaur's suicide and how things were changing? This illustrates the change perfectly, and tragically.

This is about RESPECT. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Where has it gone?

I'm not so much angry at the personnel who did this, as I am they didn't know any better or didn't care. Why aren't we teaching them values anymore?

Herman's Cain's Accusers

Sexual Harassment is such is an ambiguous concept. One person's harassment is another's joke, misspeak, or chance to get a check. I have to be honest and say that I'm not a fan --unless it's sleep with me or you don't get the job/promotion/etc. It's not just me, many women I know cringe when they hear another woman mention sexual harassment or a possible law suit because of it --let me tell you, in all those times I've never heard an instance that I would have condoned legal action...

I keep thinking about the hospital administrator at the veterinarian that I worked at from twenty years old. He was an old Navy Medic that had been attached to the Marines during WWII and Korea. He was completely inappropriate and completely harmless.

I had a small tumor removed from my breast when I was 22 and when I came back to work, what was the first thing out of his mouth, "Can I see the scars?" If I were a different type of person I could have sued him 1,000 different times and won.

He is what I keep thinking about through all this Herman Cain stuff.

With John Edwards I knew right away he was guilty and that he was lying about the love child. I don't have that feeling with Herman Cain at all. There are so many shady political connections with the accusers. They are accusing him of sexual harassment --which could be an untoward joke or a glance that lasts too long --if anything at all.

Is the Media out to destroy Cain?

Cain's latest accuser made sexual harassment claims at other jobs also. That's enough said for me. And the first one posed for pictures with him at a Tea Party just a few months ago. There's already talk of financial woes and book deals.

I feel bad for his wife.

My 11 year, who I didn't realize was loosely following the story (I do have FNC on in the kitchen at all times), looked at me yesterday and said, "Mom, hasn't anyone stopped to think that maybe these people are just doing this because he's going to run against Obama and he's Black too?" Wow! At 11 he understands the threat of a Black Conservative to the Liberal establishment...?

I'm not making any judgement or verdict here. Just saying that, in my opinion, this is too vague and too politically convenient and I am inclined to believe Cain.

Question for the OWS Defenders

Last week, a few of our Lefty brethren ventured over here to say that they felt that not only my coverage, but the media's coverage of Occupy Wall Street was slanted and a misrepresentation of the movement as a whole. That the riot gear pics, the public defecating and the violence in general has been blown up to paint an unfair portrait of the sweet yet disgruntled OWS protesters.

I have not been to an Occupation. My sister walks by Occupy Philadelphia on her way to work each day and swears the talk of the horrid smell is not just for comic value. I have been to two Tea Party rallies though (permits were obtained for both) and I can promise you I saw NOTHING untoward. NOTHING. Not even an iffy sign. Not a graffitied port-a-potty or a racey chant. Certainly no "safe tent" had to be erected to protect women and no Tea party security force need to form to protect attendees...

So, given the accounts from police and reporters and the denial of Lefty Jones, et question is...

Would YOU (liberal that claims OWS is getting unfair coverage) take your wife and children to any of the occupations (but most specifically Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Oakland)?

Ewww. It's Worse Than We Thought...

"Occupy Wall Street protesters are flocking to nearby health clinics for STD and HIV testing after getting their freak on in ’60s-style hookups with crusty strangers, sources told The Post yesterday.

“Last week was free love,” said a medical professional at a clinic located a short walk from Zuccotti Park, referring to the number of people who organizers have referred for sexually transmitted disease testing.

A volunteer at the park admitted concern among protesters about STDs.

“We give directions to clinics if people ask for information regarding STDs,” said the volunteer, who identified himself only as “Captain” and added that pregnancy tests are also a hot item.

“Like anything else, it happens. People ask, and we do the best we can for them.”

Volunteers at the medical tent hand out cash, usually $15 or $20, so the randy radicals can visit clinics that cater to a low-income clientele, the source said." (source)

As I've said before, I understand the frustration that is prompting these protests. What I don't understand is why they are on Wall Street and not on Pennsylvania Avenue --and what they hope these protests will accomplish and how will they know when to stop...?

Are they protesting the $13 million in bonuses that Fannie & Freddie execs got? As in Fannie & Freddie that were much more responsible for the mess we're in than Wall Street Execs...

Or are they protesting Occupy Oakland that is forcing small businesses to close and lose desperately needed revenue?
