Barack Obama's Team Believes He Can Win By a Landslide.

"...Barack Obama's senior aides believe he is on course for a landslide election victory over John McCain and will comfortably exceed most current predictions in the race for the White House.

Their optimism, which is said to be shared by the Democratic candidate himself, is based on information from private polling and on faith in the powerful political organisation he has built in the key swing states.

Insiders say that Mr Obama's apparent calm through an unusually turbulent election season is because he believes that his strength among first time voters in several key states has been underestimated, both by the media and by the Republican Party.

Mr Obama has come under fire from within Democratic ranks over his message and his tactics. Critics say he has failed to connect with the blue-collar workers seen as crucial to winning the election, and too reluctant to make direct attacks on Mr McCain.

But his aides are convinced that he has a strong chance of winning no fewer than nine states won by George W.Bush in the closely contested 2000 election, including former Republican strongholds like North Carolina, Virginia and even Indiana, which have not voted Democrat for a generation..." (source)

Apparently polls say that Obama "outperformed" McCain in the first debate. Were they watching the same two people I was...? With Obama stuttering and McCain making him look like a little boy with no knowledge of the world outside Chicago?!

Someone please reassure me that saying the word "Change" a bunch of times couldn't really result in a "landslide"...

The GOP Has Become Gutless

"The spokeswoman for the Republican Party in Nevada's most populous county was removed from her post Saturday, after she said the Democratic Party made black people "dependent on the government."

Didi Lima, the Clark County GOP communications director, also was removed from her volunteer role as a Hispanic community liaison for Republican John McCain's presidential campaign over the remarks made earlier in the day while working at a McCain campaign booth.

"We don't want (Hispanics) to become the new African-American community," Lima told The Associated Press. "And that's what the Democratic Party is going to do to them, create more programs and give them handouts, food stamps and checks for this and checks for that. We don't want that."

"I'm very much afraid that the Democratic Party is going to do the same thing that they did with the African-American culture and make them all dependent on the government and we don't want that," she said." (source)

Forget the fact that I have been saying the DNC purposefully created a dependent voter base within the African American community for the entirety of this blog...Black Conservative leaders have been saying it for as long as I can remember. The DNC plays on those that would see themselves as victims, those that have a strong sense of entitlement and those that feel they deserve a piece of what others worked hard to achieve. This isn't a racial statement...those people come in all shades and the common denominator is normally low income --not color of skin.

Obama's Commercials Are Corralling the Sheep

Over the past week or so there have been a few people around me that have unexpectedly pledged their vote to Obama. "Really, why?!" I have asked...already knowing the answer I will get from my non-political friends. "Because..." and from there they go through the Obama commercials running here in the Keystone State one by one. If they knew what they sounded like -they'd realize how embarrassed I was for them as they stood there reciting their pre-prepared list. It's pathetic...and brilliant. Obama's campaign has definitely tapped into reaching the uninformed dolts of society (no offense to my friends that have taken the carrot). From Stem cell research, to McCain hating women, to oil companies...

But here's the thing --As I told you before the ever-Blue state Pennsylvania is IN PLAY IN THIS ELECTION. Right now the candidates are tied (which is never the case in September -the Dem is Always ahead). PA has a chance of being red on the map for the first time since 1988 --and there are NO John McCain ads to be seen. WHERE IS THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN TO BALANCE OUT THE MESSAGES THE SHEEP ARE RECEIVING?!

Why haven't I seen THIS in a commercial --or better yet, THIS?

No, instead I have to see/hear some monotone female factory worker that couldn't even memorize her lines saying John McCain didn't want her making the same as the men in her plant--which the non-sheep already know is a lie.

The McCain camp really needs to step it up here in this pivotal state. I am hear to tell them Obama's ads are having an effect.

Never Did Trust Those Quakers...

The area surrounding my house is chock full of Quakers, their $20K a year Friends schools and their candle vigils. The Man's brother's ex-girlfriend was a Quaker and I found it interesting that his vegetarianism and nasty Birkenstocks exited his life the same time she did. Yeah, the "Peace IS THE WAY" banners have always rubbed me the wrong way because of the infantile naiveté of the slogan...but they're pretty innocuous right? They just sit in their meeting houses until someone is moved to speak and espouse peace. That's what I thought...until this:

" An event organized by several religious groups to honor Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in New York Thursday has drawn ire from the Catholic League and several Jewish organizations, UPI reported.

Catholic League President Bill Donohue called on supporters to attend a rally to disrupt Thursday’s “obscene” Ramadan event.

"Ahmadinejad is a menace to freedom-loving people the world over, and the sight of religious groups embracing him is nauseating," Donohue told UPI. "The Catholic League is proud to take part in this rally, and we encourage people of all religious groups to have a contingent represent them on Thursday evening."

The "Christian" groups behind the event to honor Ahmadinejad are the American Friends Service Committee, Mennonite Central Committee, Quaker United Nations Office, Religions for Peace and the World Council of Churches, UPI reported..." (Read the entire article)

The really twisted thing about this to that the largest population in all the Friend's school here are not Quaker, but Jewish. I wonder what will prevail for all those parents dishing out University money for high school --their liberalism or pride in their heritage?

As of yesterday I was 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced with baby's head STILL DOWN! :)

In preparation for my hospital stay I finally attempted posting something to the blog from my Blackberry. I can't get it to happen. Apparently there is a Blogger-Mobile capability, but I seem to be unable to utilize it.

Has anyone used Blogger's dashboard from their mobile device that can guide me?

Kids & Politics: The Anti-Obama Shirt

"...An 11-year-old boy in Colorado was suspended from school after he refused to take off a shirt that read, “Obama is a terrorist’s best friend.” His father says that the school is violating his son’s First Amendment rights.

Daxx Dalton, a fifth grader at Aurora Frontier K-8 School in Aurora, Colo., wore the homemade shirt on a day when students were asked to show their patriotism by wearing red, white and blue, according to

When he was given the choice of turning the shirt inside out or being suspended, Dalton chose suspension..." (source)

Personally, I wouldn't want my boys wearing anything political to school. It's too volatile a subject and I wouldn't want teachers and administration treating them bad because of MY politics. I see little kids in Obama shirts at my boys' school quite often and I get annoyed with the parents. Two of the kids I have seen have been in the love of B. Hussein is obviously their parents and not theirs.

Though I guess this means someone has to send their kid to school wearing an Anti-McCain shirt and see if a suspension ensues...

PETA Insanity Reaches New Heights

"...People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

"PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.

PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.." (source)

I am a HUGE breastfeeding advocate...for INFANTS. This is just...ewww. HIV can be passed through breast milk. Talk about jumping the shark...

Did I get Hit by a MACK Truck?

...because that's what I feel like today.

I wanted to THANK you ALL immensely for all your prayers and well wishes (especially Courtney...since she's a lefty praying from a public school!!! LOL) It must have worked. All the nurses told me my ECV (or a "Version" as the medical people call it) went quicker and more successfully than any they've seen in years.

It hurt WAY worse than I thought it would (about a 9 on a scale of 1-10), but it was over in about 12 minutes and his head is down for the time being. Now I need more wishing and praying that he STAYS head down and doesn't make all that pain for nothing! :)

Today I feel like someone ran me down with a cement roller, but if I avoided major surgery I'll be a very happy girl!

Thank you all!

Go Ahead. Lash Out Against the Bailout. (And then go cry to Uncle Sam when you don't have a job anymore.)

It’s quite simple:

If the government, like it or hate it, does not prop up Wall Street, we will have an even greater depression. There is no choice.

You will be out of a job, and you will run to Uncle Sam for help.

You will not have health care, and you will run to Uncle Sam for help.

You will not be able to buy food or gas, and you will run to Uncle Sam for help.

You will have lost your life’s savings, and Uncle Sam won’t be able to help. Sorry.

So. Uncle Sam now or Uncle Sam… many, many times over… later.

Besides, we’ve bailed out nearly every other country in the world, some of them a couple of times, with both money and blood and we liked it.

Don’t you think it’s time we cared about ourselves for once?

Born Alive Truth

Regardless of your views on abortion ---or even partial birth abortion, you HAVE to be against leaving a baby that was born alive in a bucket to die because it was supposed to be an abortion. It's done more than you think. It's despicable for a third world country, but unthinkable for the United States of America.

The charge against Obama:

Obama's misleading response:

Obama's record on the subject (Even though he considers thinking about this "above his pay grade." Above 44.7 million a year?)

What I'll Be Doing (or Having Done) Today

I will be admitted to the hospital around 8:30 this morning and we will (hopefully) be turning the baby and I will be going home. Worse case scenario...I will be having an emergency C-section.

Happy & positive thoughts!

Biden Stepping Down?

It appears that the current buzz on the Internet is the question of whether or not Biden will be stepping down and Hillary will be taking his place as VP candidate.

Here's the content of an e-mail I got this morning from a friend (thanks, J!) --

On or about October 5th, Biden will excuse himself from the ticket, citing health
problems, and he will be replaced by Hillary. This is timed to occur after the VP
debate on 10/2.

There have been talks all weekend about how to proceed with this info. Generally,
the feeling is that we should all go ahead and get it out there to as many blog sites
and personal email lists as is possible. I have already seen a few short blurbs about
this - the 'health problem' cited in those articles was aneurysm. Probably many of
you have heard the same rumblings.

However, at this point, with this inside info from the DNC, it looks like this Obama
strategy will be a go. Therefore, it seems that the best strategy is to get out in front
of this Obama maneuver, spell it out in detail, and thereby expose it for the grand
manipulation that it is.

So, let's start mixing this one up and cut the Obamites off at the pass - send this
info out to as many people as you can - post about it on websites and blogs - etc.

[Source unknown]

Coincidentally, yesterday I was doing some reading about Biden's health. I find it curious that some of McCain's opponents point to his age and health as risk factors, overlooking that Biden is only six years younger and had two surgeries for brain aneurysms in 1988.

In August, FoxNews reported this:

Biden underwent surgery in 1988 to repair two berry aneurysms on opposite sides of his brain. (A berry aneurysm gets its name because the bulge it creates is so small it looks like a tiny blueberry.)

As long as Biden is checked regularly by his health care providers, and has regular brain CT scans (at least every 1-2 years), he should have a normal life expectancy, Dr. Michael Marin, chief of surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, told

"He is probably on medication, but not for the aneurysms. Maybe for blood pressure or that kind of thing," Marin said. "These aneurysms were diagnosed before he had any events, so he is fine."

An aneurysm is an enlargement of a normal artery. If an artery has a bulge on its surface – due to genetics or a medical condition such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure – and the artery wall becomes stretched, it can rupture.

Another coincidence:
this morning I got my weekly update from Snopes, the website that's great for checking out "urban legends" and some of those questionable e-mails that get forwarded to your inbox en masse. This week's update included its take on this Biden / Hillary rumor. It states that the veracity of the e-mail is "undetermined," citing that there have always been such rumors during presidential campaigns. The origins of such rumors are from back when McGovern abruptly replaced his VP running mate Thomas Eagleton for Sargent Shriver just 18 days after the Democratic National Convention in 1972.

If you google "Biden stepping down," you will find numerous pages of links to articles and blogs discussing this rumor.

Is it possible that Biden will step down and Hillary would be tapped to take his place? With how ugly this campaign is getting (and getting uglier by the day!), I kind of put a bit of stock in this rumor. There are so many angry Hillary supporters, many going over to the McCain camp with the selection of Palin as his running mate. Obama and McCain are fairly neck and neck in various opinion polls, with Palin having boosted McCain a bit among voters.

It would be one helluva of clever move -- dumping Biden for Hillary would probably cinch the election for the Democratic ticket.
I think Obama and his advisers are shrewd enough to "throw Biden under the bus."

An Amish farmer walking through his field notices a man drinking from his pond, with his hand.

The Amish man shouts: "Trinken Sie nicht das Wasser, die Kühe und die Schweine haben in ihm geschissen!"

Which means: "Don't drink the water, the cows and the pigs have shit in it!"

The man shouts back: "I'm a Muslim, I don't understand your gibberish. Speak English, infidel!"

The Amish man shouts back in English: "Use two hands, you'll get more!!"

It's the Economy...

"The Democratic-controlled Congress, acknowledging that it isn't equipped to lead the way to a solution for the financial crisis and can't agree on a path to follow, is likely to just get out of the way..." (source)

People keep asking me why the Republicans are being blamed in the MSM and by the Kos kids for a tanked economy and gas prices when the Congress has been under Democratic control since 2006. The job market and the economy was thriving when they took office.

...Maybe when B. Hussein says we need change, he means we need a Republican Congress again to help the economy?

...and all this while Joe Biden (the walking gaffe machine -nice choice Obama) is confusing the word "Patriotic" with Communism and Socialism:

Q: So anyone making over $250K is going to pay more?

Biden: You got it! It's time to be patriotic. Time to jump in. Time to be part of the deal. Time to help get America out of a rut.

I *HEART* My Blackberry

"...The study of 6,500 traveling executives says 35 percent of them would choose their PDA over their spouse.

"That's a tough call," one said.

"Oh you don't want to go there," another added.

And apparently that attitude is being seen in the sack. Of those polled, 87 percent said they bring their devices into the bedroom.

Another 84 percent check their e-mails just before they go to sleep. Another 80 percent check them in the morning as soon as they get up.

Of those polled, 62 percent said they love their blackberry or PDA, and most of them said it makes their life more productive." (source)

I do LOVE my Blackberry, but I'm not to the point where I'd pick it over The Man... Though by the time I got it, I was over my Blogging/Internet addiction. had I gotten it a few years ago -there may have been issues...

The Truth About Obama's "Equal Pay"

I LOVE the "equal pay" commercials that the Obama camp has been running ad naseum here in Pennsylvania. Why? Because they are a direct and tangible rebuttal to the lip service that's been offered since the Palin nomination claiming they have no fear of losing any women to McCain. The amount of money that has been spent running that ad belies there confidence and tells the true tale of panic...and the FACTS should make that panic worse:

'But McCain's campaign cited Senate records to assert that McCain pays women better in his office than Obama does.

"Barack Obama says he's for equal pay for women, but women working in his Senate office earn an average of $9,000 less than men. By contrast, women in John McCain's Senate office actually earn an average of nearly $2,000 more than men. The American people understand that real leadership for the change we need is all about what you do, not just empty words," McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said in a statement.

The study that McCain's campaign cites, however, notes that a major reason for the disparity is that McCain has more women in senior, higher-paid positions..." (source)

I completely agree with the case that McCain voted against... The woman wasn't suing to make equal pay, --she was suing for back pay (like reparations which I am also against). This would set a precedent that would further weaken the economy and job market. Woman should make equal pay -no doubt -but I agree that every woman in America can't now sue for years and years of retroactive pay. Let's move forward from here.

Filed Under: Are You For Real?!

This might be the kookiest story of the election cycle thus far:

"While Palin's assertion that the only difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull was "lipstick" drew a loud ovation from the Republican faithful in St. Paul, it raised the ire of the Pit Bull Anti-Defamation League, a powerful association of pit-bull fanciers who monitor the portrayal of pit bulls in the media.

"As someone who has owned pit bulls for the past 20 years, my jaw dropped," said Carol Foyler, the group's executive director. "Most of us are thinking the same thing: Enough is enough."

Foyler said that for pit-bull owners who have grown weary of their prized dogs being defamed and mistreated, Palin's wisecrack was the last straw: "We're all like, first the Michael Vick thing, and now this.

Tracy Klugian, an irate pit-bull owner from Buffalo, N.Y., echoed Foyler's sentiments: "I can think of many differences between pit bulls and Gov. Palin — for starters, pit bulls don't try to get their ex-brothers-in-law fired."" (source)

Yeah, and pit bulls probably don't taser their 10 year old offspring either...

This is why I haven't been blogging much...I'm trying to keep my blood pressure down.

Celebtards Discuss Sarah Palin

This from that media and politically savvy (and newly gay 'cause it's the cool new thing and diverts the paparazzi from her many foibles), ginger kid Lindsay Lohan:

"I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin.

I couldn't be more supportive of a woman in office, but let's face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female.

Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?

I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States, only 4 years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor. Which is probably all she is qualified to be... Also interesting that she got her passport in 2006.. And that she is not fond of environmental protection considering she's FOR drilling for oil in some of our protected land.... Well hey, if she wants to drill for oil, she should DO IT IN HER OWN backyard. This really shows me her complete lack of real preparation to become the second most powerful person in this country.

Hmmmm-All of this gets me going-Fear, Anxiety, Concern, Disappointment, and Stress come into play...

Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?

I know that the most important thing about this election is that people need to exercise their right to vote, regardless of their choice... I would have liked to have remained impartial, however I am afraid that the "lipstick on a pig" comments will overshadow the issues and the fact that I believe Barack Obama is the best choice, in this election, for president..." (source)

Then there's the tiny little Matt Damon:

"You do the actuary tables, there's a one out of three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn't survive his first term, and it'll be President Palin. ... It's like a really bad Disney movie, "The Hockey Mom." Oh, I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska, and she's president. She's facing down Vladimir Putin and using the folksy stuff she learned at the hockey rink. It's absurd." (source)

And the "What Not to Wear" candidate, Margaret Cho:

"I have nothing against hockey moms -- I just don't want to be one. If Sarah Palin had her way, she would take away that right not to be a mom. She wants to outlaw abortion -- so to call her a feminist is as laughable as calling evangelicals 'Christians.' They shouldn't have the right to call themselves Christian, for they have no Christ-like attributes. I am a feminist and a Christian -- and when I see Sarah Palin -- I see neither." (source)

Wow, such bitterness. here's the thing...we don't need "actuary tables" to predict Obama being in the Oval office. He's the community organizer that feels running a campaign is equivalent to executive experience and he's not the Veep!

Messiah of The Left

Have you heard the new "witty catch phrase" of the loons?

“Jesus was a community organizer. Pontius Pilate was a governor.” ([lame]"Response")

So they are now out-and-out comparing someone that voting AGAINST putting an end to partial birth abortion and attended a overtly racist church for 20+ years to JESUS Christ?! I know we've joked about it, but now Andrew Sullivan, Kos, Susan Surrandon and other top Lefty kooks are all repeating this line like it's the new mantra.

I told you it was a sickness.

And I'd like to see the passages that assign the role of community organizer to Jesus. I know he was a carpenter (and NOT a union one...he worked in a independent family business) and I know he was so dynamic that people willingly followed him... I highly doubt he would have blocked life saving measures (food) for infants that survived failed abortion attempts and I'm pretty sure the whole 'Tower of Babel' story was meant to warn against a 'One World' government...but maybe that was just my interpretation.

I hope they keep comparing him to the Messiah and Sarah Palin to the man that "betrayed" him --that should win them voters... /sarcasm.

Open Letter to McCain

I want to pass on an important lesson that I have learned the hard way after 4 years of blogging...

Steer clear of jokes and sarcasm unless you specifically say it was jokes or sarcasm.

The sad truth is I've found (much to my dismay) that most Americans don't have an active sense of humor, nor do they fully comprehend the fundamentals of sarcasm.

If you say we'll be in Iraq for 100 years...people will think you mean it. If you say the middle class is anyone making under $500K...people will think you mean it and it will be discussed over tofu dip at Obama parties.

BUT, if Obama slips up and talks about his "Muslim faith" the media will quickly fix the slip and even conservative talk show hosts like Glenn Beck will tell conservative bloggers not to talk about it.

BreechA little update on what's going on here...

I'm now 36 weeks along (technically 4 weeks to go) and the baby is still breech. As of last Thursday's ultrasound they are guessing that he is already 8 lbs. 4 oz. (WITH 4 WEEKS TO GO!) Within the next week I am going to have a procedure called external cephalic version (ECV) where I will be hooked to an ultrasound machine and given a muscle relaxer so the midwife can attempt to manually turn the baby to a head down position.

I have tried all the voodoo tricks: flashlights and music in the nether regions, rocking on all fours, elevating hips over shoulders and having little ninja and The Man talk to him so he'll follow their voices. So now we resort to the big guns --anything to avoid a C-section if possible.

I'll let you know if the torture is successful (not sure what day it's happening yet), but keep your fingers crossed that he flips!

"Patriot's Day" Roundup
Have We Moved From Remembrance to Resolve?

I must be the worst political blogger EVER...because I had no idea 9/11 was now a recognized holiday called Patriot's Day until a letter came home from my kids' school asking that they were red, white and blue to school that day. When did this happen? By order of whom? And where the heck was I?

The boys at the Castle want to know Where were you on September 11, 2001?

I was standing on the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey watching a seemingly surreal line of black smoke creep down the horizon line.

Here's a little snippet of the RESOLVE going on over at The Rotti:

"So today we’ll remember that terrible day, perhaps shed a tear and once again resolve and swear before Almighty G-d that America will always stand for justice in a dangerous world.

We true Americans will always know the direction peril lies in and will not be distracted by the politics of victimhood, class-warfare and socialist ideology that places true patriotism in a trash bin."

Liberal Sickness

...or just engulfed in the cult that is Obama?

I can't even begin to imagine what would be going on in the MSM if McCain supporters were doing this...

A while back I was saying that those that support Obama had to be of sub par intelligence --not because he's a bad guy, but because he really (by his own admission) has no experience and has run on a word instead of viable ideas. I can't really say that though because I do know a few very intelligent people that are voting for B. Hussein --so it must be a cultish-Kool-Aidy kinda thing...

"...Something is not right. We have a terrific candidate and a terrific VP candidate. We’re coming off the worst eight years in our country’s history. Six of those eight years the Congress, White House and even the Supreme Court were controlled by the Republicans and the last two years the R’s have filibustered like tantrum throwing 4-year-olds, yet we’re going to elect a Republican who voted with that leadership 90% of the time and a former sportscaster who wants to teach Adam and Eve as science? That’s not odd as a difference of opinion, that’s logically and mathematically queer..." (Huffington Post: We’re Gonna Frickin’ Lose this Thing, By Adam McKay)

Obama Made the Best McCain Commercial

McCain's campaign has it easy...a 2004 interview with CNN is the only commercial they need to run from here to November IMO:

On why Obama ruled out running on a national ticket:

"I am a believer in knowing what you are doing when you apply for a job and I think that if I were to seriously consider running on a national ticket, I would essentially have to start now before having served one day on the Senate. Now there might be people who would be comfortable doing that, but, uh, I'm not one of those people." -B. Hussein Obama, 2004

(Video H/T: Stop the ACLU)

The Reemerging of Regan Democrats?

A new Obama/Biden/DNC talking point (that I am already sick to death of) is that Palin isn't going to attract women voters because she "doesn't stand for what most women stand for" and she's "the opposite of Hillary voters."

But the Obama crowd is focusing on a further left contingent and overlooking a huge group of constituents (st least here in the Northeast of the country) Catholics and FDR/Union Democrats. Catholics were traditionally Democrat by tradition, but they're also pro-country, pro-military and most The same with many union workers that vote left because it's what their union tells them to do...but won't take that as far as to vote for a B. Hussein Obama. The proof is in Biden's last visit to N.E. Philly (Catholic stronghold)...and these are lifelong Democrats talking:

"...In a corner booth, Biden sat down and, after a moment's conversation, planted a kiss on the forehead of Carolyn Bauer, age 89. Bauer explained afterward it wasn't such a friendly encounter.

"I told him I'm not going to vote for him," Bauer said. "Anybody who runs with a guy with a name like that is not going to get my vote. It'd be disgusting to get a man named Barack Obama as president of the United States. No way. I mean it . . . I'm going to vote for McCain and the lady."

"[Obama's] a Muslim," Bauer added. "He pretends to be a Christian, and he isn't, he's a Muslim."

"The Dunkin' Donut crowd tells me that we've got everything going for us but Obama," McAleer said. "They can't give me a direct answer. Do I have them right now in the 66th ward? No. But I got 60 days to get them."

Asked what the problem is with Obama, McAleer paused and said: "It's his color . . . I tell them he's half white and half black. He's got a better perspective for everything in this country."

Joe Dougherty, business manager for Ironworkers Local 401, which hosted Biden's morning event, also said race is an issue for many Democrats.

"I hear it in the neighborhood, and I hear it in the union," Dougherty said. "But I remind them (Obama's) mother was white. He sees all sides, and he could be just what we need to bring this country together." (source)

Regardless of the talking points, Palin will help McCain to attract many of these blue collar, catholic Democrats...the same ones that made Pennsylvania go Red twice for Ronald Reagan...

Fake Feminists

Many times on this site I have lamented the silence of top feminists against Islam --namely Gloria Steinem and Naomi Wolf. I have labeled myself a feminist (much to many readers' dismay) because I refuse to allow the Steinems and the Wolfs to define the word. To me feminism is embracing your feminine qualities and strengths. It's believing that women are every bit (if not more) capable of achieving as any man. It's not buying into the fact that I need to follow any prescribed path but my own. It's the inner strength that allows me to have strong opinions and beliefs, to take on misogyny anywhere it may be lurking...all while staying home to breastfeed and raise my own kids... I love that Sara Palin considers herself a feminist too because I'm sure our definitions would be similar.

Needless to say, a recent piece by Gloria Steinem was painful to read:

"...Selecting Sarah Palin, who was touted all summer by Rush Limbaugh, is no way to attract most women, including die-hard Clinton supporters. Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton. Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton's candidacy stood for -- and that Barack Obama's still does. To vote in protest for McCain/Palin would be like saying, "Somebody stole my shoes, so I'll amputate my legs." (source)

She then has the audacity to diminish Palin's experience. She goes further than the Left's talking points and says she only won in Alaska because the incumbent was so unpopular -along with the "lack of experience" article. Now, normally this is where we'd point out Steinem's hypocrisy in supporting Obama because he has less experience, but we can go even further than that with Gloria. Do you remember who she endorsed in 2004? Carol Mosley Braun.

This from the Sydney Herald:

"You would think the prospect of a woman in the White House as US vice-president - and a working mother to boot - would be welcomed by feminists. Not one bit.

The excoriation of the Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin, since John McCain unveiled her as his surprise running mate last week just goes to show that establishment feminists are only champions of women who subscribe to a narrow set of left-wing positions. They despise conservative women more than any man, and civil wars are always the most vicious..."

Another great article about this in the Wall Street Journal.

In Case You Missed It: Palin's Speech

Yes, it was a PREPARED SPEECH. Why does every talking head keep reiterating that?! EVERY speech given by a politician is a prepared speech. I guess they're just miffed it was such a GOOD SPEECH and so well delivered.

...I also loved Huckabee's line about Sara Palin receiving more votes for mayor in her hometown in Alaska than Joe Biden did for President.

And you gotta love Newt. Ron Allen (MSNBC) totally punked out when it came to defending his man:

And finally, it seems that B. Hussein has two daddies. I thought homosexuality was off limits for Muslims... ;)

The Palin Pick : Five Days Later

With "Troopergate" (does anyone really care?), her daughter's teen pregnancy (how many families in America can relate?) and even some staunch Conservatives throwing Palin to the wolves:

"...McCain did not want Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential pick. He wanted Joe Lieberman. And as insane as it sounds, even Joe Lieberman would have been a better choice than Sarah Palin. He would have been stronger on national defense. He would have been stronger on fighting Islamofascism. And for all his far-left views, he taught his daughter well enough so that she didn’t get pregnant as a teenager. But the Republican puppet masters gave Sarah Palin the nod instead..." (Michael Savage)

...What are you thinking now. Are you as excited as you were Friday? Do you still think Palin was a good pick and this firestorm in the MSM is indicative of that fact?

Personally, I think the negative press Palin is getting lacks any substance at all. None of it detracts from her accomplishments. And for Michael Savage (who is so right wing he makes me look liberal) to imply he would have been happier had Lieberman been the choice is laughable. I admire Lieberman and he's definitely my second favorite Democrat (Zel Miller still tops the list), but Veep to an already middle-of-the-road candidate?

So, are you still secure with McCain's pick or are you beginning to vacillate?

Puff Daddy P. Diddy Diddy So-Rock Obama

In case you missed P. Diddy's reaction to McCain's VP pick:

"This is a message to John McCain. My name is Diddy. You may know me by my government name which is Sean Combs, but my friends now me as a Diddy, a.k.a. So-Rock Obama.

"I had to check in with you to tell you are bugging the f**k out. I don't even understand what planet you are on right now. This is the job to be the leader of the free world. No disrespect, I love you, I want you to live to be 110, but things happen. What happened if god forbid, you became president. You got a running mate from Alaska? Come on man. I don't even know if there are any black people in Alaska. Come on!

"Sarah you need to be down with the whole cabinet. You are not ready to be no vice president. What is the reality in Alaska? There isn't even any crackheads in Alaska. There isn't any black people, no crime. There isn't even any foreign policies in Alaska. You need to get versed on black policies. We are the future." (source)

Because, ya know, Sean Puffy Combs is so very influential to the MTV -under 18 and too young to vote crowd... And making the band is such an insightful program. Maybe instead of offering unsolicited advice to Senator McCain, he should be taking some time to figure out how he'll explain past arrests for gun charges and bribery to his six kids and their various baby mommas...

Here is a better rebuttal than I could have offered:
("There are as many black people in Alaska as there were white people in Jeremiah Wright's church" Amen!)

Thanks to a tip at 7:29 am from my dad and HOURS of waiting out in the beating sun...we did get to meet Senator McCain. No one else was asking for pictures, but I think he knew better than to say no to very, very pregnant woman that had been standing there to see him for hours:

Local politician Matt Taubenberger was kind enough to take the picture for us!

On a Mission... meet McCain today.

Best of BS: Happy Non-Labor Day!

*Originally posted on September 5, 2005*

Yes, we at the House of Sage have decided to change the holiday...

Instead of celebrating Unions (should we have a Jimmy Hoffa day while we're at it?), we are celebrating all the industrious men and women that are smart enough to advocate for themselves. All those that don't need to pay someone to get them raises and vacation. Those who are intelligent and independent and don't take 45 15-minute breaks a day. Those that stay until a job is finished (even if it's after 3pm) and don't leave little old ladies in South Philly without any heat in the middle of winter. Those who take initiative and never utter the phase, "that's not part of my job".

These are the ones that we choose to thank for the success of American growth and business on this day. Those that do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay...with no societal drain or political considerations.

*Addition: Just wanted to give a link to Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. --and association for non-union workers that many of my close friends are involved with.
