"A Person's A Person, No Matter How Small"

The fight over abortion is not about a 'woman's right to choose' --it lost that title as soon as professionals admitted that the 'fetus' was indeed a baby and felt pain. That used to be a debate, but now that there is no denying the video showing 'fetuses' as young as 6 weeks pulling away from the suction...the tune changed to 'it's still a mother's choice'. People have asked how I can be so Libertarian about most things (government hands off), but be against abortion. Easy, you can do whatever you want with YOUR body. OD, take 200 sleeping pills, shoot dope, smoke dope, marry any sex you want, change your sex if you like...I don't care. It's when you do something to someone else's body that I have a problem.

What the 'right to chose' people don't seem to get is this fight is (and always has been) about the almighty dollar. Abortion is an industry --and although a distasteful one, it makes the ones providing the 'service' very, very rich. I guess you could compare it to the evil tobacco industry, but smokers are only killing themselves.

"...Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the country's largest abortion business, garnered more than $1 billion in income for the first time in history last year.

Planned Parenthood jumped from making $972 million in 2005-06 to $1.017 billion in the 2006-07 fiscal year, according to its recently released annual report. Of last year's revenue, $336.7 million, or about one-third, came in government grants and contracts.

Planned Parenthood's abortion figures also increased markedly from calendar year 2005 to 2006, according to the report. The number of abortions provided by Planned Parenthood affiliates grew to 289,750 from 264,943..." (source)

"...just this week it was revealed that Planned Parenthood, the nation’s most prominent abortion provider, received an astounding $336 million in government (both federal and state) grants. But get this: Planned Parenthood took in more than $1 billion last fiscal year, according to its own annual report, for the first time in its history.

It is apparent that there is big money to be made in abortion.

According to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s annual report (2006-07), the organization conducted 289,570 abortions, an increase of almost 25,000 abortions over the previous year..." (source)

A few years ago, I had a fertility specialist tell me that many of his colleagues used to be abortion docs but has since switched to fertility because they realized there was more money in it. An amazing statement when you think about it --more money in creating life than destroying it...
