The Justification of a Child Rapist: Et Tu, HuffPo?!

Obviously I expected the lemmings in Hollywood to jump right on the "free Polanski" bandwagon...but they have a collective IQ of 100... What I didn't foresee were politico's making the case to absolve a child rapist...

HuffPo has not one, not two, but THREE "poor Polanski" pieces:

Artist Rally behind Polanski: "...Apprehended like a common terrorist Saturday evening, September 26, as he came to receive a prize for his entire body of work, Roman Polanski now sleeps in prison. Polanski risks spending the rest of his life in jail for deeds which would be beyond the statute-of-limitations in Europe..."

Roman Polanski Understands Women:(This is written by a WOMAN) "...I'm not going to go into my Roman Polanski defense. I've been doing this all morning, nearly ranting and raving over my views on the matter, and have grown frustrated and depressed. But in short, I'm not happy about his arrest..."

Leniency for Polanski: "...Confronting these developments, we must affirm the law's the law, right? And what Polanski reputedly did with a 13-year-old girl all those years ago was unquestionably the act of a sick individual.

But the story of what Polanski suffered even before the unspeakable trauma of having his pregnant wife Sharon Tate butchered in the spooky twilight of the turbulent sixties makes me believe that overall, he's as much victim as predator himself..."

Then there's the "feminist" Whoopi Goldberg who declared, "I know it wasn't rape-rape. I think it was something else, but I don't believe it was rape-rape." (source) Way to support the sisterhood Whoopi... I didn't realize drugging someone and them sodomizing them wasn't "rape rape."

One lone writer in the MSM seems to have a clue. Okay, maybe a few of them (this one poignantly asks,"imagine if Polanskui were an abusive priest and there was a petition to absolve him circulating...').

At least reading these sick apology pieces clued me into the "reasons" (lame as they are) for the swell of sympathy for the child sodomizer... His wife, Sharon Tate's, Brutal death prior to this incident and the fact that the victim wants this behind her. So we should absolve pedophiles that were once victims themselves? And Polanski's victim, Samantha Geimer, isn't a fan of the man...she wants the case to go away because of how people treat her family when it surfaces in the news...

2012 Meet and Greet: US Representative Mike Pence (R)

We should be exploring the possibilities for 2012. The candidate must be top-notch. Good looking. A strong orator. Smart. Funny. Truly Conservative (preferably with Libertarian leanings). And did I say good looking? It's important.

We'll look at their personal lives, at their voting records, at their soundbites, at what the Left thinks of them and then we'll discuss their strengths and weaknesses...

Let's start with US Representative Mike Pence (R):

What first caught my eye (other than as far as politicians go, he's a nice looking guy) was he has been called a "constant bee in the bonnet" of Nancy Pelosi. The second thing that struck me was the fact he's been re-elected 6 times in an area that has a history of being much friendlier to Democratic candidates.

He's the Chairman of the House Republican Conference (caucus), a lawyer and most likely a good orator as he started out as a radio talk show host...

On the Issues:

He has a wonderful 0% rating from NARAL.
A 7% rating from the ACLU.
17% from the NEA (teacher's union).
SANE gives him a 0%

You can see his entire voting record here.

"...[Mike Pence] sounded a note of optimism as he insisted that conservatism is at the "beginning of a comeback" and that we are collectively "on the brink of a great American awakening."

When he referred to an awakening, Pence seemed to include a spiritual element in his prediction of resurgence. Conservative agenda items like the free market, protecting nascent life, and the preservation of traditional marriage are clearly tied to his view of rights and duties invested in human beings by their creator.

In this regard, Pence struck me very much as a disciple of the late Jack Kemp. It is a kinship he claimed at various points in his speech. Certainly, he appeared, like Kemp to be a champion of what might be called the synthesis of Judeo-Christian and classical civilization over against the utilitarian social engineering of materialistic modernism..." Mandatory Vaccines are A-OK

I know, I know...the government forcing children to have vaccines or they'll boot them out of school should offend my Libertarian sensibilities...but it doesn't.

The Freepers are upset over it, but I can't help but think it's a good thing. I know their concern is probably that the vaccine is too new (my concern with the HPV vaccine, GARDASIL), but NJ is experiencing a "regional outbreak" (17 people have already died from H1N1, 3 of them children) and, quite frankly, it's too damn close to me for people to be playing around.

The Man is currently working in NJ and his job site is teaming with illegals...and that "situation" has been giving me agida thinking about the upcoming flu season. But maybe the mandatory vaccines will even the playing field. (And no, I'm not normally a germ-a-phobe...but I have an asthmatic and a baby...)

So I say, vaccinate those Jerseyites...and quick!

Oklahoma City Bombing Still Making Headlines

Speaking of conspiracy theories...This new information almost makes me wonder...

" Long-secret security tapes showing the chaos immediately after the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building are blank in the minutes before the blast and appear to have been edited, an attorney who obtained the recordings said Sunday.

...The tapes turned over by the FBI came from security cameras various companies had mounted outside office buildings near the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. They are blank at points before 9:02 a.m., when a truck bomb carrying a 4,000 pound fertilizer-and-fuel-oil bomb detonated in front of the building, Trentadue said.

"Four cameras in four different locations going blank at basically the same time on the morning of April 19, 1995. There ain't no such thing as a coincidence," Trentadue said.

He said government officials claim the security cameras did not record the minutes before the bombing because "they had run out of tape" or "the tape was being replaced."

"The interesting thing is they spring back on after 9:02," he said. "The absence of footage from these crucial time intervals is evidence that there is something there that the FBI doesn't want anybody to see." (source)

Do the conspiracy theorists hold their tongues because Clinton was President? I know there are alternative theories about what went down prior to that bombing, but no one has blamed "the government"or the President --they way they did Bush after 9/11...In fact, I think the Left relishes in the fact that McVeigh was a white guy and a veteran...

Top Five "Proofs" That We Landed On The Moon

As I have said many times in the past, I am not a conspiracy theory indulger. In fact, to the contrary, I get impatient and testy when forced to listen to someone who does indulge.

That being said, if pressed to pick one conspiracy theory that I sometimes ponder for more than a few seconds it would be the moon landing. I never questioned it until I went to the Smithsonian in my early 20's and saw the heap of tin foil and Saran wrap they claim made the flight...

Last night I cam across this list on

Top 5: Proofs That The Moon Landing Happened:

5) The Soviet Union never disputed it.
4) The number of photographs (none showing anything terrestrial)
3) Rock Samples Are Universally Acknowledged As Being Non-Terrestrial (no peer review has ever contradicted that they are from the moon)
2) No one within the program ever disputed it
1) It Happened Again…And Again…And Again

And that was good enough for me.

Who is Mabus?

Recently, so many people (independent of one another) have mentioned the coming of the Anti-Christ and what they seem to feel is the very real possibility it could be our President... I don't know much about the subject, so I thought I'd do a bit of reading.

The Anti-Christ, aka Mabus according to Nostradamus, will be the 3rd of his ilk. The first two were believed to be Napoleon and Hitler. Here is an interpretation of the person Nostradamus believed will be the final and worst Anti-Christ:

  • Will be North African or Middle Eastern and use "desperate acts to achieve his goals"

  • He will be one of the first to fall in the coming war.

  • It will only appear that his death ends hostilities. Decades of vengeance attacks by means of terrorism will follow.

  • He could be a known leader of an organization or state that is overwhelmed and destroyed by an overpowering counterattack.

  • Unlike the first two Antichrists, Mabus could be a minor political figure — even the terrorist bomber himself — who, in detonating his weapon, vaporizes himself and triggers 27-years of warfare as a repercussion of his one violent act. For example, if peace cannot be found, the mystery bomber who detonated his lethal explosion in the cue of a Tel Aviv beach side disco on 1 June 2001, may yet be remembered as the one who was soon annihilated by his own explosion, yet triggered the next great slaughter of people and animals in the Middle East. (source)

  • I'm not saying I put any credence in the Obama as the Anti-Christ theory, but...I guess it is a little weird that Obama actually appointed someone named Ray Mabus as Secretary of the Navy...AND, I could definitely see the assassination of Obama starting first riots and then a war (the prophecy says Mabus' death is what starts WWIII)... says the claim that Obama is the Anti-Christ is false. I don't know why I found this exceedingly amusing...

    But, someone on YouTube claims that Obama told America to "Serve Satan" during his speech when he accepted the Democratic nomination...

    Now, what I found most interesting in my reading (which was just for fun during these depressing days) was that the prophecies all say this person will be, I can see why people played with the idea of Saddam Hussein or Usama Bin Laden...but why Tony Blair, Hillary Clinton and George Bush?

    If I return to seriousness, though I don't think Obama is actually the anti-Christ, I do believe his policies could do as much harm to the infrastructure of our democracy as 9/11 did to NYC...and THAT is what scares me.

    Will Polanski Be the New Cause Celeb?

    Mumia should be worried...his cause celeb status might just be in jeopardy now that Switzerland has taken pedophile and rapist Roman Polanski into custody for extradition to the United States.

    "...Police in Switzerland took Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski into custody on statutory rape charges that the director has been avoiding for more than thirty years. Polanski, now 76, pleaded guilty to unlawful sex with a 13-year-old in 1977 in the United States, but fled the country before he could be sentenced and a warrant for his arrest was issued in 1978. He had been living in France ever since..." (source)

    Maybe Will Farrell and the gang can make a commercial supporting him...he is a great director after all and it seems here in this country many excuse pedophilia if the said pedophile happens to be gifted in the arts... Let's see how long it takes the usual suspects to come out in support of the admitted perv. The girl was THIRTEEN and he raped and sodomized her... (You can read her testimony here) ...and I'm overjoyed that he might finally get what's coming to him --and not an Oscar this time.

    Pyongyang Elementary?

    "A YouTube video shows nearly 20 young children being led in a song overflowing with campaign slogans and praise for "Barack Hussein Obama," repeatedly chanting the president's name and celebrating his accomplishments, including his "great plans" to "make this country's economy No. 1 again."

    The video has set off families in Burlington, N.J., who say that politics shouldn't be forced on young students." (source)

    Ya know,it's bad enough the government itself is encouraging the canonization of Obama...but for teachers to impose their cultish zeal on kindergartners is beyond the pale.

    And how insulting that it's song with the tune and lyrics from "Jesus loves me"--but could they sing the words "JESUS loves me?" And, will they be admonished for using "the middle name"...or was that only fear mongering BEFORE the election?

    "He said red, yellow, black or white/All are equal in his sight. Barack Hussein Obama."

    ...And maybe even worse to the Battle Republic hymn...

    And in case anyone would levy the label of can read firsthand how I deal with the school contradicting my ideology with my offspring...teach MATH and SCIENCE and leave the indoctrination at the door please.

    Thank God this wasn't my head would have actually exploded. And from what my kids tell me, they haven't been show "The Story of Stuff" either...

    (So, I did some of the soul searching that I asked our President to do. I was wondering if there had been Black presidents since the country began and there was finally a half-White one if it could entice me to sing the President's name? Or if next election a short blonde with my ideology was elected...would I chant her name? I'm happy to report that the answer to both is "no." BUT, that being said...I will be very excited when a woman -of either party- is in the Oval Office. And though I will be more defensive of her than I would be of a man...I will still reserve the same level of distrust for her that I have for all politicians at that level.)

    Misinformation Lies from the Left

    This ad is so full of fallacies (and they called Sarah Palin a liar)-- it claims 80% of Americans want a public option. Even the NYT and HuffPo have articles claiming the support for the President's plan is slim and waning....

    FORTY-FIVE PERCENT approve -and 46% disapprove according to a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. That's a pretty far cry from 80%.

    And this asinine claim that a government-run health care company will create competition?! HELLO!? Insurance companies have to turn a profit...the government doesn't have to make a profit. They can take our taxes when they need money.

    That means they can make prices whatever they please --a flu shot? oh, that'll be 15¢ because we'll just take the money from The Man who has been slinging 600 lb. boilers for the past 20 years.He doesn't need his own need it more because it's somehow HIS fault that you decided to have three kids from two different men without ever being married to either of them. So here's your 15¢ flu shot...

    When one entity doesn't need to adhere to market value because they are in the unique position of not having to make the hell does that create competition?! ARGGGH!

    Free Speech Poll

    Does the First Amendment Protect Lies?
  free polls

    Why do I ask? This is how Harry Reid is defending the gag order that has been placed on Humana (Medicare Advantage provider). He says it was to prevent "misinformation" and that the first amendment doesn't protect lies. I highly doubt the literature is lies, but even if it that protected? Is the commercial linked above (that actually does have outright lies) protected?

    Should You Judge A Man By His Fans?

  • Barack Obama's call for action on climate change and his admission that rich nations have a particular responsibility to lead has received strong praise from an unusual source — U.S. nemesis Fidel Castro.

    The former Cuban leader on Wednesday called the American president's speech at the United Nations "brave" and said no other American head of state would have had the courage to make similar remarks..."(source)

  • "We are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as the president of the United States," said [Moammar] Kadafi, Libya's leader since a military coup in 1969."(source)

  • "The last time he was here, Hugo Chavez called then U.S. President George W. Bush "the devil," but on Wednesday Venezuela's leader offered slightly more-positive sentiments for Barack Obama.

    "The arrival of President Obama, who can deny it, generates, has generated and will continue to generate big expectations," Chavez told a meeting of U.S. union leaders at the Venezuelan mission to the U.N..."(source)

  • I'm curious how the Left would find a way to argue that George W. Bush wasn't in a better position with depots like this despising him... I mean, honestly, does it keep Obama awake at night that these men are among his biggest fans? If I had some whacked out fan club, I'd have to question what beliefs I shared with said wackos... Does he soul search about this? Can I submit that question to

    The "CHANGE" the Left Really Wanted...Personified.

    Hugo Chavez.

    I know he is their secret idol. Their Jonas Brother if you will.

    We worried briefly that the O! administration would try to use a speech to school children to offer them insights into his far-left ideology.He didn't. (In fact, I found it quite refreshing to hear him talk to the kids about "personal responsibility" -I didn't think those words were aloud to be joined together if you were a Democrat!)

    But Hugo doesn't have the political confines that Obama has. He can run free...and he is. He has ordered that ALL schools in Venezuela teach the joys of socialism and subsequently the perils of a free market society. And to prove that point, even private schools are subject to this curriculum decree.

    "...All schools, public and private, must admit state inspectors and submit to the government's new educational system, or be closed and nationalized, with the state taking responsibility for the education of their children, Chavez said...adding that education based on capitalist ideology had destroyed "the values of children." (source)

    I don't know how many of you saw Tucker Carlson's special report about the text books here in America...but it seems this is where we're heading. You can say founding FATHERS?!

    Barack & Michelle

    "After a microscopic look at several famous marriages, author Christopher Andersen takes his pen -- or, some argue, a hatchet -- to the Obamas in his latest book, "Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage."

    He describes a reluctant groom-to-be, a sometimes-stormy union, and a woman sick of emptying his overflowing ashtrays -- and being shut out by his ambition. He says the Obamas survived the crucibles of battling infertility, helping nurse daughter Sasha to health after meningitis and coping with early political defeat (and debt). By the inauguration they were "indisputably the First Couple not only of America but of the world."

    The book, relying in part on unnamed sources, serves up plenty of dish from the Obamas' youth, nearly 17-year marriage and up-and-down journey to the White House." (source)

    ...I have read all of Christopher Andersen's books: Jack and Jackie, Bill and Hillary, George and Laura and Princess Diana. He maintains that he will not print something unless he can triple source it and his books are impossible to put down once you start reading. I can't wait to read about how and why Michelle shot down any hope of Hillary being Obama's Veep!

    Bank of (Un)America(n)

    A young Marine that was recently wounded in Afghanistan and later died from his injuries in Germany, LCpl Christopher Fowlkes, was being honored by the residents of his hometown. Flags and yellow ribbons lined the streets in Gaffney, South Carolina in anticipation of this hero's return.

    This from a Patriot Guards forum:

    "The show of community support began on the tarmac of the airport and continued for some 35 miles of Interstate 85. Virtually every overpass had people standing and saluting and holding Old Glory. Cars pulled over. Trucks pulled over with their drivers standing on the roadway, hand over heart. And when the procession arrived in Gaffney the support for this Marine was astonishing. I don't believe anyone was at home in Gaffney. They were all lining the streets to salute their fallen hero.

    It seems everyone is Gaffney was proud to honor this fallen Marine. Everyone except Bank of America.

    The Gaffney branch manager of Bank of AMERICA personally removed all flags and stated that they "violated company policy" and that customers could be offended by the flags. She said that the BANK had a policy against the flying of ANY flag --even the AMERICAN flag. Even though they are bank of AMERICA and apparently even though they had no problem taking 45 BILLION dollars in federal bail out money.

    Bank of America has apologized and claims the manager must have "misunderstood their policy."

    "...Bank of America released a statement to FOX Carolina on Thursday calling the issue a “misunderstanding” about the policy. It reads:

    “We want to ensure the community knows how deeply proud we are of the men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our country. The bank does fly the American flag at our locations throughout the country, and flags were displayed in front of our banking center in Gaffney the evening prior to our dedicated Marine returning home.” (source)

    The Town council has closed their account and others are following suit.

    They wouldn't need to shell out the big bucks to have Jack Bauer narrate their commercials if they were actually a decent bank --it seems this insult to LCpl Fowlkes (and subsequently all Americans) is not the first major foible bank of America has made...remember this?

    The (Forgotten) United Nations

    We haven't talked much about the UN since BO came into power... But, just so you're aware, there's still nefarious happenings afoot.

    Right now they are voting on who will lead the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). An agency in which the United States provides 22% of the funding for (roughly $600 million). Though one of UNESCO's "key missions" is "promoting freedom", one of the current top candidates to run the organization (Farouk Hosni) has called "for the burning of any Israeli books found in a major Egyptian library" and as Culture Minister in Egypt, has been an integral part of a government that only plays lip service to free speech.

    "...The U.S. was a founding member of UNESCO, but the Reagan administration withdrew in 1984, citing mismanagement and accusing it of promoting an anti-Western agenda.

    The Bush administration said the agency had made important reforms since Matsuura become director-general in 1999, and President Bush in September 2002 told the U.N. the U.S. would return..." (source)

    We really should start compiling a comprehensive database on all the stories about the mismanagement of taxpayer dollars and the corrupt politicians that mismanage them...

    Overzealous...or Diligent?!

    This story is unsettling on many levels...

    "...Last fall A.J. and Lisa Demaree took a memory stick with family photos to the printing center at the Wal-Mart store in Peoria, Ariz. Some of the photos showed their three young girls, all under 5 years old, partially nude in the bathtub. The Demarees say these were innocent pictures that all families take. But a Wal-Mart employee felt otherwise and contacted the police who agreed that this was a child pornography situation.
    The Demaree's lawyer released this photo to show the pictures of the girls are innocent.

    The police report read, "The young girl appeared to be posed in a provocative manner." A report issued by Peoria authorities described the photos as "child erotica" and "sex exploitation."

    Child Protective Services searched the Demaree home and took custody of the children for a month while the state investigated. The watched family videotapes and found a few in which the children were playing unclothed. Lisa was suspended from her school job for a year, and both of their names were placed on the sex offender registry. The couple spent $75,000 on legal bills.

    The Demarees were eventually cleared of any charges and their daughters returned, but they are now suing the state and Wal-Mart for what they call unfair accusations..." source)

    I have hundreds of pics of my boys naked when they were babies...hundreds. In fact my father used to ask if I "had any clothes for those kids?" Not only are babies happiest when they're in the buff, but I didn't want my kids to have the weird body shame that growing up in an evangelical house afforded me...

    So, in theory, some pimply faced Wal-Mart employee could wreak havoc on my life --the life where I have sacrificed countless material things to be a SAH, hands-on mom and to raise my boys... And because I have pics of them in the bathtub (doesn't everyone?) they could be taken away and I could be put on a S.O. list?

    Trust me, I understand vigilance when it comes to protecting children from the dregs that wander through our society...but the difference between kiddie-porn and family pics should be pretty evident...

    How sick is this society that anyone even assumes creepiness in this adorable picture of two little sisters?!

    I HAVE Been Letting Racism Effect My Coverage of The President.

    "Sorry to say this, I don't think [Donovan McNabb] has been that good from the get-go," [Rush] Limbaugh said. "I think that what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a Black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team." (source)

    Remember this 2003 "controversy?" Well, I think we might just have a repeat of the Donovan McNabb syndrome going on here.

    Over the weekend the more I thought about the accusations of racism...the more it hit me that if it were Howard Dean or some other white dude with Obama&'s connections and Obama's spending and Obama's apologies abroad, he would be getting eviscerated in the MSM as well as the blogosphere.

    I'm quite sure signs and slogans brandished at tea parties and town hall meetings get TEMPERED because the president is half African American...

    I know I've been easier on him because he's Black ...because I'm NOT RACIST and I don't want the first Black President to be a total failure even if he is a a Marxist Lib... And, of course, I know that harsh criticism will be deemed racist...

    So there. I admit it. I have (and will probably continue) treated Barack Obama different than I would an all White President.

    Racism Rebuttal

    Last night Bill O'Reilly asked, "What do you say in reply when a thoughtful, Black man like Bill Cosby agrees with Jimmy carter and says that he thinks MOST of the opposition to Barack Obama is the result of racism?"

    I totally dig the full implication of his question...when you're white, you're immediately at a disadvantage whenever the term racist is bandied about...but I know what I would say to Mr. Cosby.

    "Honestly, Mr. Cosby, I have to respectfully disagree with you here. Not only am I personally one of the people vehemently opposing Barack Obama's policies, I know many people that have attended tea parties. I recognize that racism does still exist in our country, but to use racism as cover for all of Obama's shortcomings and the ire they inspire, belittles the sentiment and the harm it causes. As for thos protesting Obama's policies: I and many other "tea baggers" would have voted for Condoleeza, Colin Powell or J.C. Watts over John McCain. So, I'm wondering, how does that reality fit into your sweeping supposition?"

    Obama's School Speech

    My boys' school played the Obama speech yesterday. It was proceeded by a letter home that said if parents didn't want their kids to see it, they could be excused to the library. It was followed by an assignment that asked the kids to write how they could be a responsible student.

    My boys stayed for the speech. One kid left from my 3rd grader's class and none from my 5th grader's. I have a friend that works in the library, so I'm interested to hear how many kids were in there...

    My boys couldn't wait to tell me that the DVD said "LIB Copy" on the bottom. They thought that was hilarious...they didn't realize it was a LIBRARY copy. I loved that my kids would notice that! :)

    More Technical Difficulties

    ...damn you!!!!! ;)

    Is it Racist to Call Everything We Say Racist!?

    When Joe Wilson yelled out while Obama was speaking the other day, Maureen Dowd didn't hear "You're a liar!," she heard "You're a liar, BOY!"
    I didn't realize she was clairvoyant. Maureen Dowd certainly annoyed me when Bush was President, but who woulda thought she'd be worse when her man actually won (actually, come to think of it, Frank Rich might just be worse now too...)

    Maybe there are African Americans that truly believe it's a race thing-- enough years of dealing with racism will do that to a person...but I don't believe for half a second that Ms. Dowd thinks Joe Wilson's outburst was on account of racist sentiment.

    As for Jimmy Carter ? Senility maybe?

    And even if there are African Americans that are truthfully suspect of criticism of the first (half) Black President that is too harsh--they minimize that concern by saying things like this:

    "I guess we'll probably have folks putting on white hoods and uniforms again and riding through the countryside, intimidating people," [Hank Johnson] said, "That's the logical conclusion if this type of attitude isn't rebuked." (source)

    When I saw the clip of Johnson saying that (I swear) I was shocked I hadn't heard about the first mentally retarded Representative. So I went and read about him--and he's not! He was a lawyer for 25 years, so I guess he's pretty smart...and was having a bad day articulating when I saw him... (I don't bring this up being facetious, I mention it in case anyone else thought the same thing and would blame his statement on his supposed below-basic mental capacity).

    I don't know if I can stay sane if I'm called a racist for the next 3 years and 4 months... If you call me a racist, you're trying to shut me up...and in effect using a sinister tactic of shutting down speech from the opposition. And they said Rove had below-the-belt tactics...

    The AMA Weighs in on ObamaCare

    ...the ever elusive funny-forward :)

    "The American Medical Association has weighed in on the new Universal Healthcare package. The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves. The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve. The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception. Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted. Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the Pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!'

    The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it. Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing. The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter."

    The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea. The Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and the Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the assholes in Washington."

    Yes, my computer is still down for the you'll have to bear with me for a bit...well, I guess you don't HAVE to...

    I'm sure by now you've all seen the video of the undercover ACORN tape --you know, the one where the “tax specialists”; are advising the "pimp" to claim his girls are "performance artists" so he can get a house to "work" out of... Can you believe ACORN is suing FNC over that!? Like it's Fox's fault they're basically condoning underage prostitution by illegal aliens... At least this finally ousted them from 2010 census involvement.

    But worse is the "new" (well, maybe not new, but definitely ramped up) talking point that EVERY disagreement with The President is paramount to racism. The Joe Wilson exclamation is what stirred the racial pot this time. Get this, this morning Juan Williams (who I like BTW) was explaining why Black radio hosts were suspect of criticism of Obama...and he actually said that even when people disagreed with Bush "no one called him a liar" and "no one challenged the legitimacy of his Presidency" !!!!!! Is that the most laughable thing you've read today!? Hold on before you answer because he also said no one would have objected to him speaking to schools like Obama just did.

    How soon they forget.

    I believe Joe Wilson was frustrated by the fact that Obama keeps denying that illegals will get coverage when anyone that's read the bill knows that's a lie. That frustration being fully acknowledged, he shouldn't have done that. We would have freaked had someone disrespected Bush like that.

    And as for illegals...the form just came home to apply for free breakfasts and lunches in school if your family is indigent...just as I was about to toss it, my eyes caught the words "not a US citizen." The FAQ was "May I apply if someone in my house is not a US citizen?" And PA taxpayers will be glad to hear the answer: "Yes. Your child(ren) do not have to be a US citizen to qualify for free or reduced price meals."

    9/11, 9:11, and a Computer Crash

    For the past couple of years, it seems that every time I look at a digital clock it's 9:11. In the next few months my two oldest are turning 9 then 11. And this morning, my computer AND The Man's computer died.

    Apropos I guess.

    The computers shut themselves off as soon as you turn them on--they can't even be opened in Safe Mode. Once again I have to say that the little hacking geeks that create and spread these viruses should be subject to capital punishment.

    This morning FNC was showing much of the footage from September 11, 2001--and eight years later I still can't watch without tearing up...

    You Callin' ME Out?!

    "...Stepping into a fray that still threatens to kill plans for national health care overhaul, President Barack Obama declared Wednesday that "the time for bickering is over" and outlined principles for Congress to follow in the debate...

    To those who misrepresent the plan to rouse opposition, Obama said defiantly, "We will call you out" in the weeks to come." (source)

    From the Urban Dictionary:

    "call out

    (vb or n) To mock or insult someone or to issue a challenge for them to fight.

    After hearing Julio call out Richard for stepping on his shoes, the students rushed to the scene to see what the excitement was all about.

    We've already learned that "misrepresenting" something to the O! administration means pointing out the facts they hoped the public wouldn't find out about...

    For years the Right has been calling for the two only things that could prompt real health care reform without giving the creeping bureaucracy that is the Government something else to F-up: Tort reform and for Insurance companies to be able to cross state lines. If litigious Americans and ambulance chasers are punished instead of rewarded and all the insurance companies could compete for your business nationwide...reform would be inevitable (and done within the free market system).

    What Am I Talking About?

    I know I've posted the graphic from this site here before, but I thought this list was interesting...why am I talking about Illinois?

    Most Frequently Mentioned Topics [on this blog]:

    * Barack Obama
    * United States
    * John McCain
    * New York
    * Google Inc.
    * U.S. Republican Party
    * U.S. Democratic Party
    * California
    * Iraq
    * George W. Bush
    * Florida
    * Britain
    * Bill Clinton
    * U.S. Congress
    * Illinois
    * Hillary Rodham Clinton
    * Arizona
    * China
    * Ohio
    * YouTube

    Anyway, this is from a site called Daylife...which kept me from chores yesterday as I looked through all the pics they have on their site (like the creepy statue of Michael and BoBo). I think I might really like this site...give me a few days...

    My Blog Links

    The other night I finally sat down and went through my blog roll in an attempt to purge it of dead links (I'm still not done)...and, I have been meaning to ask you all who I should have linked that I don't.

    Some links felt weird The Man's, JustRose's and CBFTW's. They don't blog anymore though. So dead links were removed (along with a few live links that had de-linked me on their blog rolls...petty? Maybe.)

    People email and ask for links quite often, but that's not how it works... Blogs I read get links and faithful readers and commenters get links. So, if you've been hanging here for a while and I haven't linked you, it's not because I don't want to. It's because I have completely neglected my blogroll for way too long. Leave any links I've neglected in the comments (or in em if you wish).

    Census Problem Solved?

    Wasn't part of the controversy about ACORN's involvement with the upcoming census that they'd count illegals to up the numbers in Democratic Congressional areas?

    "It's a concern, especially when you look at all the different charges of voter fraud. And it's not just the lawmakers' concern. It should be the concern of every citizen in the country," Rep. Lynn A. Westmoreland, R-Ga., vice ranking member of the subcommittee for the U.S. Census, told "We want an enumeration. We don't want to have any false numbers." (source)

    Well, now "immigration activists" are urging illegals to boycott the census:

    "...A small but vocal group of advocates is urging illegal immigrants and their supporters nationwide to boycott the 2010 Census to protest the government’s inaction on immigration legislation, a move that, if successful, could cost Massachusetts and other states millions of dollars...

    ...But proponents say the boycott would pressure politicians to address problems illegal immigrants face every day - such as long separations from their families back home - and pursue a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s immigration system that would provide a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants.

    “Legalize us before you count us,’’ Fausto da Rocha, a Brazilian immigrant leader in Boston said on a talk-radio show in Quincy last week, where callers from as far away as Brunswick, Maine, expressed support for the boycott. “Politics is about power and money, and by not giving your information, you’ll be taking away money and power from the politicians.’’..." (source)

    So, uh, problem solved?

    Seriously though, isn't this a little kooky? Lawbreakers making demands? Try that in a Muslim country...

    Laugh at the Lefties

    I was becoming a bit bored with the Kos Kids and the absolute FREAKS over at the DU (Democratic Underground)...but don't fret...I found a new (to me) site that amused me for a while last night:

    Campus Progress.

    It's rife with excellent reading. For example:
    Know Your Right Wing Ideologues
    Putting progressive ideas into practice
    And, (God help us) Opinions

    Here is part of their mission statement:
    "Campus Progress, part of the Center for American Progress, works to help young people -- advocates, activists, journalists, artists -- make their voices heard on issues that matter. Through an online magazine and student publications, public events, multimedia projects, and grassroots issue campaigns..."

    I'm thinking I should email them...I am an advocate, an activist, a journalist, and a paid you think they're working to make MY voice heard? ;)

    The President Talking to Our Kids...

    ...should be a positive thing.

    I know everyone got freaked out initially by the thought of Obama talking policy via closed caption TV, but as long as he steers clear of ideological politics...I have no issue with the President taking time to address school kids.

    And lest you think this is a Rahm Emmanuel brain child...the first President Bush did this too. But to be fair I should mention that at the time "Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.), said "The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students." (source)

    And I realize if Bushy Jr.had aspired to talk to the nation's children in their classrooms, there would have been mass chaos and maybe even an urban school revolt...BUT, let's not go there people.

    WE are the rational ones...remember?

    You can read the entire speech online and it's pretty innocuous.

    As long as you are constantly talking to your kids when they get really doesn't matter what they are being shown at school.

    Instead of granting the MSM news clips of Conservatives complaining about the President talking to schools (because of course they'll portray it as Conservatives being upset a BLACK president is talking to their kids)...we should just keep repeating what Democrats said when it was Bush or Reagan talking to kids so they have to play those clips.

    (...thanks to NewsBusters for digging up that Gephardt quote!)

    Van Jones Gate?

    Everyone is probably talked out when it comes to ex-"Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones, but it's not my fault all the good stuff happens while I'm enjoying an overcast week in the Outer Banks...

    Here's the thing, there's something that's bugging me more than the "9/11 was an Inside Job" petition (that was so complex the Harvard grad couldn't grasp what he was signing), or the whole white people are spreading germs, or even that he's one of those morons that can't decide whether Dubya is a dumb chimp or an manacle genius...what bugs me is the fact that this Administration seems incapable of vetting someone. Has the FBI and CIA been rendered this impotent that they don't even know when someone's a member of the 9/11 truth squad (So much for the evil Rovian Patriot Act!!!!)!?

    If they can't find the dirt on people that are handing them applications, how are they going to track and find terrorists that aren't filling out their silly questionnaires?

    ...And is "smear campaign" now constituted by playing unedited YouTube clips...?

    "Complicated issues made simple: War on Terror...Democratic Response"
    "Imagine you grew up with a Bully in your neighborhood. At first he just called you names with an occasional stick or stone thrown in for big deal. As the years went by he became more aggressive, black eye one day, tore your clothes in a wrestling match...all to be ignored. Then there was the time the Bully broke your arm and knocked your friend's teeth out. You said you had seen enough, vowed to do something...actually called the Bully and threatened to do something ...but did nothing.

    Then he started harassing the neighbors...threatening everybody that wasn't in his small circle of friends.The next thing you know, he shows up at your front door with a gun, shoots you in the leg and flees. Before you had even recuperated he actually drives his car into your house, burning half of it to the ground! And...tells you he'll be back soon to burn the rest down!

    That was it. You called the neighbors together, told them you were going to go over to the Bully's house, confront him and put an end to it...once and for all. They all supported you doing it...but they were also afraid.

    You actually did it! And a huge fight ensues and goes on for much longer than anyone expected. In is still going on and the neighbors are really getting nervous.

    Guess what some of the neighbors and the Democrats say now..."you should have never called him a Bully...and you certainly shouldn't have gone over to his just made him madder."

    Laughable isn't it...but true."

    Best of BS: "Are You Doomed for Divorce?"

    (Originally posted 9/29/07)

    Apparently it comes down to these five questions:

    1) Have you attended college? (If yes, risk decreases by 13%)
    Yes: 1pt.

    2) Is your annual income over $50K? (If yes, risk decreases by 30%)
    Yes: 4 pts.

    3) Do you have a religious affiliation? (If yes, risk decreases by 14%)
    Yes: 1 pt.

    4) Are your parents still married? (If yes, risk decreases by 14%)
    Yes: 1 pt.

    5) Where you married after the age of 25? (If yes, risk decreases by 24%)
    Yes: 3 pts.

    **If you scored less than 4 pts. you are "doomed for divorce"
    **If you scored between 5-7 you might have a chance with hard work
    **If you scored between 8-10 you'll probably make it

    Of course all this research was done by Cosmopolitan magazine --right along side this month's sex tips from take it as you will.

    I scored a 9 and The Man scored a 7, so I guess we're okay; but they don't tell you what it means if one person gets a 10 and the other a 1...

    Random Divorce facts:

    -The highest divorce rate is in Nevada.
    -Only 63% of American children grow up with both biological parents -- the lowest figure in the Western world.
    -Men take separation/divorce harder than women.

    Best of BS: Disturbing Thoughts on Ageing...

    (Originally posted 7/3/07)

    Did you know the expression "long in the tooth" refers to the receding of your gums which makes your teeth appear longer as you age? How disturbing is that?

    Add that to your nose and ears drooping (or continuing to grow throughout your life as I've heard before) and hair leaving the places it should be to pop up in places it should never be...

    All this is from one of the most disturbing and depressing articles that Liz sent me:

    Beauty over 40: Five things they didn't tell you

    So, let's see, smoking will take ten years off my life? The long teeth years? The droopy nose and big ears years? The liver spot and purple veins years? The women with teen wolf hair years?

    Good God, why am I trying to quit?

    ...Now that I have been a non-smoker for A YEAR AND A HALF, I look forward to being "long in the tooth" (that's why there's porcelain veneers, right?)

    Best of BS: Guest Post by Brian

    (Originally posted 7/18/07)

    This land is Our Land!
    It has often been suggested that the descendants of the Europeans who came to the North and Central American continents should see the error of their ancestor’s ways and go back to Europe; leaving the infrastructure and riches that they had spent the last several centuries building up behind them of course.

    Let us for the moment ignore the fact that those who came from Europe won the North American continent over centuries of military engagements. The North American and Mexican inhabitants, who were no strangers to armed conflicts, simply were beaten by a superior force. This was no David and Goliath story. The conflicts with the “Native Americans” in both North America and Mexico more resembled an encounter between Goliath and a club sandwich. This is neither here nor there. The Mayan and Huron Indians didn’t seem to mind picking on weaker opponents when they were on the winning side of the equation. Once again, let’s ignore this and assume we can wave a magic wand and give everything back. If we are going to be “fair” in those regards, we can’t have our compassion end there.

    The Sioux had generations of warfare against the neighboring Pawnee tribe. Over time they had taken land from the Pawnee and committed war crimes that included the killing of women and children. So when the Europeans are gone, do the Pawnee get the land that Sioux had taken from them?

    The Iroquois were to eastern tribes of Native Americans what the 72 Dolphins were to the NFL. So do we follow their chain of conquest and give back all the territory they conquered to the remnants of their victims? I wonder how long it will take to find the real last of the Mohicans?

    If we are going to continue down this road, The Aztecs pretty much conquered anybody worth conquering in what is now Mexico. So when the evil Europeans are gone, we need to find the people brutalized by the Aztecs and give them back the land that was taken by their aggressive, human sacrifice enabling, oppressors.

    If we are going to even entertain the idea that the conquest by Europeans was somehow reprehensible we have to apply the same moral standards to the conquests that happened before Columbus got lost on his way to India and give land back to the conquered people of North and Central American’s all the way down the line.

    One of the oldest human fossils found on the North American continents was the skeleton found in Washington that was dubbed Kennewick Man (The oldest being a skeleton found on the Santa Rosa Island). The 9,300 years old bones had more in common with Eddie Haskel than they did George Lopez. In short, it was quickly clear that this was the remains of a Caucasian who, at the very least, shared the land with the ancestors of the people who are screaming that whites are simply European squatters who need to leave.

    In an attempt to prevent any research on the skeleton, Indian tribes quickly locked the remains up with court orders to prevent any further research. Despite the lawyer enabled efforts to push these bones into an unmarked Indian grave and pretend they don’t exist, it is undeniable that this changes the landscape of the debate over who were the first Americans.

    So, let’s give them their wish, and follow the chain of conquests back to the start, giving ownership of the land back to those who had been beaten until we come back to the very first person who was wronged. Seeing as there were no Caucasians here when the Vikings or Columbus came over, apparently Kennewick Man had been conquered, so in the spirit of fairness, the land should go back to him. In the end it all comes back to a white guy anyway. Doesn’t it feel great to have this settled now?

    Core Values?

    You Are Ethical and Generous

    You are driven to be the best. You have sky high ambitions and standards.

    People may think that you are hard on them, but you are the hardest on yourself.

    You may be hard working, but you're not selfish. You work hard because you want the world to be a better place.

    You give until it hurts and then still keep giving. Very few people appreciate all that you do.

    Best of BS: Entitlement, The Sentiment of the Times

    (Originally posted 7/23/07 and I guess with the "Is health care a privileged or a right?" discussion...even more relevant now)

    A sense of entitlement is quite possibly the worst trait someone can have. Why the hell does anyone OWE you ANYTHING?

    I have a foster brother that came to live with my family when he was 16. His father used to beat him mercilessly and boil his hands in pasta water. His father also hung him upside down in the garage for days and his grandmother would come in and beat him with brooms and shovels...for real. He lived with us until he was 19. He wouldn't get his act together and my mom kicked him out and wouldn't give in. He was homeless and living in nasty shelters for a spell. He now owns his own house. He could have milked the system forever. Could have wallowed in self-pity. If he could do it on his own -dirt poor and mentally and physically abused for one else has an excuse. Anyone can make it.

    Unfortunately, I seem to be a minority with this opinion...

    "...A popular backlash against globalisation and the leaders of the world’s largest companies is sweeping all rich countries, an FT/Harris poll shows.

    Large majorities of people in the US and in Europe want higher taxation for the rich and even pay caps for corporate executives to counter what they believe are unjustified rewards and the negative effects of globalisation.

    Viewing globalisation as an overwhelmingly negative force, citizens of rich countries are looking to governments to cushion the blows they perceive have come from the liberalisation of their economies to trade with emerging countries." (source)

    Hillary is playing right into this "give me what isn't mine" mood --here's what Romney had to say about Hillary's "economic plan":

    ""Hillary Clinton just gave a speech the other day about her view on the economy. She said we have been an on-your-own society. She said it's time to get rid of that and replace that with shared responsibility and we're-in-it-together society," Romney told the crowd. "That's out with Adam Smith and in with Karl Marx."
