Longer School Days & Years

"Students beware: The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way.

Obama says American kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe.

"Now, I know longer school days and school years are not wildly popular ideas," the president said earlier this year. "Not with Malia and Sasha, not in my family, and probably not in yours. But the challenges of a new century demand more time in the classroom." (SOURCE)

Oh, how I wish he would have been speaking to my sons' school when he made this insane proposal (THREE more hours a day and only 4 weeks for summer vacation). My 6th grader's retort?

"Well, HE had summers off as a kid and still managed to become PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES."

He did indeed.

Homeschoolers consistently score better than public school kids and they get all their work done in 3-4 hours a day... Hmmm. Think Obama's speech has anything to do with the NEA?
