Obama, Eric Holder and the New Black Panther Party

"The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights asked Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Wednesday to name a Justice Department official to oversee the production of what it called "our overdue information requests" for documents in the dismissal of a civil complaint against members of the New Black Panther Party accused of disrupting a Philadelphia polling place in the November elections..." (Read the entire article)

We could spend days discussing all that's wrong with the Justice Department dropping these charges...but one thing I didn't know about this case was that the Black Panthers never responded to charges or reported to court. Not only did they snub their nose at the freedom to vote in a democracy, but they snubbed their nose at our justice system and were promptly rewarded for doing so.

Commission Chairman Gerald A. Reynolds has been unsuccessful in obtaining any recodes regarding this case, and makes a point everyone (regardless of political affiliation or race) should wholeheartedly agree with:

"If you swap out the New Black Panther Party in this case for neo-Nazi groups or the Ku Klux Klan, you likely would have had a different outcome," he said in an August interview. "A single law, a single rule should be applied across the board."

This, Mr. Obama, is one of the few times where your race does matter...It looks real bad for the first Black President and the first Black Attorney General to come into office and drop charges against Black Panthers that were walking with billy clubs at polling places...
