The DNC, Abortion and the Bible

"... Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday told U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic who supports abortion rights, that Catholic politicians have a duty to protect life "at all stages of its development," the Vatican said.

Pelosi is the first top Democrat to meet with Benedict since the election of Barack Obama, who won a majority of the Catholic vote despite differences with the Vatican on abortion.

The Vatican released remarks by the pope to Pelosi, saying Benedict spoke of the church's teaching "on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death." That is an expression often used by the pope when expressing opposition to abortion.

Benedict said all Catholics—especially legislators, jurists and political leaders—should work to create "a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development."

Pelosi could not immediately be reached after the 15-minute meeting, which was closed to reporters and photographers. The two met in a small room of a Vatican auditorium after the pope's weekly public audience.

A number of the bishops in the United States have questioned Pelosi's stance on abortion, particularly her theological defense of her support for abortion rights..." (source)

There are certain subjects that incur so much ire (and pain/guilt?) that it often stops me from posing them here in deference to people's feelings...

BUT, in my heart of hearts I can't help but question the Catholics and Christians that vote Democrat. Specifically the ones that vote for candidates that claim to be catholic and support abortion -like Pelosi...or claim to be Christian and support abortion -like Obama.

The abortion issue SHOULD BE huge to people that actually believe and strive to live by the teaching in the Bible. I can't see how one could remedy claiming to be a Christian and then voting for someone who would not only defend abortion in its earliest stages, but partial birth abortion AND denying care to living babies that are products of botched abortions (please don't say anything about Conservatives supporting the death penalty here...when people compare child murderers to an infant it's...well, infantile.)

This is not meant to be bombastic...and not meant to be red meat thrown to the masses... my honest inner self has wondered since November 4th about the people that call themselves Christians and pulled the lever for Obama...
