Feeling Sick? STAY HOME!

Don't you hate the "trooper" that comes into work bragging about how sick (s)he is and expecting praise for dragging their snotty, coughing self in to the office? (If your work doesn't have one, it's probably you...) Or when you drop your kids off at school and there's the kid with green snot dripping that should probably not only be home, but quarantined (that kid's parents always claim it's allergies...)

If you are sick...STAY HOME. If your kids are sick...KEEP THEM HOME. Not just because yet another Mexican-born virus is sweeping the US, but because it's common courtesy.

"...The World Health Organization said on Wednesday the world is at the brink of a pandemic, raising its threat level as the swine flu virus spread and killed the first person outside of Mexico, a toddler in Texas.

"Influenza pandemics must be taken seriously precisely because of their capacity to spread rapidly to every country in the world," WHO Director General Margaret Chan told a news conference in Geneva as she raised the official alert level to phase 5, the last step before a pandemic.

"The biggest question is this: how severe will the pandemic be, especially now at the start," Chan said. But she added that the world "is better prepared for an influenza pandemic than at any time in history.".." (source)

You don't need to rush and get a Michael Jackson mask just yet.. Here are the actual, common sense ways you can avoid contracting H1N1:

1) Wash your hands until you need a $50 Mary Kay kit to make them look human again.
2) If you or your child don't feel well...stay home and rest.
3) Cover your mouth (in your elbow, not with your hands) when coughing or sneezing.
4) Bolster your immune system with plenty of sleep and a good diet.

I added a #5 for The Man...steer clear of all the illegals on the job site you're on. For real.
