Death of the Doggie Bag Down-under? Today's Sign that the Apocalypse is Upon Us!
"Ask for a doggie bag at the Wafu “guilty free Japanese restaurant” in Australia and it will cost you. The owner is now charging customers 30% more if they fail to finish their meal. The policy states, “Finishing your meal requires that everything is eaten except lemon slices, gari (sushi ginger) and wasabi. Please also note that vegetables and salad on the side are NOT decorations; they are part of the meal too." [source]
Though some of our parents / grandparents would agree with the principle of “waste not, want not” and enforced similar policies around the dinner table growing up, I think the death of the doggie bag and such prescriptive measures in the name of sustainability might not be the best idea for the food service industry. That being said, any publicity is good publicity they say, and this restaurant is surely causing a stir. For now.
