20 Worst Foods in America

This list comes as we read that Americans are eating less fruit and have never eaten enough vegetables... So, as you read these depressing facts about your favorite restaurants, you can put these calorie counts in this perspective: it takes a full hour of fast walking/jogging to work off approximately 200 calories. That's all. An hour of sweat for a measly serving of chips...

This list from Men's Health Magazine amazed me. I think I read through it about 6 times...

20) McDonald's (5 pieces) Chicken Strips with creamy ranch sauce, 830 calories (add a large fries & soda and your exceeding 1750 calories!)

19) Jamba Juice Chocolate Moo'd Power Smoothie, 900 calories (This 'smoothie' has more sugar than "two pints of Ben and Jerry's Butter Pecan ice cream.")

18) Pepperidge Farm Roasted Chicken Pot Pie, 1020 calories

17) Ruby Tuesday Bella Turkey Burger, 1145 calories

16)Chipotle Mexican Grilled Chicken Burrito, 1179 calories

15) Macaroni Grill Double Macaroni 'n' Cheese, 1210 calories ("It's like feeding your kid 1 1/2 boxes of Kraft mac 'n' cheese.)

14) Quizno's Classic Italian sandwich, 1370 calories

13) On the Border Grande Taco Salad with Taco Beef, 1450 calories (" Five different On the Border salads on the menu contain more than 1,100 calories each.")

12) Carl's Jr. Double Six Dollar Burger, 1520 calories

11) Lonestar 20 oz T-bone, 1540 calories ("Add a baked potato and Lonestar's Signature Lettuce Wedge, and this is a 2,700-calorie meal!")

10) Bob Evans Caramel Banana Pecan Cream Stacked and Stuffed Hotcakes, 1540 calories

9) Chili's Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream, 1600 calories (that's the equivalent of 3 Big Macs!)

8)P.F. Chang's Pork Lo Mein, 1820 calories (this is 4X the amount of fat & carbs you should have in a day)

7) Chili's Honey Chipotle Crispers with Chipotle Sauce, 2040 calories

6) On the Border Dos XX Fish Tacos with Rice and Beans, 2110 calories

5) Uno Chicago Grill Chicago Classic Deep Dish Pizza, 2310 calories (This one I find to be the worst offender...people probably get this "personal pie" for their kids and it's more calories than they should have in an entire day. Thank God our area has Jules- best pizza ever and only 180 a slice!)

4) Macaroni Grill Spaghetti and Meatballs with Meat Sauce, 2430 calories

3) On the Border Stacked Border Nachos, 2740 calories

2) Chili's Awesome Blossom, 2710 calories (this is an APPETIZER!)

1) Outback Steakhouse Aussie Cheese Fries with Ranch Dressing, 2900 calories ("Even if you split this "starter" with three friends, you'll have downed a dinner's worth of calories before your entree arrives. Follow this up with a steak, sides, and a dessert and you could easily break the 3,500 calorie barrier.")

McDonald's looks like a health food store compared to these other restaurants! I have never been a calorie-counting nazi, but I roughly try to keep my caloric intake in the 1200-1500 calories a day these numbers floored me... There's a great application you can download for your Blackberry or Droid called AllSport GPS. Once you see how hard you have to work to get rid of a minimal amount of calories, it kinda've cure the pull to eat out...
