Unemployment and Foreclosures are No Joking Matter...

It's weird to have a sitting President chose a one-on-one with a comedian in lieu of an actual news program. Makes you wonder if The Onion will be graced with an interview for the print leg of the tour...

But, what I found more interesting than whether the President should have done The Daily Show...is why the president was so UNFUNNY on the Daily Show. He treated it like a news show and was straight-faced and stern. YET, he obviously fancies himself a bit of a comedian. The other day at a DNC rally/fundraiser he joked: (I'm paraphrasing here) ["Politics is like driving a car. When you want to go forward, you put it in D and when you want to go backwards, you put it in R."]

Har, Har, Har...

Well, if we're getting all cheesy with our analogies...I can certainly one-up the CIC...

How about the fact that Article IV of the Constitution guarantees the right to EVERY STATE in the Union a REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT.

Much better than corny car thing. If I do say so myself.

But truthfully, with the jobless numbers what they are and the economy what it is...I don't think comedy shows and silly analogies is what the American people envisioned when they were promised change. Then again, we already know that the media will cover for him regardless of his massive blunders...

The Liberal Gene

Apparently there is one.

"A new study has concluded that ideology is not just a social thing; it's built into the DNA, borne along by a gene called DRD4. Tagged "the liberal gene," DRD4 is the first specific bit of human DNA that predisposes people to certain political views, the study's authors claim.

So if a liberal ideology is genetic, or at least partly genetic, does that mean it runs in the family -- and can be passed on to your kids? No doubt about it, the authors say.

"In fact, psychologists have asserted for many years that social conservatism is heritable," the paper notes. Fowler cites twin studies comparing fraternal and identical twins that have pinpointed exactly how much liberal ideology can be passed along.

"Ideology is about 40 percent heritable. It's almost half genes and half environment," Fowler told FoxNews.com. What's more, he said, any trait that can be inherited has potentially been with the human race for a long time, meaning political ideology has been a part of us for tens of millions of years..." (SOURCE)

So, obviously, the next step is gene selection...and subsequent eradication of DRD4. ;)

Seriously though, this makes two of my brothers and anomaly. Two Conservative parents which raised them in a very Conservative household...YET, both flaming libs...I should submit then for study so the phenomenon doesn't ever repeat itself...

Guest From the Left: J.Marquis

A Simple Question That Can't Be Answered

The deficit problem is really pretty simple. We have to cut government spending, raise taxes or do both.

I believe the Democrats will be willing to discuss modifying entitlement spending if the Teapublicans will grow up and talk about (1) raising taxes on the rich and (2) cutting military spending.

I've seen a couple of right-wing think tank people recently get asked about cutting the military spending at all, even just a little. They got all panicky and looked like they might throw up.

Why I'm NOT voting Republican.

Quick break from the field, so here goes. With all the excitement coming up on Tuesday anyone who knows me would think I'd be chomping at the bit to vote. Well, I'm only half excited. I am rather pumped about voting against the Democrat for Michigan Governor, Virg Bernero. I chose to remain a resident of Michigan over Kansas (where I'm stationed in the Army) purposely to vote against the party that put in that awful hag Jennifer Grandholm. Virg is a sacrificial lamb, Grandholm destroyed Michigan to the point that I think Michiganders would elect a dead moose over any Democrat for Governor. I unfortunately won't get to actually vote against her because this year, her terms are up- so I'll take it out on the poor bastard trying to fill her seat and vote Republican. The guy running against him seems like an alright guy.

However, that leaves me with a horrible choice for my congressional vote. Currently I'm represented in Michigan's 7th Congressional district by liberal douche bag and Obama lackey Mark Schaur. Now it would seem a no brainer that anyone would be better than Mark... but not so it seems. My candidate was Brian Rooney, Tea Party favorite, Marine, and defender of the Marines accused and acquitted at Haditha. However, the 7th Congressional district and Michigan Republican Party in all it's retarded wisdom chose Republican Establishment candidate and over all looser Tim Walberg. I've met Tim on a few occasions, and helped him get elected back in 04' by putting up signs for his campaign. I've always regretted it. In his two years he voted for TARP and huge give-a-ways to Big Agriculture. He's a special interest shill, and represents all that is wrong with the Republican Party. Everything we hate about wanna-be Ruling Class Republicans, this guy personifies it. Basically he feels entitled to his seat, and now the Michigan Republican Party sees fit to grace him with it again even though his first and only term was an utter failure.
I'm not voting or going along for that.

Think about it, if Tim wins... what have we won? Answer: Nothing. We put Tim in there in 04' and all he did was put us further into debt, and grew government. He's just like a Democrat, only sneakier. That's not a win at all. So I will be "throwing my vote away" on the Libertarian candidate just like I did for Bob Barr over John McCain last cycle.

I'm done blindly supporting a party.

Maybe once they've lost a few the Republican Establishment will learn their days of business as usual are done. I'd rather have Progressive Mark Schauer, least then I don't have to feel responsible for the debacle and might just teach Steel and Co. a lesson... or help to at least.

They can lecture me all day over at Blonde Sagacity just like they did when I voted for Barr over McCain and outright left the party over McCain's vote for TARP... but frankly I don't give a shit. We got ourselves into this mess with the "lesser of two evils strategy" and I won't play ball anymore. I learned my lesson, and it's time Conservatives learned theirs. To all my Michigan readers (the largest group of you out there)... screw Tim Walberg. The real victory in this election isn't coming Tuesday, it already came. With anti-establishment candidates like Rand Paul (who will likely win) or Christine O'Donnell and Linda McMahon (who are going to loose) we may not win the election battle but we win the war against the Republican Establishment. The same Republican Establishment that owns a good chunk of the mess we as a country are in today. In the long run, the willingness to loose on principle instead of winning at any cost is going to save this country. If we sell our souls, this Tea Party phenomenon and all our work has been for nothing.

Where Is This 'Wonderful Man' People Speak Of?

I know everyone always talks about what a "nice person" he is and what an "incredible philanthropist" and "strong Christian."

I just don't see it.

Every time this man opens his mouth, I'm annoyed. I have a contact like that on Facebook. EVERY status update irks me. Well, that was before I made it so I don't get his updates anymore...

I digress... Former President Carter has done it again:

"America is no better off now than it was in the late 1970s and early 1980s, says former President Jimmy Carter. From national politics to relationships with other nations, there is a lot of room for improvement.

"We had almost complete harmony with every nation on Earth," the Nobel Peace Prize winner said of his administration. "We not only preserved peace for our country, we never went to war. We never dropped a bomb. We never fired a missile..." (SOURCE)

I'm going to have to disagree with all the 'he's a wonderful man' people. This man bothers me. He can build all the houses he wants to, and that's great...but in my eyes he negates al that each time he opens his mouth.

It'll be interesting to see President Bush talk to Oprah on November 9th (though I strongly feel he shouldn't have granted her the interview)...I guarantee he'll field uncomfortable questions with much more class than Mr. Carter exhibits.

Dubya Vindicated

Many of us have always believed that little by little Bush would be vindicated in his decision to go to war with Iraq... the first slice of that pie has been served:

"The largest unauthorized disclosure of classified government documents in U.S. history confirms a long-standing assertion of President George W. Bush at the start of the 2007 troop surge: Iran was orchestrating one side of the Iraqi insurgency.

Field reports made public by the website WikiLeaks on Friday show that U.S. military intelligence agencies had many strands of evidence revealing that Iran provided paramilitary training to Shiite Muslim insurgents at the height of the civil war in Iraq..." (SOURCE)

Right to Vote

"Portland residents will vote Nov. 2 on a proposal to give legal residents who are not U.S. citizens the right to vote in local elections, joining places like San Francisco and Chicago that have already loosened the rules or are considering it.
Noncitizens hold down jobs, pay taxes, own businesses, volunteer in the community and serve in the military, and it's only fair they be allowed to vote, Rwaganje said.
"We have immigrants who are playing key roles in different issues of this country, but they don't get the right to vote," said Rwaganje, 40, who moved to the U.S. because of political strife in his native Congo and runs a nonprofit that offers financial advice to immigrants.
Opponents of the measure say immigrants already have an avenue to cast ballots - by becoming citizens. Allowing noncitizens to vote dilutes the meaning of citizenship, they say, adding that it could lead to fraud and unfairly sway elections..." (SOURCE)

I have had people justify non-citizen voting by claiming that it was not always a requirement in the US to be a citizen to vote. The claim is true, but if you need to reach back 96+ years in history...is it really proving your point?

So what do you think of a bill that allowed ONLY tax-paying legal residents (not illegal aliens) to vote? Is it a viable suggestion giving these people pay local and federal taxes...or just a end run to get higher voters that the DNC believes will go their way?

Waking up to some good news

...for a change.

These were the first two stories I saw this fine morning:

  • "President Barack Obama's approval rating has dropped more than 18 points since taking office to an all-time low of 44.7 percent, according to a new Gallup poll..." (SOURCE)

  • "A majority of Americans don't think President Obama deserves to keep his job, a poll released today shows.
With less than two weeks to go before the midterm elections, a survey conducted by Gallup shows that only 39 percent of Americans think Obama deserves to be re-elected in 2012.
A staggering 54 percent think he should be a one-term president, the poll found.
Earlier this year, between 46 and 48 percent of Americans said Obama should be re-elected..." SOURCE)

Why is the (R)/(D) Gap Closing?

Every election day is important. There is always something at stake. But this time it feels as urgent as it did in 2004 when we were desperate not to have John Kerry as CIC. Maybe more-so. A Republican Congress could mean a reversal of some of the detrimental policies that have advanced...or at least a halt to further progressive progress. But the most recent polls show the margins slimming and I'm starting to panic a bit.

What else could we expect with George Soros donating a million to Media Matters (to "get" Fox news) and 1.8 million to NPR (Does that make it NSR?)? With Democrats funding Tea Party candidates to create 3rd party distractions? And with the NAACP out there advancing the FALSE perception that the Tea Party is a racist movement?

Republicans should need only two things this election. The truth:

"Chances are you'll learn that your 2011 health insurance tab will be sharply higher, as companies continue to shift the burden of rising costs onto their workers..." (SOURCE)

"Unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is at 10.0% in mid-October -- essentially the same as the 10.1% at the end of September but up sharply from 9.4% in mid-September and 9.3% at the end of August. This mid-month measurement confirms the late September surge in joblessness that should be reflected in the government's Nov. 5 unemployment report..." (SOURCE)

"Majority of independent voters say Dem leadership is more left wing than they are..." (SOURCE)

    And YOU.

You NEED to vote. You need to call your family and friends and ensure they vote. Shame them if need be.

Especially those of you that abstained in 2008. Your debt is higher and you must work harder to right this wrong.

There are 99 Democrat-held House seats in danger! And even Obama acknowledges that 15 Senates seats are in play. Yes we can!

    Anita Hill...After All These Years.

"Anita Hill is refusing to apologize for accusing then-Supreme Court justice nominee Clarence Thomas of sexually harassing her, in an issue that Justice Thomas' wife has reopened 19 years after his confirmation hearings.

"I have no intention of apologizing because I testified truthfully about my experience and I stand by that testimony," Ms. Hill, now a Brandeis University professor, said in a statement released Tuesday night.

Justice Thomas' wife, Virginia, had left a voicemail message on Ms. Hill's phone on Oct. 9 asking her to say she was sorry for the allegations that surfaced at Justice Thomas' confirmation hearings for a seat on the high court bench in 1991..." (SOURCE)

Truthfully, I'm a bit young to really remember all the nuances of this case...other then the hair on the Coke can because Howard Stern talked about that for years afterward...or did he make that up?

Anyway, since this story really does pre-date my politically active period I almost moved on to the next thing...but one line struck me:

"When Ms. Hill heard the voicemail, she contacted Brandeis' public safety office, which in turn informed the FBI."

That speaks volumes, doesn't it? I know people like this. Serial over-reactors aka serial attention seekers. She had to report a voicemail? She had to voice enough "fear" to have the FBI involved? Enough said.

The immigrant who comes here in good faith...

From Germany & France to Nevada & California, Immigration (both legal and illegal) is all over the news. How to enforce laws whilst remaining racially and religiously blind and totally politically correct is the dilemma. This morning I was reminded of a simple formula that used to work:

"In the first place we should insist that the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equity with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace or origin.

But this is predicated upon the man's becoming an American and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American but something else also, isn't an American at all.

We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any flag of a nation to which we are hostile. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

~Theodore Roosevelt (Letter to the American Defense Society, 1919)

To live in a country, you should WANT to be hyphen-free. You should WANT to assimilate. The PROSPER part will follow all that...

    Victory by Technicality?

That will be just fine by me.

The Ground Zero Mosque debate has become plain ridiculous. The nausea-inducing political correctness factor reached its crescendo last week when yenta duo Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar walked off The View's set because Bill O'Reilly DARED to say that MUSLIMS killed us on 9/11. Then I heard a talking head, in defense Whoopi and Joy, have the nerve to say that when someone blows up an abortion clinic "NO ONE POINTS OUT THAT THEY'RE CHRISTIAN!" Yeah, they never bring that up... *sigh* I can't take it anymore. How could it possibly be wrong to say that Muslims perpetrated 9/11? Islam and what they deem as a mandate by Allah was their implicit motivation... But, as we had said countless times recently --when someone wants to muddle the issue they scream 'racist' or 'hate speech' and that's just what these two (common & predicable) ladies did.

So, considering the debate has devolved to such a mind-blowingly ridiculous level in which the players aren't even permitted to state facts...we have to hope that the plan crashes and burns for non-political reasons.
"The money woes keep growing for a developer of the Ground Zero mosque.
Valley National Bank is suing Sharif El-Gamal and his real-estate company, Soho Properties, seeking $95,778 plus interest for an unrepaid loan. The firm took out a $100,000 line of credit, guaranteed by El-Gamal, from the bank in 2008, but defaulted in early 2009, according to court papers.
A spokesman for El-Gamal declined to comment yesterday.
El-Gamal moved from the firm's offices in September after his landlord initiated eviction proceedings over $39,000 in back rent.
He also failed to pay his city taxes in January and July, but agreed to a payment plan in September for $270,000, including interest..." (SOURCE)

I believe it will take a technicality like this to halt the plans and I'm sure diligent citizens will be able to dig up plenty of violations if they put some effort into it...

And, once again, I'm left baffled at the Left's fierce protection of the anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-women Islamic religion...

    More Obamacare Fallout

To her credit, Nancy Pelosi did indeed state that we needed to "pass the bill" to "find out what's in the bill." Lawmakers, insurance companies, employers and citizens are just beginning to learn how the ripple effects caused by the provisions in Obamacare will effect them...

Truthfully, Obama himself will probably be shocked to learn that because of his healthcare revolution, some in the not-so-distant future will need a doctor's note to purchase Tylenol (and up to 15,000 other over the counter meds).

"Under the new health care law, consumers using workplace pre-tax health savings accounts will soon need a doctor's note to pay for Tylenol and an estimated 15,000 other over-the-counter drugs.

Starting Jan. 1, employees who use flexible spending accounts (FSAs), health saving accounts (HSAs), or health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) to pay for common medications such as pain relievers, cold medicines, antacids and allergy medications will need prescriptions. The new rules don't apply to insulin..." (SOURCE)

Throw this onto the pile of all the other adverse effects this new first-step-to-single-payer-healthcare will have on the average American...

For the first time I can remember, friends of mine that are nurses are being laid off and having trouble finding new jobs. Now, we know there aren't less people getting sick or less dying... So, is it fear of Obama-care-to-come?

Bald Eagles More Valued Than Humans?

So, anyone that watched Glenn Beck's show yesterday saw one of his guests succinctly sum up the state of our country by pointing out that a person that destroys an eagle's egg will go to jail for as long as five years, but to abort a human fetus is 100% legal. (They were discussing the Tides Foundation's Story of Stuff).

Really puts things into perspective I think...

So, I was thinking last night...since the whole argument for abortion being legal is the fact that it's not "a life" until it breathes air...can't we use the bald eagle law to negate this? I mean, how can they prove that eagle is a life and will be an eagle one day if they won't acknowledge the same for the human fetus? Legally I mean.

    Et Tu, College Kids?

"The Obamamania that gripped college campuses two years ago is gone. An Associated Press-mtvU poll found college students cooling in their support for President Barack Obama, a fresh sign of trouble for Democrats struggling to rekindle enthusiasm among many of these newest voters for the crucial midterm elections in three weeks.
Forty-four percent of students approve of the job Obama is doing as president, while 27 percent are unhappy with his stewardship, according to the survey conducted late last month. That's a significant drop from the 60 percent who gave the president high marks in a May 2009 poll. Only 15 percent had a negative opinion back then..." (SOURCE)

If Republicans can actually recapture Congress this November (it's looking good!), they better not blow the support in the next two years and ruin our chances of making sure Obama is a one-term President. If they get in and go right back to their own GOP pork and spending...then I guess we'll deserve whatever we get...

    I HEART Boobies?

These bracelets are all the rage at my boys' school. "Everyone is wearing them." My boys' ELEMENTARY SCHOOL that is. And apparently, I am the only mom that finds it inappropriate.

"But all the proceeds go to cancer research." Give me a break, like one of those kids gives a rat's ass about breast cancer... So I guess you'd let your daughter wear 'I Heart Balls' or 'I Heart Anus' for prostate and colon cancer?

No? Yeah, I didn't think so.

There should be some things that are reserved for bar softball leagues and off limits to 10, 11 and 12 year old boys and girls. If they're ALLOWED to wear "I love Boobies" bracelets in the open at that age, God only knows what they'll be doing behind our backs at 16...

    Obama's Report Card

  • First, The Caucus (a NYT's blog), has an interesting piece that highlights Obama's reflection on his first two years in office:

"In the magazine article, Mr. Obama reflects on his presidency, admitting that he let himself look too much like “the same old tax-and-spend Democrat,” realized too late that “there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects” and perhaps should have “let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts” in the stimulus."

He also predicted that in the next two years his administration would focus less on trying to pass new legislation and more on implementing and consolidating what passed in the first two years.(READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE)

This article also says that the President doesn't particularly like Camp David...siting the reason as preferring more of an Urban setting...

  • "All told, 85 percent of Americans are either angry about the economy or at least dissatisfied with it, according to the survey, produced for ABC and Yahoo! News by Langer Research Associates. That makes economic discontent even higher than anger or dissatisfaction with "the way the federal government is working," at 71 percent in an ABC News/Washington Post poll last week." (SOURCE)

  • "The White House may view the last 18 months as historic, racking up a legislative scorecard that includes a $787 billion stimulus package and an overhaul of the health care system.

A majority of women, however, see it as a failure, according to a new poll conducted by Kellyanne Conway for The Kitchen Cabinet, a conservative women’s group.

Fifty-six percent of women consider the health care reform law a failure, while 29 percent view it as a success, according to the poll.

The economic stimulus package is viewed only slightly more favorably: 53 percent say it was a failure, while 34 percent say it was a success.

Among independent women – a group that Democrats and Republicans are battling over – a majority viewed the health care overhaul, the stimulus package, the auto industry bailout and the Troubled Asset Relief Program as failures, the poll found." (SOURCE)

  • "What optimism there is about the immediate future doesn’t carry over to the longer term. Pluralities of those polled say they’re not hopeful they will have enough money in retirement and expect they will have to keep working to make up the difference. More than 50 percent aren’t confident or are just somewhat confident their children will have better lives than they have.

“I don’t think they’ve got a chance,” says Brian Rich, a 65-year-old retiree with three children in their 20s who lives in Gloucester, Massachusetts. “I’m very angry at what’s going on in this country. Change is being forced upon us.” (SOURCE)
  • From the Brains of Babes?

Remember the school laptop spying case? As much as I agreed that a school should NOT be able to activate a webcam when the laptop is in my kids' bedroom, the thought of a lawsuit and subsequent $600,000 dollar reward makes me shudder a bit.

"Lower Merion School District has settled the webcam case that made national headlines after students accused school officials of spying by using the webcam installed on school-issued laptops.
The School District Board approved a $610,000 settlement Monday night..." (SOURCE)

What money does a school have other than tax payer money taken from residents for the sole purpose of educating that township or city's children? So, to sue and take almost a million dollars from that school system (which is most likely already under-funded...) seems, well, a bit evil.

What was the money for? See, now the litigious nature of this family has lost my sympathy. The school should have removed the webcams from take-home laptops, but to shell out $600,000?

    Where's the CHANGE?

I'd wager that even Obama fans and apologists must admit that the last 2 years have been just more of the same... This might be the ultimate in hypocrisy (though letting unions be the only ones to keep their "Cadillac" health plans runs a close second):

"If at first you don't succeed, get some friends in high places to shut your opponents up. That's the latest Washington power play, as Democrats and liberals attack the Chamber of Commerce and independent spending groups in an attempt to stop businesses from participating in politics.

Since the Supreme Court's January decision in Citizens United v. FEC, Democrats in Congress have been trying to pass legislation to repeal the First Amendment for business, though not for unions. Having failed on that score, they're now turning to legal and political threats. Funny how all of this outrage never surfaced when the likes of Peter Lewis of Progressive insurance and George Soros helped to make Democrats financially dominant in 2006 and 2008...." (READ THE ENTIRE STORY) *my emphasis.

Is free speech just a neat concept... until it might displace the Speaker of the House...?

    Fix-A-Fight Phone App

"Michael McGonigle, a 50-year-old marital therapist, developed “Fix a Fight,” an application aimed at patching disagreements among couples. Using technology to help solve relationship trouble may seem counterintuitive when studies show computers — including smart phones — erode family time.

“Handheld devices have more potential for healing than people think,” McGonigle said. “Instead of being a dividing, distracting, isolating thing, I think technology can bring people together." (SOURCE)

So many people I know throw in the towel before ever attempting mediation or counseling of any kind...so if this is medium that will be accepted by both spouses, I say go for it. Some times just a simple validation of feelings is needed to smooth things over and maybe this app will elucidate that for clueless couples...

Speaking of apps...my very, very favorite? AllSport GPS. You enter what you're doing: walking, running, biking, etc and it tracks you. It lets you know your distance, speed, elevations, etc. LOVE this app. Well worth the $10. (Unfortunately, this was discovered after paying for two that absolutely sucked...)

    Pickets, Pickets Everywhere!

The protesters at the soon-to-be Krispy Kreme near me are still going strong (though, they were the Electricians and now they're the Carps...) In the past few weeks I've noticed pickets (and the infamous inflatable rat) everywhere. Seven different locations that I can think of off the top of my head within a 10 mile radius of my house...

It would seem that more and more companies are hiring independent contractors despite the possible intimidation by the unions here in the City of brotherly love and its suburbs. In this area that's huge!

For those not familiar with union politics in the northeast...just read about the Plumbers and the Comcast building here in Philly. That story is quintessential union thuggery.

You have to wonder if they're finally losing their stronghold here?

    Meghan Hasn't Seen DWTS

And here I thought she was the one "cool Republican" all down with pop culture and stuff...

A few weeks ago I was wondering out loud about how jealous Media hound Meghan McCain was that Brsitol Palin was on Dancin' With The Stars this season.

Then last night I happened upon this article:

"The Dish Rag asked Meghan if she has seen Bristol Palin on Dancing With The Stars.

"I don't watch Dancing With the Stars. I watch HBO and a lot of news," she said.

Would Meghan ever consider going on the show? "No one wants to see me dance. I dance like a white girl. It takes a lot of tequila to get me dancing." (SOURCE)

I knew it! Yeah Meghan, Suuuure you haven't seen it.

I had never seen even 10 minutes of an episode prior to this season...

but Bristol Palin AND The Situation?!

I'd bet a kid you haven't missed a minute...and neither have I. Then again, I really am a Republican that knows just as much about Pop Culture as I do politics...

Speaking of nasty and jealous...over at HuffPo all they can do is talk about the fact that they don't think Brsitol is losing any weight dancing...

    2012: Most & Least Likely

The other day when I posted my weird science 2012 candidate creation the discussion turned to the reality of our 2012 choices. (Always reality with you people!) ;) Fitting nicely into the topic, RightWing News released a poll today of Conservative bloggers weighing in on just that very subject. Bloggers were asked to choose the candidates from a comprehensive list that they would be MOST and LEAST likely to vote for in the 2012 Presidential election.

Sarah Palin won the short list and Chris Christie the long list on the MOST likely. And for the LEAST likely, I was shocked to see Mike Huckabee in the number one slot and happy to see Mike Huckabee in the Second.

Go look at the full list. Mike Pence is high on the list, and I know some of you had some issues with him...refresh my memory...

    Two Years!

Two years ago today I gave birth to the baby that we were told would never be. 10 years after the first and 8 years after the 'last,' little Jude made his way into this world.

He is the sweetest thing you can imagine and is a constant joy in my life (helping to offset the realities of having two tweens!) So on this day I'd like to celebrate the fallibility of man (specifically doctors) and thank God that their 'you no longer ovulate' diagnosis was wrong!

Happy 2nd Birthday to my favorite Noodle Bug in the world!

And what better birthday present for my future hockey star than the FLYERS winning the first game of the NHL season last night by defeating Crosby, Maklin and the Penguins in their brand new house ! WooHoo!

    Race, Race, Race

'Location, location, location' is to real estate as 'race, race, race' is to the Obama presidency.

    Sadly.

And it's not the Tea party's fault. And (R)'s don't hate him because his dad was Black. But, this is a wonderful example of what happens when you cast a vote based on race alone. As I have stated before, I fully understand the country (specifically African Americans) wanting a Black President. It speaks volumes for the progress of the country and its citizens. I feel the same about a woman President. But not strong enough to abandon my ideology to achieve it. Unfortunately, the desire to elect the first Black President trumped the fact that he was just a fledgling Senator with no business or executive experience.

Now the liberal left is disillusioned. The Right is furious. And African American support remains unscathed (91%!!!). But what was to be expected, really? He wasn't ready for this job. He said as much himself right before he announced he was running.

So, the President that SHOULD HAVE transcended race has exasperated it instead. According to Rasmussen Reports, voters are "less optimistic" about Black-White relations than they were a year ago. (source) Since Obama stepped into the oval office, it seems everything has been about race. The beer summit, the Black Panthers, the DoJ's policies, etc.

But, I still absolutely believe a seasoned executive of identical race could have provided a vastly different outcome...on the country AND race relations.

    November Elections Could Save Us...

For those of us that have been experiencing serious grief over the state of affairs in this country... For those of us who had to stop watching Glenn beck because it became to frightening to see the truth about who is in charge... For those of us who seriously and honestly believe Obama's policies will irreparably damage our country... The new Gallup poll should serve as inspiration:
"Yesterday, Gallup delivered its first 2010 "likely voter" poll and the results floored the political community. In the generic ballot question, which asks which party a voter would favor in a generic House contest, Gallup gave the GOP a 46% to 42% edge. But then Gallup applied two versions of its "likely voter" turnout model. In its "high turnout model," Republicans led Democrats by 53% to 40%. In its "low turnout model," the GOP edge was a stunning 56% to 38%. That kind of margin in favor of Republicans has never been seen in Gallup surveys.

What should worry Democrats most is that the "low turnout model" is typical of recent midterm elections. If the Gallup numbers hold up (and the firm cautions that "the race often tightens in the final month of the campaign"), some word more cataclysmic than "tsunami" would be needed for the Democratic losses. (SOURCE)

But, use this as MOTIVATION not comfort. Get your (Conservative) friends and family members out to vote. Be annoying. (Everyone in my circle knows they will get calls and texts from me on election days...) If Obama has Republican majorities in the House and the Senate, his agenda will be stalled. The Conservatives should EMBRACE the "Party of No" mantra and follow through: no new taxes, no government waste, no new entitlements, etc.

All those that sat out in 2008 because you 'couldn't vote for McCain:' this is your chance to make it up. Vote.

    Military Voters

There have been countless allegations raised against Eric Holder and his DoJ. From the seemingly excused Philadelphia Black Panther voter intimidation to the whistle blower claiming the Justice Department doesn't consider complaints by White people to be valid...

But, to me, the most egregious dereliction of office has been Holder's refusal to enforce the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Enforcement Act (MOVE Act).

"For months, critics have charged Justice with being reluctant to enforce the 2009 Military and Overseas Voter Enforcement Act (MOVE Act), probably because the Obama political team suspects that soldiers tend to vote Republican. The MOVE Act requires states to mail ballots at least 45 days before Election Day to military personnel and affiliated civilians stationed abroad, unless the states secure a waiver under limited circumstances and produce foolproof alternative means for ensuring military voting rights. The department insists it is rigorously enforcing this law. Its actions, however, are unconvincing.

Justice official Rebecca Wertz seemed at a February conference to encourage states to seek waivers rather than comply with the MOVE Act. The department has refused demands from Sen. John Cornyn, the Texas Republican who authored the act, to let the public know the status of any efforts to guarantee compliance. Then the department let Wisconsin off the hook by allowing the Badger State to mail ballots just 32 days in advance.

Now, in what is probably the Justice Department's worst dereliction, it has taken no discernible action against New Mexico and Connecticut for appearing to be guilty of widespread failure to comply with the law, nor against various noncompliant counties in at least five other states..." Vindicated

I don't like beards. Truthfully, I don't know any girls that like beards.

Small, meticulously groomed goatees or soul patches are okay and a VERY short, very well groomed beard if you need to cover the proof of rough teenage years... But anything else and I just shudder. Can I be frank? It's really is just pubes on your face and that's nothing short of disturbing. And to most women it just says, lazy.

So, I know (from personal experience) men with beards get really upset to hear that most women skeeve beards. They argue with me and claim their girl loves it. Sorry, I'm always 'the messenger.' It seems to be my lot in life.

So yesterday the annual Ig Nobel awards were given and...

"Researchers from the US were awarded the Public Health Prize for finding that bearded scientists posed a risk to their families because bacteria used in the laboratory stubbornly stayed in their facial hair even after washing.
They tested the beards of scientists for three types of bacteria and found they remained present in the hair follicles even after washing and shampooing."

So, now they not only LOOK bad, they are riddled with shampoo-resistant bacteria. Ummm, Ewww. Ahem... What are you waiting for?

How Long Since You've Taken A Civics Exam?

"Are you more knowledgeable than the average citizen? The average score for all 2,508 Americans taking the following test was 49%; college educators scored 55%. Can you do better?"

    Civics Quiz
    You answered 23 out of 33 correctly — 69.70 %

Is 69% failing...or a 'D?' Terrible. Could the above paragraph be true? Average American gets a 49% and college professors 55%?

(They do let you know which questions you missed and give you the correct answers)

Your turn. Hopefully you fair better than I did.

    More Of Your Money Wasted

Senator Tom Coburn just released a report of government wasteful spending. I often wonder what we could find if 'We the People' hired a company to find and eradicate all government waste...

These are two that I found particularly horrible:

Lawmakers secured $273,000 for a program in Blue Springs, Mo., aimed at fighting Goth culture.

Fighting Goth culture? 8.4 million jobs lost and we're using precious tax dollars to fight kids from wearing all black...and listening to The Sisters of Mercy?

This is the handiwork of a Republican: US Rep Sam Graves

"Congress refused to return the money, and that spring the watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste singled out the goth grant as one of the worst examples of pork-barrel spending its staff had encountered as it filtered through thousands for its 2002 Pig Book. Soon, media across the nation were mocking the grant, with editorials suggesting, among other things, that the federal government could save a lot of money by simply buying goth kids bright clothes and happy music.

But Graves and officials from the Youth Outreach Unit (an office run by the city of Blue Springs and its police department), which had requested the grant, responded that goth culture posed a serious threat to Blue Springs. "It is my hope that this funding will give the officers in the Youth Outreach Unit the tools they need to identify goth culture leaders that are preying on our kids," Graves stated in a press release. And Blue Springs Youth Outreach Unit officer Colby Lalli hinted to the AP reporter that goth killers were roaming the streets in Blue Springs. "It's not just the clothes they wear. We're seeing kids on the unit, whether it be suicide or homicide, they're just one more culture in our community that is at big risk, and we need to deal with that," Lalli said.

"About 35 students have been identified with the goth culture," a Graves spokesman told the Ledger-Enquirer newspaper in Columbus, Georgia. "They're doing self-mutilation, animal sacrifices, the sort of violent behavior and drug use that possibly could lead up to what happened at Columbine in 1999 with Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris." (source)

    The other one:
Taxpayers to Pay $27M for Lowercase Street Signs in NYC

"The Federal Highway Administration is requiring the city's Department of Transportation to change uppercase letters to a combination of upper and lower, saying it will improve safety. The administration says studies show motorists find it easier to read lowercase signs.

Municipalities across the country are also expected to comply with the changes, and will have until 2018 to do so."

Mayor Bloomberg claims he knows nothing about this Really?

"Product of Conception" Saves the Day

"The aggregate of tissues present in a fertilized gestation; in a pregnancy that has been terminated or aborted, chorionic villi and/or fetal tissue must be present in a specimen to make a definitive diagnosis of intrauterine–as opposed to ectopic pregnancy; decidualized and secretory endometrium may be found in either intrauterine and ectopic pregnancies."

"Two men are facing charges in Upper Darby for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl, and police are using DNA from the victim's aborted fetus to determine which of the men impregnated her."

Police obtained a search warrant for the "product of conception."

There are certain stories that stand out regardless of how many I read in a certain sitting... This was one of those stories. I can't help but think that this would be one of the tales told by NOW or NARAL as they lobbied Congress...or testified by SCOTUS even. A young girl that was impregnated by rape, but saved because her aborted baby product of conception was used to provide DNA that nabbed and convicted the rapist. Win-Win situation! Or is it?

But, the WHOLE story is that the girl (14 yr.) and her friend (18 yr.) willingly had sex with TWO men (36 & 37 yrs old) on their front steps in exchange for dinner. No one knew until the mother of the 14 year old discovered she was pregnant.

Every aspect of this story gives me the creeps. A girl that will have sex for a paid dinner. A 14 year old that will have sex on the front steps of a house. Grown men that will have sex with 14 & 18 year olds. Grown men that would offer teen girls food for sex. The conception and subsequent death of an innocent baby product of conception and the looming, horrid thought that that baby is probably better off...
