Democrat in WV Tries to Ban Barbie, Just Like Democrats in VT
"Just in time for Barbie's 50th birthday, a West Virginia lawmaker wants to outlaw the doll.
Democratic Delegate Jeff Eldridge is proposing to ban the sale of the Mattel doll and others like her in West Virginia.
He says the dolls influence girls to place too much importance on physical beauty, at the expense of their intellectual and emotional development.
He joins others who have criticized the doll over the years for promoting materialism and an unnatural body image..." (source)
"I just hate the image that we give to our kids that if you're beautiful, you're beautiful and you don't have to be smart," the second-term state lawmaker, who has been an educator and social worker, told West Virginia media Tuesday.
Barbie was banned in Montpelier, Vt., in 2006..." (source)
Geez, I hate this guy. Is he (shall we cal him Burgermeister?) looking to ban GI Joe dolls because they're tough and ripped and he grew up to be a doughy geek in a bad, brown tie that's obsessed with Barbie dolls? With the press calling someone that went from a size 6 to a size 8 fat (when the average American women is probably a 12 or 16) like they did to Jessica Simpson...Barbie dolls are the very least of what little girls have to worry about...
Oh, and I hate Vermont too...that is definitely one state I will never step a non-Birkenstocked foot in...
Like this is a pressing issue with everything going on? He should be fined just like the chicken McNugget lady.
