The Police & Elvis

The Police & Elvis Costello

Last summer The Man and I bought tickets to see The Police. Sting got the flu and it was postponed...until last night.

There are some shows where the artist sounds SO different 'in real life' and you know they use tons of studio production to sound they way they do on their albums (Madonna). Then there are some bands that sound WAY better live and you wonder why they can't capture that energy in the studio (Metallica). Then there are the few and far between bands that sound EXACTLY the same as they do on their recordings. That was The Police last night. Sting's voice gave me chills. Hearing 'Message in a Bottle', 'Roxanne', 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic', 'Don't stand so Close to Me', and 'Can't Stand Losin' You' was phenomenal. It was very cool that Sting made penance for the year delay by procuring Elvis Costello to open --he even came on stage and they did Allison together.

There was no mention of politics...just great music by a band that has been staple through most of my life. Just as it should be.

...And I managed a few pictures without getting my camera confiscated this time :)
