The World MUST Have Ended...

...for I find myself in agreement with some folks in San Fransisco. Well, not really. I don't really want the government to ban circumcision...truthfully, I just wish people didn't even consider it unless a religious belief they hold mandates it.

"Lloyd Schofield has come one step closer to achieving his mission to ban circumcision in the City by the Bay.

San Francisco city officials said Wednesday that Schofield had collected enough signatures -- more than 12,000 -- to put the measure on the city ballot in November 2011.

The ban would make it illegal to "circumcise, excise, cut or mutilate the whole or any part of the foreskin, testicles, or penis of another person who has not attained the age of 18 years." (READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE)

It's always been odd to me that women go to such lengths to protect their unborn babies...they don't smoke, drink, take meds, they contemplate water births and painful natural births...and then hand over their precious newborn to some intern to do cosmetic surgery with no anesthesia. Especially when they're atheists -since this is a religious practice, or non-believing Jews or Protestants or Catholics for that matter. Basically anyone other than die-hard Jews and Muslims.

"...the rate of circumcision among baby boys in the United States seems to be declining. The government agency found that the incidence of circumcision dropped from 56 percent in 2006 to 32.5 percent in 2009."

Maybe it's finally catching on that the Puritans that brought this to the US where wrong in thinking it would stop boys from enjoying themselves...what a great reason to start snipping...

And what's REALLY crazy is in the 9 years I worked at a vet, the men that came in FREAKED OUT when they had to neuter their dogs under full sedation?! I'll never understand people...
