Political Sidebar

  • Did anyone notice a common theme in the Dem debate here in Philly on Wednesday night? George W. Bush. I wish I would have counted how many times his name was envoked by both candidates. Newsflash: Bush isn't running again. Are they running on their own convictions and ideas --or are they running on 'hate Bush'? It rather diminishes a woman and a half-Black man running for president if they only feel they can win (or were only able to run) because there is so much hatred for the current administration...

  • One of MANY Obama commercials running ad nauseum here in Pennsylvania features Barry himself saying ["My mom was just 53 when she died of cancer. In her last days she was more worried about how her bills would get paid than she was about getting better."] Can someone look into this please? If Obama's mom had health insurance (which I'm quite sure she did) that would mean that this commercial was purely exploiting his mother's early death to further his agenda. I'd like to know if that is the case...

  • Last, but certainly not least, McCain steps up with a gas-relief proposal that could actually work... I mean, not to diminish Obama's claim that he'll "tell them to lower oil prices" or anything. McCain wants all gas taxes suspended from Memorial Day to Labor Day and a stoppage on adding to the federal reserve during that time. Apparently Hillary and Barack can bellyache and point fingers over the economy, but McCain seems to realize that if prices are actually lower, more people will travel/spend money this summer. It's so nice to FINALLY hear an actual, workable proposal in this election cycle.
