Profile of An Independent Voter

I know some of you took offense to my mini-rant against the elusive "independent voter" the other day... But, as I said in the comments, a non-vote or 3rd party candidte vote in protest is not the "independent" action I was referring to.

I recently found out that a very good friend of mine voted for Obama. The fact that he regrets it now doesn't ease my shock and quite frankly my utter disillusionment. This is someone that has always voted (R) and a SMALL BUSINESS owner. Someone I have looked to many times for financial and business advice.

Why did he vote for Obama? It pains me to impart this, but he says he read McCain's book and Obama's book and Obama really impressed him!? The Audacity of Hope with all its Marxist undertones impressed a small business owner? Ugh.

So, now he has a major case of buyer's remorse...but if he would have had a core set of principles that he voted by and not been wooed by a flashy candidte he wouldn't be in a position to regret anything.

Hence my problem with the Independent vacillating voter in a dissappointed little nutshell.

Let's Lose Elections!

I think I'm okay with losing elections for a while. I mean, can it get any worse than O! in the white house and Congress in full on (D) control?! Let's purge the RINOs., Let's lose some elections dammit!

Now, I know in the past I have resisted protest votes in anything but a primary. I have lamented the sad plight of the third party candidate. But no more. This is the time. We have nothing but useless flotsam and jetsam to lose.

(Though I should say that New Jersey is an example of the third party NOT always being the better choice. From what I've read thus far, Christie is a better candidate than Dagget --and not just because his name...)

I am perplexed about Newt's endorsement of what the State-run media is calling a "moderate Republican." He is voting his head instead of his heart (and conscience) and that's how Pennsylvania kept getting Arlen Specter... It's bad politics.

The MSM is couching this as "Conservatives VS Republicans" and basically claiming the Conservative wing of the GOP wants to purge all moderates... But to them Dede Scozzafava is a moderate:

"Scozzafava is an abortion rights advocate who favors gay marriage. It would be one thing if Scozzafava balanced that social liberalism with fiscal conservatism. But as a state assemblywoman, she voted for massive tax increases, Democratic budgets and a $180 million state bank bailout. She also supported the trillion-dollar federal stimulus package — which every House Republican voted against.

More troubling, Scozzafava in past elections has embraced the ballot line of the Working Families Party — a socialist outfit whose political DNA is intertwined with scandal-ridden ACORN. ACORN and the WFP have shared office space in New York City, Arkansas and Illinois. ACORN head Bertha Lewis, a close Scozzafava friend and political supporter, wears a second hat as vice chairman of the WFP. The WFP has been listed in ACORN documents dating back to 2000 as an “affiliate.” (source)

If THAT is moderate, yes...let's purge!

Google "Pitbull Attack" On Any Given Day

A one year old boy has died after being mauled by a dog. The Merced County Sheriff's office says a 65-pound Pit Bull locked his jaws around the child's throat and would not let go. The youngster was under the care of his babysitter at the time. Merced County, Calif.

A 2-year-old boy who wandered away from his babysitter's house and into range of a chained pit bull has died after the dog attacked him. Matthew Clayton Hurt was pronounced dead Wednesday at a hospital in Texarkana after he was taken there following the attack that morning. PRESCOTT, Ark.

A police officer broke his arm fighting off an attack by a pit bull on the Northwestside. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Sgt. Ronald Brezik shattered his forearm near the wrist after he was attacked at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 4000 block of North Vinewood Avenue. Brezik had responded to a call that a vicious dog in the neighborhood had bitten a person. Indianapolis, IN

The [five year old] boy was riding his bike on the street near his home when the dog attacked him. "The dog jumped him while he was on his bike and knocked him off his bike and started to attack him," she said. "The dog got his face first that's where most of the damage is to his face and took off his whole cheek.” Moffitt was inside her home and heard the screams and ran towards her son. WEST VALLEY CITY Utah

A Gaithersburg woman and her two teenage daughters were hospitalized Wednesday after the family's pit bull attacked them in their home, Montgomery County police said. The 35-year-old mother stabbed the dog with a kitchen knife after it bit her 15-year-old and 19-year-old daughters, said Lucille Baur, a police spokeswoman. The police's Animal Services Division, which was called to the scene, took the dog to a veterinarian for treatment and observation. Gaithersburg, MD

I tried it with a bunch of other breeds...pug attack, poodle attack, great dane attack, mastiff attack. None garnered the same kind of results.

Your Kid Probably Isn't The Golden Sprog...

"The New York Times reported Thursday that Disney is offering a refund to buyers of its ubiquitous “Baby Einstein” videos, which did not, as promised, turn babies into wunderkinds. Apparently, all those puppets, bright colors, and songs were what we had feared all along—a mind-numbing way to occupy infants.

This news has rocked the parenting world, which had embraced the videos as a miraculous child-rearing staple. Videos that make your kid smarter while you prepare dinner? Genius!

Still, the idea that a caper this big could be pulled off (according to the Times, in “a 2003 study, a third of all American babies from 6 months to 2 years old had at least one 'Baby Einstein' video") is mind-boggling. Disney’s refund is about as close as we’re going to get to an actual admission that we were sold snake oil, and it casts a pall over the other "educational" toys out there..." (source)

You can always scam parents by stroking their egos...whether it be recognizing the "genius" they spawned or the burgeoning model. We all want to think we gave birth to the next uber brainiac, America's next top model or sports superstar. I am happy to report though I did buy a onesie for my little one that proclaims him "The Chosen One", I never purchased anything Baby Einstein. It was just way too yuppie for me. I figure the best thing I can give my kids for their intellectual future is my time and therefore their security. I think that will be much more valuable than DVDs, classes or pre,pre,pre-school classes could ever be.

The first commenter under this article reminded me of a few of you :) Hence the title.

"This is what happens when every new young parent thinks their kid is the Golden Sprog."

Shouldn't you be too embarrassed to sue someone because a VIDEO didn't make your kid a genius...?!

Et Tu Wiki?

Last night, motivated by a bought of insomnia coupled with a touch of narcissism, I went to look at Zombie's Wiki page to once again view this site among the references there. I know, it's a small claim to fame...but mine nonetheless.

But alas, Zombie's Wiki page was gone. Deleted by someone named Black Kite. That person claimed it was by overwhelming consensus.

Apparently Zombie isn't famous enough to be in an online reader-written encyclopedia. And here I thought that was Wiki's appeal --the ability to have a more comprehensive scope given the lack of publishing constraints and the ability to exist in real time.

How many blogs reference Zombietime and use his photos? His (maybe her, but we'll say "his" based on the "protest babes" commentary) photos have appeared in Michelle Malkin's book among others and in the RW blogosphere is there anyone that doesn't know him and his work?

Reading the "should we delete or not arguments" only exasperated my insomnia. I couldn't help but wonder why he was nominated for deletion to begin with? Who decides that? And that got me thinking, maybe a current Wiki member can nominate the Kos Kids' leader for deletion?

Americans Regretting the CHANGE?

A new poll shows an interesting snapshot of the American mindset that sharply contradicts what Hollywood and the MSM would have us believe...

40% of Americans consider themselves CONSERVATIVE, 36% say they're MODERATE and only 20% identify themselves as LIBERAL.

"Forty percent of Americans describe their political views as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 20% as liberal. This marks a shift from 2005 through 2008, when moderates were tied with conservatives as the most prevalent group." (View Poll)

It looks like many Americans regret CHANGING anything. ...And other polls reflect the same sentiment:

"A 2008 poll by Pew researchers had found that those in favor of keeping abortion legal outnumbered opponents, 54 percent to 40 percent. In the new Pew poll, the gap has narrowed: 47 percent of those surveyed said abortion should be legal in all or most cases, and 45 percent said it should be illegal in all or most cases — a difference within the poll’s margin of sampling error.

The new survey did not find the reasons for the shift in opinion. But Pew researchers pointed out that the shift has occurred since the election of President Obama, a Democrat who supports abortion rights but has often spoken about the need to reduce the number of abortions. New York Times/CBS News polls, as well as others, found no such shift after Bill Clinton — also a Democrat who supports abortion rights — took office. Pew has no comparable data on the issue dating back that far."(NYT)

And we already know that skepticism of Man made Global warming continues to rise.

Truthfully, these polls make me less inclined to gloat at the Libs and much more inclined to loathe the "Independents." Who are these people that vacillate between ideologies? Who are these people that choose by candidate as opposed to a core belief system? How do you live 30+ years and still not know what you believe this country should look like, if you agree with the right to abortion, if you agree with the use of the death penalty or if you think America should boast a big or small government? When it comes to politics "Independent" isn't a compliment...

Keep Your SUV, Kill Your Dog

"They're faithful, friendly and furry — but under their harmless, fluffy exteriors, dogs and cats, the world's most popular house pets, use up more energy resources in a year than driving a car, a new book says.

In their book "Time to Eat the Dog: The Real Guide to Sustainable Living", New Zealand-based architects Robert and Brenda Vale say keeping a medium-sized dog has the same ecological impact as driving 10,000 km (6,213 miles) a year in a 4.6 liter Land Cruiser.

...Instead they recommend keeping "greener," smaller, and more sustainable pets, such as goldfish, hamsters, chickens or rabbits." (source)

I guess this "new finding" means the PETA freaks and the Sierra Club wackos must fight to the death. I'm thinking a Pay-Per-View event is totally in order. Maybe Pink VS. Leonardo DiCaprio? Or would she beat him too quickly to justify the event charge?

We Gotta Take the Power Back!

Imagine Michael Stipe (the lead singer of REM) buys a car and after the money has exchanged hands the dealer gives him a list of places he can't go with said car. I doubt that would go over to well. In essence that's what the music community is trying to do right now. Once again they are facing themselves activists (and forgetting they're musicians with a collective IQ of 80) and demanding their songs not be used in interrogations (at GITMO). Well, stop recording crap and we'll stop being tortured!

Seriously though. You can't tell someone what they can do after they've purchased something. Well, maybe on Obama's America you can...but it's really naive to think that will fly.

"...Dozens of musicians endorsed a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the National Security Archive, a Washington-based independent research institute, seeking the declassification of all records related to the use of music in interrogation practices.

The artists also launched a formal protest of the use of music in conjunction with torture.

"I think every musician should be involved," said Ros anne Cash in a telephone interview Wednesday. "It seems so obvious. Music should never be used as torture."

"The fact that music I helped create was used in crimes against humanity sickens me," Tom Morello, formerly of the band Rage Against the Machine, said in a statement. "We need to end torture and close Guantanamo now." (source)

Ugh. I'd love to give Mumia-lover Tom Morello a list of things I'm disgusted with...the first being that I still like his music too much to stop listening to it (even though I vow to ever times he opens his mouth).

So in honor of all these certain-kind-of-bags-that-women-used-to-use...I'm going to think of lyrics that go with all my posts and pervert their left wing message to fit my right wing agenda:

"The rage is relentless
We need a movement with a quickness
You are the witness of change
And to counteract
We gotta take the power back

Yeah, we gotta take the power back
Come on, come on!
We gotta take the power back"
-Tom Morello, RATM

Is This Still The United States of America?!

I was thinking that in light of all that's going on this should be a new reoccurring feature. Generated by news stories we hear/read that honestly (no manufactured rage please) make us wonder if we were whisked to another country... You know the stories I mean --the yell at the television stories, the ones you have trouble writing about because you're too annoyed to maintain a cohesive thought line... Send them to me and I'll post them.

A prime example would be the story that Congress is looking for power to make it easier for them to take over privately owned companies. I am assuming the "to big to fail" proviso is to ease their anti-American consciences.

"...A bill to be introduced in Congress by a key ally of President Barack Obama would make it easier for the US government to seize control of troubled financial institutions that are considered too big to be allowed to fail, The New York Times reported.

Citing a senior administration official, the newspaper said the measure would be proposed this week by Representative Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, after extensive consultations with Treasury Department officials.

The legislation would make it easier for the government to throw out the financial company's management, wipe out the shareholders and change the terms of existing loans held by the institution, the report said.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was planning to endorse the changes in testimony before the House Financial Services Committee on Thursday, the paper noted..."(source -emphasis mine)

Is this for real? Now the government has eminent domain over your business too?!

Global Warming Naysayers

In case you missed it, HuffPo is blaming the fact that an all-time low number of Americans now believe that Global Warming is man-made on a group of 18 people. They seem to overlook the simple truth that there is too much evidence to the, oh, the globe has been on a cooling trend for the past 11 years...

According to HuffPo, the 18 MMGW Deniers are:
Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Steve Doocy, Michael Steele, George Will, Sen. James Inhofe, Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, David Bellamy, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Northern Ireland Environment Minister Sammy Wilson, Phelim McAleer, Stephen Moore (Wall Street Journal editorial board member, senior economics writer), Czech President Vaclav Klaus, Fred Barnes, Roy Spencer, former NASA scientist, Rep. John Shimkus, John Coleman (founder of The Weather Channel), and The American People.

Of course, Al Gore challenger Lord Monckton adds another interesting and exceedingly poignant perspective to the ongoing debate (he didn't make the list?).

This is how I described my household in the past when it comes to this issue:

"The Man and I are conscious of the need for Conservation. I have talked about this before and I wish there was a term for what we are...conservationists (or good stewards of the earth) that don't believe in man-made global warming/cooling trends. We didn't start conserving when Al Gore told us to...we always have. We are Conservationists, not Reactionaries..."

In light of this line between being a good steward of the Earth and its resources and scaring people into believing the sky is falling because they dared to buy a bottled Evian, I have asked a very GREEN friend of mine to guest post on what I believe to be the disparity between the global warming message/warnings and the facts. I look forward to his submission and the chance to look inside the thinking of the "other side" of this issue.

CAIR Has Been Honest With Us

Thanks to "non-news organizations" like FOX and talk radio, CAIR has been exposed over the past few years. All this "non-news" even led to the FBI severing it's ties with CAIR. There are constantly new stories of terror-ties and disturbing agendas exposed.

But,in all fairness...It's an organization that claims to exist to educate the public about the truths of Islam and in that regard it's been true to its mission statement.

As Islam does, CAIR discriminates against other Muslims and WOMEN:

"The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations says it represents all Muslim Americans, but former Muslim employees say it discriminates against Shiite Muslims and female Muslims – even as it accuses critics of being "anti-Muslim bigots."

According to internal documents uncovered in the bestseller "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America," top CAIR officials discriminated against Shiite Muslim employees working out of CAIR's national headquarters..." (source)

As does Islam, CAIR has tried to infiltrate our defense department for nefarious reasons:

"...The internal memo, provided to, stated that CAIR would "focus on influencing congressmen responsible for policy that directly impacts the American Muslim community."

The memo cited three House committees -- Homeland Security, Intelligence and the Judiciary -- as panels on which lawmakers preside over policy affecting American Muslims.

"We will develop national initiatives such as a lobby day and placing Muslim interns in Congressional offices," the memo read." (source)

And as Islam does, CAIR accepts jihadist money and support:

"...Those same embassies were listed in the CAIR 14th Annual Banquet’s printed program (see below) in a section titled “Thanks To: ” on page 20, which appears to give credit to supporters for the fundraiser.

Even more concerning, was the presence of the “Interests Section of Iran” – a country that does not have an embassy in the U.S., since the countries have long cut off diplomatic relations. The “Interests Section of Iran” is the de facto diplomatic representation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the United States. And therefore any gifts from the “Interests Section” to CAIR – say, a donation to a fundraiser – would constitute a gift from the government of Iran..."(Read entire story here)

So, concerned Americans (the ones that aren't concerned with PC bullcrap and will point fingers at a Muslim if that Muslim is up to no good) and "non-news organizations" need to keep the pressure on this group and others like it because the rest of America would rather repeat 9/11 than risk been seen as bigoted toward the Religion of Peace...

Obama's FAUX FOX WAR, Cont.

In light of yesterday's conversation and the "conventional wisdom" that dictates the foolishness of starting a war of words with a 24 hour news channel... what do you guys think about this take on the situation? I have read quite a few OpEds expressing (praising) the same 'strategy':

"President Obama is working systematically to marginalize the most powerful forces behind the Republican Party, setting loose top White House officials to undermine conservatives in the media, business and lobbying worlds.

Obama aides are using their powerful White House platform, combined with techniques honed in the 2008 campaign, to cast some of the most powerful adversaries as out of the mainstream and their criticism as unworthy of serious discussion.

Press secretary Robert Gibbs has mocked Limbaugh from the White House press room podium. White House aides limited access to the Chamber and made top adviser Valerie Jarrett available to reporters to disparage the group. Everyone from White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel to White House Communications Director Anita Dunn has piled on Fox News by contending it’s not a legitimate news operation.

All of the techniques are harnessed to a larger purpose: to marginalize not only the individual person or organization but also some of the most important policy and publicity allies of the national Republican Party..." (source -emphasis mine)

If they can cast all legitimate criticism of their policies/ideology as manufactured "FNC" opposition to the they win?

Philly Phanatics...

Philadelphia Phillies fans are jubilant after last night's win and return to the World Series. I guess my brother's pretty happy too...since he spent like $200 on his Jimmy Rollins jersey! Ugh. I digress. In anticipation of that jubilation turning into something more sinister (this is Philly) police were ready.

I don't know why it struck me so funny to see police officers, in their street clothes, painting poles and trees with grease... I'm sure the city will be getting sued in the next few days by some environmental group extolling the evils of greased tree bark.

The One War Obama Will Fight

"ONE IN FIVE AMERICANS WATCH FOX NEWS EACH NIGHT" ~Dick Morris, Former Clinton pollster

" Is Fox News “an arm of the Republican Party” as White House Communications Director Anita Dunn says?

Democratic and independent voters beg to differ. A national survey conducted for the League of American Voters by the Global Marketing Research Center during last week shows that 46 percent of those who watch Fox News “just about every day” are Democrats or independents as are 50 percent of those who watch it “several times each week” or more.

Overall, the survey showed that 21 percent of all American voters watched Fox News every day and 18 percent watched it several times each week. So, combined, 39 percent watched the station several times each week or more.

• Among Democrats, 17 percent watched it several times each week or more

• Among Independents, 46 percent watched the station several times each week or more

• And among Republicans, 55 percent watched it several times each week or more

The survey indicated that 11 percent of all American voters watched CNN “just about every day” and 20 percent watched several times each week or more.

Combined, 31 percent watched CNN several times each week or more.

For MSNBC, the totals were 10 percent watched just about every day and 8 percent watched several times each week. Combined, 18 percent watched MSNBC several times each week or more." (source)

AS I have posted about in the past, I was an avid CNN viewer. I bought into the whole CNN/NYT watchers/readers were more intelligent. UNTIL I witnessed CNN make mistake after mistake (things that could have easily been fact checked) and other times practice in what could only be called purposefully misleading news stories.

So in 2003 I left CNN for good (Thankfully Bill Hemmer followed suit..) Not because I was too conservative for them ( I used to have fun arguing back and forth with Aaron brown via email...true story!), or because I objected to their ideology (POV) BUT because there was shotty reporting and blatant missteps in favor of that ideology.

So if Obama looks at Afghanistan, Iraq, North Korea and Iran and he decides to fight a FAUX war against FOX...well, that will just verify all that half of us already knew. And if he's cool with the Nixonian air this gives his administration (and we haven't even gotten into Net Neutrality yet) then so be it. It will only unite us tighter in 2012.

Showdowns in New Jersey & Virginia

The first round of elections since the Era of 'O' began...

Obama has been to New Jersey stumping for Democratic incumbent Governor Corzine and yesterday former President Bill Clinton and former head of the DNC terry McAullife both made a stop in VA for gubernatorial hopeful, Creigh Deeds.

These are meaningful races. Especially in Jersey where they rarely elect a Republican. And Corzine is getting desperate. Corzine has used his personal millions running ads basically calling his opponent, Chris Christie, fat since nothing else worked. The tactic seems to have afforded him a statistical tie.

In Virginia (a formerly red state that has been trending blue as of late) the race is not so tight --hence the big guns for the Democrat yesterday. Republican Robert F. McDonnell has maintained a lead in the polls (53 to 44) and Democrat Deeds can't seem to rally the DNC base.

So, is this a referendum on policy decisions over the past 8 months (Cap & Tax, Health Care and defense cuts) or a direct rebuff of the President...or just fallout from a bad economy?

What I do know...all of you in Jersey and Virginia better get out to the polls on the 3rd!

And as for us Pennsylvanians...let's keep Pat Toomey in the lead!!!!

Underfunding Our Troops...for a Library?

This is really, really bad:

"...Senators diverted $2.6 billion in funds in a defense spending bill to pet projects largely at the expense of accounts that pay for fuel, ammunition and training for U.S. troops, including those fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to an analysis.

Among the 778 such projects, known as earmarks, packed into the bill: $25 million for a new World War II museum at the University of New Orleans and $20 million to launch an educational institute named after the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat..." (source)

But it's even worse in light of this:

"...The commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafary, Monday, Oct. 19, threatened "crushing" retaliation against the US, UK and Pakistan including the invasion of its eastern neighbor.

Iranian sources note that is the first time in Iran's 30-year Islamic revolution that a military leader has gone to the extreme lengths of threatening to strike US and British military targets, a measure of the damage the regime and Guards suffered from the suicide attack, which has since been condemned and denied by Washington.

Past Iranian reprisals were usually carried against the US or Britain indirectly in the Persian Gulf or by local Islamic surrogates like Hizballah in Iraq. Jafari's words point to a more direct showdown this time by the IRGC or its terrorist arm al Qods." (source)

I'm sure our troops will be comforted to know there's a Edward Kennedy library and a special tank to house the sperm of Midwestern buffalo as they are faced with the possibility of a confrontation with yet another Islamic country!

My biggest pet peeve...poor or no customer service. I can't help but think (hope) that maybe companies are using the economy as an excuse to trim the fat amongst their employees. Fire all the people that roll their eyes, click their tongues and get annoyed that they have to end vapid conversations to wait on you and yours...

So when I come across really good customer service (a rare dinosaur in these times of great entitlement), I feel I must comment.

The company: Grow-A-Frog

This is a great company. For very little money your kids (parents or teachers) can watch tadpoles turn into little froglets. Twice the staff has come to our rescue. We ran out of food with our first tadpole and though they rushed out food to us he died (RIP Burble) -and they promptly sent a new tadpole (Deja Vu) for free even though it was our fault. Now, Deja Vu's metamorphosis went really quickly and we were caught without "froglet food" (and I didn't happen to have any beef hearts lying around) and they rushed the food, a froglet friend and the new habitat before they even took the money from my bank account --AND remembered my son's name and addressed the shipment to him even though his name hadn't been anywhere on the order! He LOVED that!

Deja Vu and his new friend Tad are happy in their new home. The kids have all enjoyed watching all the changes. This was a GREAT purchase from a WORTHY company that stands pleasantly by its product!

Order a kit today...your kids will LOVE it!

...That is an actual pic of one of our guys...they are not amphibious and remain in the water their entire lives...

(This is an unpaid, unsolicited endorsement as thanks for GREAT SERVICE and GREAT PRODUCT.)

Guest Post by Free0352

Over at J. Marquis' "Major Conflict" I have just learned that the the organization Americans for Prosperity really drives liberals crazy. They seem to hate this outfit more than anything I've ever seen. Jim even linked a screed from Rachel Maddow about the supposed evils of this PAC. I've been giving them money for a few years now because they are much more responsible with it than the GOP and get better results. Therefore, I would like to ask you all to donate $25.00 to Americans for Prosperity. Now I know we're all conservatives and giving money away makes us deeply uncomfortable and we all hate lobbyists here but look, you get something you can't put a price on for your donation. You get to really piss off liberals. Nothing is more satisfying than angering liberals and this without a doubt will make them sputter with indignation... and it might help to stop socialized medicine. I've never asked you for anything; except care packages, sexual favors, pornography, cash, an Austin Martin, military equipment and livestock... I don't think 25.00 bucks is too much to ask.

Donation evil lobbyists? 25 dollars.
Pissing off Jim Marquis? Priceless ;)

(I Hate) PC America

Target caved (to whom I'm not sure....a few wackos on the website, La Raza?)) and took this off their website...

Why does everything have to be this:

"The costume is a sick sign of the times we are living in in this country where those who are not 'people like us' might as well be from another planet and are considered less than human. I am surprised Target would promote such a mentality," one customer wrote on the website."

Why can't it just be a clever (and funny) spoof on current events?

Suspended for the Flag?

And without pay.

Firefighters were told to keep the OUTSIDE of their lockers bare. This directive came about after a childish back and forth brought on by a cartoon posted by a Black fireman that some perceived as racist. The fireman was asked to take it down by the Commissioner (also Black if that matters) and in turn posted a sign that said "Black man has no free speech." When he wouldn't remove that by the fire Commissioner's request he was suspended until he took it down. (source)

I understand that a directive is a directive, but since a firefighter is being asked to remove THE AMERICAN FLAG because of an inmature event in which he had no involvement... well, it seems wrong. Having a cartoon or a sign/bumper sticker that has a certain message or point of view is one thing...but a flag? Would that offend anyone? Wouldn't that be an obvious exception? The directive could easily say -no alterations other than the American flag of station logo may adorn the outside of a locker...

James Krapf, an 11 year veteran of the department, is on his 2nd day of unpaid suspension.

Republicans Introduce Bad Legislation Too...

In case there was any Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan. He has introduced a bill giving some people bigger deductions for their dogs than many get for their kids: up to $3,500 per year.

"...A bill called the HAPPY Act — the acronym stands for Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years — has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Its sponsor is Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., although the idea originated with actor Robert Davi, a noted screen heel — he played Franz Sanchez in the James Bond film “License to Kill” — and devoted pet owner.

The measure would authorize a $3,500 per person — not per pet — annual tax credit for pet care expenses..." (source)

Now, before anyone compares getting a child tax credit to this confangled proposal...a child will one day be paying your SSI (if it hasn't gone extinct)--a dog can't give back to society, a child can.

People that are concerned about the plight of dogs (and cats) in this economy...please, make a donation to The Humane Society or The North Shore Animal League.

Dear Republican Congresspeople...we are striving for LESS legislation. Thank you.

The Upside of Limbaugh Getting Sidelined

First and foremost he won't be distracted and off his game when Conservatives need him most...that's the selfish upside to Limbaugh losing his chance at acquiring part ownership of the St. Louis Rams.

But if this wouldn't have happened... if Media Matters wouldn't have employed lazy, Lefty slackers that published things without fact-checking them and the MSM Drive-by media wouldn't have so gleefully reported the Soros-funded fabrications...Rush wouldn't have felt the need to finally retaliate and unleash lots of juicy info of which I was previously unaware.

Such as...CNN's Rick Sanchez was quick to report the story and then wouldn't issue an apology. Now we know that Rick Sanchez killed someone drunk driving, fled the scene and was still drunk 2 hours later.

But this is even better. Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee used the HOUSE FLOOR to rail against Rush, and now we know this:

"It seems that Sheila Jackson Lee was present at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory when the Mars Pathfinder landed in the mid 1990s. Sheila Jackson Lee inquired whether the rover would be able to roll over to where astronauts had planted the American flag.

The problem is that astronauts have yet to visit Mars at all, not to mention plant any flags on its surface. Sheila Jackson Lee, who represents a district in Houston and sits on committees that deal with NASA, did not know that astronauts had in fact planted flags on the Moon."

And then there's Jesse Jackson who used his falsified proximity to MLK when he was shot to propel himself into notoriety. And, as far as I know, Rush doesn't have any illegitimate children REVEREND Jackson.

And we don't even need to remind anyone of Tawana Brawley and her excrement....everyone already knows Sharpton is a buffoon.

Here's the thing...Media Matters is the offspring of the Center for American Progress and there are many former Center for American Progress members currently sitting in Obama's administration. Biggest donor? George Soros. Things that make you go hmmm....

I hope Limbaugh actually goes through with the libel suit. I'm sick if Conservatives just accepting they will be slandered.

And Rush can't be an NFL owner due to "image issues" but "I need hypnotherapy to stave off my drug cravings" Fergie can?

Grief for Hire?

Have you seen the new ads/PSAs about lung cancer and asbestos done by Dana Reeve's sister? And if so am I the only one that feels a bit uncomfortable every time it comes on? Or should I said every time it ends with Dr. Deborah Morosini passionately asking viewers if they can believe the use of asbestos is still legal...and then the voice over alerting us that she has been paid for her appearance.

I'm wondering if my sis had never smoked and then died from lung cancer, if I would need to be paid to warn people of the evils of asbestos...

I don't know, am I being overly judgmental...? I really do get annoyed each time I hear it belittles it for me.

...I was offered $100 to put the Mesothelioma and Veterans link in the sidebar, but how could I take money to alert veterans there was help out there for them? And I'm pretty sure I could use the cash a lot more than the good doctor. ...oh well, maybe Baron & Bud are ambulance chasers out there in Dallas and she figured they shouldn't reap the benefits of her sister's name?

Perhaps I Spoke Too Soon...

On numerous occasions I have claimed that I am not a conspiracy theorist, but things have been popping up...

2012 Meet & Greet: Fmr NM Gov. Gary E. Johnson

Continuing our exploration into the possibilities for 2012. The candidate must be top-notch. Good looking. A strong orator. Smart. Funny. Truly Conservative (preferably with Libertarian leanings). And did I say good looking? It's important.

We'll look at their personal lives, at their voting records, at their soundbites, at what the Left thinks of them and then we'll discuss their strengths and weaknesses...

This is the one people... NOT the one I'm picking (it's WAY too early for that),but the one where the Conservatives, the Republicans and the Libertarians will have to duke it out. A VERY Libertarian-leaning Conservative (from all that I can tell): Fmr NM Gov. Gary E. Johnson

He put himself through college going door to door as a handyman and then parlayed that success into a company that he built into a multi-million dollar cooperation. A hard-working, self-made man...gotta love that.

Johnson's "Seven principles of Government" (keeps this in his wallet at all times):

1. Become reality driven. Don’t kid yourself or others. Find out what’s what and base your decisions and actions on that.

2. Always be honest and tell the truth. It’s extremely difficult to do any damage to anybody when you are willing to tell the truth–regardless of the consequences.

3. Always do what’s right and fair. Remember, the more you actually accomplish, the louder your critics become. You’ve got to learn to ignore your critics. You’ve got to continue to do what you think is right. You’ve got to maintain your integrity.

4. Determine your goal, develop a plan to reach that goal, and then act. Don’t procrastinate.

5. Make sure everybody who ought to know what you’re doing knows what you’re doing. Communicate.

6. Don’t hesitate to deliver bad news. There is always time to salvage things. There is always time to fix things. Henry Kissinger said that anything that can be revealed eventually should be revealed immediately.

7. Last, be willing to do whatever it takes to get your job done. If you’ve got a job that you don’t love enough to do what it takes to get your job done, then quit and get one that you do love, and then make a difference.

Here's the thing, some of you will certainly take issue with the fact that he is pro-drug legalization. And not just the skunky stuff...everything. He is also pro-school voucher and pro-states' rights and pro-limited government.

I am liking the fact that though every politician claims to be able to stand their own ground and claims they're "not a Washington insider"--Johnson actually sticks to his beliefs whether is politically expedient or not.

I can't find ANYTHING about his views on abortion or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (the reason we need to dig up his position on military issues is that Ron Paul people like him and that makes me a bit nervous...)

Here is what we have so far On the Issues.

As always, I only know what I am able to dig up in articles/voting records/interviews. We need to hear from people in his state and people with first hand knowledge of him as a person...

I have to say, he's the first one to actually pique my interest.

(Past Meet & Greets: Bobby Jindal and Mike Pence)

The Spending is a Sickness

"... House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the House health care overhaul bill now being finalized would allow young adults to stay on their parents' health insurance policies until they're 27.

Most insurance plans let kids remain on their parents' policies while they're in college.

Pelosi says the provision in the House bill would help those who are out of school, looking for work or are part-time employees..." (source)

27?! How about...get a freakin' job! I had a job that gave me health benefits two weeks after I graduated high school. By 27 I was married with a degree and a kid. Democrats really need to take a moment to reflect why they would want to facilitate such blatant non-productiveness?

27. Ugh.

Big Bird Blasts the First Lady

I have been looking for this video online since it aired on Conan's show... Each time I found it, the link was broken or a "forbidden" message came up. Now, I'm not alluding to a conspiracy or anything, but...well, we'll see if this link remains intact...

Redistribute that 1.4 Mil!

"...President Barack Obama will donate the $1.4 million cash award that comes with the Nobel Peace Prize to charity. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says it's likely that more than one charity will share the windfall.

Gibbs said the president has yet to decide which charities will benefit from the award, announced early Friday morning..."

How ambiguous, huh? I have set a Blackberry reminder for a month from now to look up where this money goes. Since he's so quick to spend my cash, I want to know what he's doing with his. Maybe he can give it to ACORN so they can pass it along to that nice young couple looking to buy a house for their burgeoning business...

Remember this (and from HuffPo even):

"...From 2000 through 2004, the senator and his wife never gave more than $3,500 a year in charitable donations -- about 1 percent of their annual earnings. In 2005, however, that total jumped to $77,315 (4.7 percent of annual earnings), and to $60,307 in 2006 (6.1 percent). (source)

Isn't it 10% tithe to the church alone...? Not so altruistic progressive with his own cash is he?

Father of HipHop Warns: Listen to Obama or Face Destruction

First, can I just say that anyone that could marry and procreate with the incredibly vapid Kimora Lee Simmons automatically loses credibility...great entrepreneur or not.

Russell Simmons has an article over at HuffPo and YOU HAVE TO READ THE WHOLE THING...PLEASE. It's WAY too good to miss. It's actually so ridiculous that if I wrote it as a spoof you would have said I went too far...

Here's a small snippet of a record mogul losing his mind in print...really, there were too many quotes I could have used...this article was a gift that could have kept on giving:

The Indictment of America:

"...America, our country is under indictment. And we will be found guilty if we don't act. If we allow these nasty, malicious people, who harbor so much hate with views that separate us from the rest of world, to continue to tell us how to think, we will be found guilty of charge one. If we allow so-called "men of faith," who don't practice a word Jesus Christ preached, to bully us and scare us, we will be found guilty of charge two. If we allow leaders of our country who claim that they represent us, when they really represent big business and corporate greed, to create policy in our name, we will be found guilty of charge three. If we allow leaders of a political party that only know one word, and that is "no," to work against the best interests of our country, we will not only be found guilty of charge four, we will be sentenced by God to self-destruction. (source)

The destruction of America lies in the hands of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh? Listen to Barack or else? Criticism of the undeserved Nobel Peace prize will cause God to smite us down?

Does this catapult him to the top of the Celebrikooky list?

DNC Fantasy Flag

...available on ebay for the low, low price of $4.99. (source)

United States of America Flag Code: "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature." (source)

This is not the first time Obama's name and/or image has been used to break the flag code:

And, OMG, you will not believe this Obama doll...sorry, action figure. Okay, so I kinda want it.

Don't Ask...Don't Tell...Why?

To me, a civilian, this policy is akin to my one year old covering his eyes to hide from me.

Regardless of whether you never ask and never tell, gays ARE in the military. So what's the difference if you asked or told?

"...President Barack Obama says he knows gay rights activists get impatient but he says this country has made progress and will make more in defending those rights.

He says he is committed to their goals and he will achieve them

On the eve of a major gay-rights rally, Obama addressed thousands of gays and lesbians at a fundraising dinner Saturday night for the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay-rights group.

Since Obama took office in January, some advocates have complained Obama has not followed through on promises to push top gay rights issues. They are looking for firm commitments on such issues as ending the ban on gays serving openly in the military and pushing tough nondiscrimination policies..." (source)

What is the heart of the opposition here...? Whether you think GAY is a choice or not isn't the issue. Whether you think GAY is right or wrong ISN'T the issue. The issue is we have a government policy that prohibits someone from SAYING something. Crazy when you think of it that way, huh?

I say ANYONE that is willing to put their life on the line for this country should not be stripped of any right that the person next to them has...

...that's just the opinion of this straight civilian that respects the hell out of ANYONE willing to don the uniform and walk the line for me and mine.

Lindsey Graham Caves on Cap -n-Tax?

"...Prospects for climate-change legislation in Congress improved on Sunday when a Republican senator broke ranks with his party to outline a compromise with a leading Democrat on the issue.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic Senator John Kerry wrote in an opinion piece in The New York Times that they believed they could pick up enough support to pass a wide-ranging bill to limit carbon emissions.

"We refuse to accept the argument that the United States cannot lead the world in addressing global climate change," Graham and Kerry wrote. "We are also convinced that we have found both a framework for climate legislation to pass Congress and the blueprint for a clean-energy future."

Graham is one of a few dozen fence-sitters whom Kerry and Democrat Barbara Boxer have been courting in order to amass the 60 votes needed for passage in the 100-member Senate..."source)

As far as I can see, there is nothing in his voting record that would have indicated he would break ranks and go over to the dark side on this proposed Cap & Trade bill.

Did Graham happen to catch the news during any of the tea party coverage? Tons of the signs reflected the views of HIS CONSTITUENTS when it comes to Cap and Tax... Why are the Republicans in Congress so incredibly CLUELESS?!

And The Winner is: Obama...?

It seems that President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Well, I assume he won it for closing GITMO. Oh yeah, GITMO is still open.

Withdrawing the troops from Iraq? No, we're still there.

Winning Afghanistan, the "war of necessity", and capturing Bin Laden? No and no.

Peace between Israel and Palestine? Nope.

Iran and North Korea halted all nuclear proliferation? Uh,no.

So...for just not being George W. Bush?

Ding,ding ding! Yes!

Meanwhile Philly is Closing Fire Stations and Libraries...

"...In a locally unprecedented move, the School District of Philadelphia will hold principals accountable for the number of students eating breakfast in their schools.

Breakfast participation will be part of the report card that rates principals each year, along with categories such as attendance and math and reading performance.

All 165,000 students in Philadelphia public schools, regardless of income, are eligible for free breakfasts. But just 54,000 ate breakfast last year, district figures show..."

But wait,it gets better...

"...Just how food will be served in Philadelphia schools is up to principals. Studies show, however, that more children eat when breakfast is served in the first class of the day.

Last year, the vast majority of the district's 267 schools served food in their cafeterias before the school day began, Grasela said. Just 47 served them in classrooms, he said.

Typically, principals have resisted such service, saying it detracted from instructional time. But in the spring, the Pennsylvania Department of Education ruled that if students throughout the state eat breakfast in their first class with a teacher present, it will be counted as instructional time..." (source)

Here's the thing, just as "many Philadelphia children live in high-poverty areas" -there are many well-to-do areas of Philadelphia as well...and now tax payers will be responsible to feed the Birkenstocked co-op kids of Chestnut Hill and Manayunk? And in a time where services are being slashed everywhere? I have heard said it's so the poor kids don't feel embarrassed. Well, how about when they have no home or clothes because their house burned down because the fire station in their neighborhood was closed...will that be less ore more embarrassing?

I'm not blaming the kids here. I don't want any kid to go hungry, but the one that gets driven to school in a 9 series Mercedes should be eating at home! ...I'm just constantly dumbfounded at decisions our elected officials make...

You might also be interested to know that I believe this is FEDERAL money.

Can I Give You Homework?

I know it would be a first, but there's something I would rather discuss than just post about...

Synopsis: Academy Award nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick (This Film Is Not Yet Rated) delivers a searing indictment of the hypocrisy of closeted politicians who actively campaign against the LGBT community they covertly belong to. OUTRAGE boldly reveals the hidden lives of some of our nation’s most powerful policymakers, details the harm they've inflicted on millions of Americans, and examines the media's complicity in keeping their secrets.

I want you all to watch's "On Demand" on HBO for those that have Comcast. Have you ever finished watching something and just needed to talk to someone about it, but no one had seen it? That's how I've been for the past few days...There's too much content to have to explain all the things I feel need to be addressed. Some aspects made me more sympathetic to the Gay community (not that I have ever been hostile toward them...I guess I just haven't thought much of them either way), but I also have to take issue with quite a few things (some hypocrisy of their own). I may write a letter to Michael Rogers of to address some of the things that are really bothering me...

I'd love for you guys to watch it though so you can help me flesh out my thoughts before I write the letter...especially the more Libertarian-minded among you...

2012 Meet & Greet: Governor Piyush "Bobby" Jindal (R)

Continuing our exploration into the possibilities for 2012. The candidate must be top-notch. Good looking. A strong orator. Smart. Funny. Truly Conservative (preferably with Libertarian leanings). And did I say good looking? It's important.

We'll look at their personal lives, at their voting records, at their soundbites, at what the Left thinks of them and then we'll discuss their strengths and weaknesses...

Next to Huck & Pawlenty, he's the most talked about possibility for the 2012 GOP primary: Louisiana Governor Piyush "Bobby" Jindal (who, as a point of interest, is only a month older than me...)

I have to be honest, I didn't know much about him other than hearing him name in lists of 2012 possibilities. Given that my knowledge of him is purely from online reading...this next statement might not be fair, but I'm not too jazzed with the idea of him. Let's get the shallow stuff out of the way. He's a little uncomfortable to look at. And, at 5'9, he's too short to be President IMO. (Yes, McCain was short...but the fighter pilot, POW thing made up for it...Not to mention the lack of viable candidates...I digress...)

On the Issues:

He has a 100% pro-Life rating.
He supported DOMA (That's a minus for me)
"Hard on Drugs" stance (is also a minus for me)
"Voted YES on increasing AMTRAK funding by adding $214M to $900M."
Wants to restrict funding to the UN (finally a plus)
"Voted YES on increasing fines for indecent broadcasting."

View Jindal's entire voting record here.

He definitely doesn't have the "Libertarian leanings" I'm looking for in a candidate. In fact, quite the opposite. He seems to want to legislate everything.

After doing the research for this post I'm 99.9% sure he's not my guy. I don't want a candidate that isn't the best person for the job just so we can say we have the "first."

The again, maybe you know something I don't that will entice me to take a second look...?

(In case you missed it: Mike Pence)

Birth Certificate & Voter's Registration At Birth?

Bertha Lewis, the Chief Executive of ACORN, employed an age-old political tactic at a news conference the other day. When someone wants to shut down talks and deflect further questioning they cry "RACIST!" (we've discussed this at length) or "McCarthyism!" (not seeming to realize that McCarthy is a bit of a cult hero on the right).

Ms. Lewis partook in the later...decrying the "witch hunt" around ACORN "McCarthyism." Never mind the embezzled $1-5 million (they're not quite sure) by the founder's brother...and the employers offering ways to circumvent paying taxes on "performance art" (aka underage prostitution by illegal aliens)...

But, in the midst of making ACORN the victim, she sis say something that piqued my interest:

"...Voter registration, for instance. We believe that the government should have universal automatic registration. ACORN or any other third-party group shouldn’t have to do voter registration for Americans to participate in their own government. But they don’t have that yet, and until they do, ’til the government stands up and does its job, we will make sure that our people, poor people, do get registered and do participate in the electoral process. But we believe that we shouldn’t even be in this business, and no one should; the government should do it..." (source)

What do you think? Pros? Cons? Does it benefit either party to require physical (as opposed to automatic) voter registration?
