"Cadillac" Health Care & First Responders

This morning, as the Congressional Democrats of the self-proclaimed "most transparent administration ever" meet in secret behind bolted doors, we hear leaks that Obama is encourages said Democrats to get over their resistance to taxing the "Cadillac health care plans."

"...President Obama signaled to House Democratic leaders Wednesday that they'll have to drop their opposition to taxing high-end health insurance plans to pay for health coverage for millions of uninsured Americans.

In a meeting at the White House, Obama expressed his preference for the insurance tax contained in the Senate's health overhaul bill, but largely opposed by House Democrats and organized labor, Democratic aides said. The aides spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting was private.

House Democrats want to raise income taxes on high-income individuals instead and are reluctant to abandon that approach, while recognizing that they will likely have to bend on that and other issues so that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., can maintain his fragile 60-vote majority support for the bill." Now, as giddy as I am over the prospect of this administration alienating another group of their backers...and as much as I might enjoy seeing the almighty labor union leaders get royally screwed by the very candidate they "encouraged" all their minions to vote for...

...it would really suck for the first responders. Yes, police and fire do what they do for paltry pay checks...but the health care benefits and pension plans work to ease the pain of the crappy wages. If these plans were heavily taxed, it would seriously be an undo burden on their families.

I feel bad these guys that actually work and risk their lives might have to go down with the corrupt Union ship...
