Why I'm NOT voting Republican.
Quick break from the field, so here goes. With all the excitement coming up on Tuesday anyone who knows me would think I'd be chomping at the bit to vote. Well, I'm only half excited. I am rather pumped about voting against the Democrat for Michigan Governor,
Virg Bernero. I chose to remain a resident of Michigan over Kansas (where I'm stationed in the Army) purposely to vote against the party that put in that awful hag
Jennifer Grandholm. Virg is a sacrificial lamb,
Grandholm destroyed Michigan to the point that I think Michiganders would elect a dead moose over any Democrat for Governor. I unfortunately won't get to actually vote against her because this year, her terms are up- so I'll take it out on the poor bastard trying to fill her seat and vote Republican. The guy running against him seems like an alright guy.
However, that leaves me with a horrible choice for my congressional vote. Currently I'm represented in Michigan's 7th Congressional district by liberal douche bag
and Obama lackey Mark Schaur. Now it would seem a no brainer that anyone would be better than Mark... but not so it seems. My candidate was Brian Rooney, Tea Party favorite, Marine, and defender of the Marines accused and acquitted at Haditha. However, the 7th Congressional district and Michigan Republican Party in all it's retarded wisdom chose Republican Establishment candidate and over all looser
Tim Walberg. I've met Tim on a few occasions, and helped him get elected back in 04' by putting up signs for his campaign. I've always regretted it. In his two years he voted for TARP and huge give-a-ways to Big Agriculture. He's a special interest shill, and represents all that is wrong with the Republican Party. Everything we hate about wanna-be Ruling Class Republicans, this guy personifies it. Basically he feels entitled to his seat, and now the Michigan Republican Party sees fit to grace him with it again even though his first and only term was an utter failure.
I'm not voting or going along for that.
Think about it, if Tim wins... what have
we won? Answer: Nothing. We put Tim in there in 04' and all he did was put us further into debt, and grew government. He's just like a Democrat, only sneakier. That's not a win at all. So I will be "throwing my vote away" on the Libertarian candidate just like I did for Bob Barr over John McCain last cycle.
I'm done blindly supporting a party.
Maybe once they've lost a few the Republican Establishment will learn their days of business as usual are done. I'd rather have Progressive Mark Schauer, least then I don't have to feel responsible for the debacle and might just teach Steel and Co. a lesson... or help to at least.
They can lecture me all day over at
Blonde Sagacity just like they did when I voted for Barr over McCain and outright left the party over McCain's vote for TARP... but frankly I don't give a shit. We got ourselves into this mess with the "lesser of two evils strategy" and I won't play ball anymore. I learned my lesson, and it's time Conservatives learned theirs. To all my Michigan readers (the largest group of you out there)... screw Tim Walberg. The real victory in this election isn't coming Tuesday, it already came. With anti-establishment candidates like Rand Paul (who will likely win) or Christine O'Donnell and Linda McMahon (who are going to loose) we may not win the election battle but we win the war against the Republican Establishment. The same Republican Establishment that owns a good chunk of the mess we as a country are in today. In the long run, the willingness to loose on principle instead of winning at any cost is going to save this country. If we sell our souls, this Tea Party phenomenon and all our work has been for nothing.
