Fuzzy Wuzzee?

Conservatives and Republicans have been saying for a year that Obama is an empty shirt. So he can give a nice speech, big deal. What has he actually said? What does he actually stand for? What specific legislation will he pursue?

No one knows, perhaps not even Obama.

Obama’s fuzziness may certainly be at least partly strategic—an attempt to be, if not all things to all people, then at least as many things to as many people as possible. This trait is hardly unusual in politicians. But Obama takes it to an extreme degree, and over time it is starting to hurt him. It is such a consistent characterisitc of his, across so many areas, that one can conclude (as I have) that it is part of his personality on a very deep level, and not just a political ploy.

Slightly different topic, but this is great. The surveyors showed a group of 440 people this pro-Obama video by the "Obama Girl." Watch how the negatives get bigger as the video goes on. The sharpest drops are among women when the Obama Girl shows the most skin: when she's on the bed and on the couch.

Obama Refers to Babies as a 'Punishment'

I wasn't going to post about this. I never want to hype up a slip of the tongue or take something out of context to create scandal the way the other side does. But, I have been trying to understand how Obama can call himself a Christian and vote on behalf of partial-birth abortion (the same way I've always wondered about Jimmy Carter). I decided to post about this...not as the "look at the shocking thing Obama said..I'm outraged", but more in a trying to understand his mind kinda thing.

During a speech here in Pennsylvania and defending his stance against abstinence only education:

“Look, I got[sic] two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old,” he said. “I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” (Source)

I might refer to the loss of youth and freedom a punishment, but would never refer to the infant itself that way. I guess that's the fundamental difference between he and I.

There was something comforting about thinking that Matt Maupin might still be alive. A glimmer of hope for his family, friends and for all of us.

"...Keith Maupin confirmed this afternoon that the remains of his son, Matt Maupin, have been identified by the army in Iraq.

In a statement Keith said "We are proud of the continued efforts of the military and the army to return Matt to us. We must now work on efforts to return Matt.'

"Please keep the military and our family in your prayers."
Carolyn Maupin, Matt's mother said, "Thanks to everyone for their prayers and continued strength of the family."

"It hurts after four years of hope and this is what happens it is like a let down for me and I'm trying to get thru that right now."

"Pray. This is going to be very difficult and stay by our side in support."

Keith says that the family was informed this afternoon about 1p-m by a three star general. The body was identified by the D-N-A remains. (source)

I didn't know Matt...but reading this story last night affected me as if I had.

On a Personal Note...

I'm not sure what it is about election cycles, but back in 2004 The Man and I decided to try and have another baby. I've posted here before about the fact that I have PCOS and that we had to go the fertility route to conceive our first son. The second must have just happened because of a perfect storm of hormones and nursing from the first one. So, in 2004...nothing. Two doctors, my OBGYN and a reproductive endocrinologist, informed me that I was no longer ovulating and that if we wanted any more children we'd have to resort to fertility meds/treatments again, but there was still no guarantee.

Anyway, things with the business and life in general took precedence and we decided that we were content with the two little guys we had. It felt strange making a decision I knew I'd regret later --I guess being from a big family I felt guilty robbing my boys of that. The little one used to say to me, "Mom, let me get this straight. You have three brothers and one sister and I only have ONE brother. How is that fair?"

The Man really didn't want any more though and I didn't really want to do the fertility thing again -multiples run in my family and fertility treatment and my age would amp up the chances of that. Then, a few months ago and in a shocking twist...The Man did an about face and wanted another one. Even though I'd been bugging him to want one, the reality of what that entailed was pretty scary. I knew it probably couldn't happen, but I was happy just with the thought.

The more I thought about it I knew that I had to tell him 'no.' I couldn't do the fertility crap again, I am way too old and our boys are already 7 and 9. I fell asleep one night in January resolved to tell him there would be no little girl for him to spoil...that I just couldn't do it. That if in 7 years since the last one was born it hadn't happened...then it obviously wasn't meant to be (we hadn't "used anything" in all those years).

I kept putting off telling him because I was feeling really crappy. I was achy and I kept falling asleep on the couch -something I never do. Finally my sister convinced (nagged really) me to buy a test. It was such a ridiculous waste of $13. Seven years of unprotected sex. Two doctors confirming my infertile status. My recent decision that I was more than content with my two boys. The chances of me being pregnant were so very improbable.

I bought the test that gives you the Plus sign if you are. I couldn't look and wrapped it in about a half of roll of TP, sat it on the counter and called The Man.

"You really didn't look?"
"No, I can't."
He unwraps the test.
"Well, I don't know what the hell I'm looking at. What does an 'X' mean?"
"A plus?"
"Yeah, I guess."
"It means that we are going to have a kid that's going into kindergarten when the other two are going into 7th and 9th grade."

So here we are... just past the first trimester hurdle and still in complete and total shock.

From The Blogroll: Things You Shouldn't Miss

  • If you haven't seen Geert Wilders’ 15 minute film "Fitna", you might have trouble finding it online now. Little Green Footballs posted that "" (Where I saw it) has removed the film because of death threats. Not surprisingly, the European Union has condemed the film. And some kooky lefties in the Netherlands are apologizing for the film. I'm not sure how you denounce and apologize for a film that has no OpEd content in it and is ONLY clips of actual events, speeches of Muslim clerics and verses from the Qu'ran, but hey...that's the new PC world in which we dwell.

Pat Dollard won't cave and has the movie over at his site where it will stay.

  • Dana at Common Sense Political Thought has a post and video highlighting the 'peaceful nature' of this country's peace advocates. We've all seen Zombie's photos and videos depicting the violent acts committed by the 'War is not the Answer' crowd (I still want to know what the question was!), but this story makes it a bit more personal. ...The woman assaulted was Philly Blogger Skye of Midnight Blue. There's more on the story here. The 'man' that assaulted Skye is "John Meicht , a college professor who taught a course at Widener University last spring."

  • I think it's been obvious from the amount of times I've posted about him...but I just LOVE David Bellavia (author of the amazing book: House to House)
AFSis has a post up with clips of David's speeches from the Vets for Freedom tour. It seems that David has decided to go up against a Iraq Veterans Against the War candidate for a Congress seat.
"Mr. Bellavia is the recipient of both the Silver and Bronze Stars, and the Conspicuous Service Cross, New York State 's highest award for combat valor. He also has been nominated for The Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions in a fierce, urban, hand-to-hand fight in the battle of Fallujah in November 2004."
I just wish I was in NY so I could vote for him! Go check out some of those speeches!

  • Honest Partisan admits that he is biased (in favor of Obama), but thinks his "Race and Religion" speech was a home run. Really? He says that the argument that he was "excusing the inexcusable" was a Conservative attack, but I wonder if that speech would have been good enough if McCain's pastor and mentor had given the same speeches. Somehow I doubt it. I loved watching Obama stumble over Elisabeth Hasselbeck's softball questions on The View yesterday...

  • You can go over to Support Your Local Gunfighter and see what your blog's "Cuss Level" is. Luckily comments don't factor in or I'd be in trouble! ;)
My results: "Around 3% of the pages on your website contain cussing. This is 67% LESS than other websites who took this test."
See, 12 years of Christian school paid off!

  • This isn't "from the blogroll", but I thought it was a great story.

Is This Serious Enough For You?!

"...Three new general election surveys on Thursday showed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) again losing against his two rivals for the presidency. Match-ups between the Republican nominee and either Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) or Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) have resulted in stalemates in recent weeks. Also significant is that Obama is once again coming out ahead of Clinton in surveys against McCain.

The Public Policy Institute of California said McCain would lose to Obama, 40 to 49 percent, and would also lose to Clinton, with 43 to 46 percent. However, the fact that voters may find Obama to be a stronger candidate against McCain than Clinton, could have an effect on those Democrats who have yet to vote in the primary, as well as undecided superdelegates.

The Republican nominee likewise loses to both Democrats in a Pew Research survey taken between March 19 and March 22. The poll found McCain was defeated by Obama 43 to 49 percent and by Clinton 44 to 49 percent..."

Still planning a protest vote against McCain? Brilliant plan.

    Mumia Won't Fry

"...A federal appeals court today refused to reinstate the death sentence of world-famous death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal, but left intact his murder conviction in the 1981 shooting death of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled that Abu-Jamal must be sentenced to life in prison or get a chance with a new Philadelphia jury, which would decide only whether he should get life in prison or be sentenced - again - to death.

The judges left intact his first-degree murder conviction, rejecting Abu-Jamal's claim that he deserves an entirely new trial and a chance to prove his innocence..." (source)

I know this is a world-wide known case and Mumia has become a Cause-Celeb in many countries, but I'm not sure people that aren't here in Philly realize how personal it seems to us. We have been living with this case and its implications for over 20 years. It's been talked about for as long as I can remember...literally.

"... Other Abu-Jamal supporters were unhappy with the ruling. They said rallies were being planned for as early as tomorrow outside federal courthouses in Philadelphia, New York and San Francisco.

"This was no victory, in any sense of the word," said Pam Africa, a member of the radical group MOVE.

"Today's decision is a travesty of justice," said Jeff Mackler, of Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal. He said he had been hoping that the Third Circuit would order an entirely new trial based on the claim about racial discrimination in jury selection.

Mackler said he anticipates worldwide reaction to the disappointing decision. "Tomorrow is just an initial reaction," he said.

An appeal is virtually certain." (source)
"...Jamal's supporters claim that prosecutor Joe McGill and Judge Albert Sabo conspired to "racially stack" the jury that convicted Jamal, in violation of his civil rights. Some supporters have gone so far as to claim that there was only one black juror at Jamal's original trial in 1982; others have said there were none. It is alleged that this "racially stacked" jury disregarded all the evidence and found Jamal guilty simply because he was black.

In his book "Race For Justice", Leonard Weinglass states, "During the course of the jury selection, the prosecution used eleven of fifteen peremptory challenges to excuse nearly 75 percent of the eligible black jurors." In his public presentations, Weinglass claims that the sole reason for the dismissal of these prospective jurors was the fact that they were black.

Jamal's lawyers also argue that his absence from an "in chambers conference," in which the Judge, the prosecutor, and Jamal's trial attorney (a black man) discussed and agreed upon the removal of a black juror who had violated sequestration, was a pretext to remove her because of her race...." (source)

I'd be satisfied with life without the possibility of parole if Mumia wasn't enjoying celebrity status, publishing books and doing radio interviews...

American Flags are a "Visual Blight"?

"...State Road 7 in Hollywood is one patriotic corridor.

From small tire shops to major car dealerships, it seems nearly every business on the busy roadway has its own sizable supply of Stars and Stripes flapping away.

City commissioners are considering regulating the mass displays of American pride, calling it a visual blight. During a recent city meeting, Mayor Peter Bober called for a citywide limit on the number of flags allowed at a business, especially along State Road 7, also known as U.S. 441.

Bober and others say they want to reduce the numbers of flags in proportion to the geographical size of the business, although no parameters have been set.

While such a rule is only in the preliminary discussion phase, city officials said Friday that a draft has been drawn, modeled after other cities. No date has been set to debate it..." (source)

I wonder if lawmakers ever consider the media attention they're going to get when they concoct these invasive laws. Even a blame-America-first, flag loathing citizen has to be disgusted that this is what their tax money is funding... Right?

The Threat of the Nipple Ring...

You risk being sued by CAIR if you raise concerns about 12 men in Muslim garb acting strange in an airport...never mind the fact that 99% of terrorist acts over the past 20+ years have been carried out by Muslim men.

What we should really be concerned with are those evil body piercings because there's such a long, documented history of airline passengers being attacked with titanium nipple rings! Let the guy wearing a towel as a hat pass and hand the little texas girl some pliers to pry out her nefarious body jewelry!

"...A Texas woman who said she was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane called Thursday for an apology by federal security agents and a civil rights investigation.

``I wouldn't wish this experience upon anyone,'' Mandi Hamlin said at a news conference. ``My experience with TSA was a nightmare I had to endure. No one deserves to be treated this way.''

...She was taken behind a curtain and managed to remove one bar-shaped piercing but had trouble with the second, a ring.

``Still crying, she informed the TSA officer that she could not remove it without the help of pliers, and the officer gave a pair to her,'' said Hamlin's attorney, Gloria Allred, reading from a letter she sent Thursday to the director of the TSA's Office of Civil Rights and Liberties.

Hamlin said she heard male TSA agents snickering as she took out the ring. She was scanned again and was allowed to board even though she still was wearing a belly button ring." (Read the whole story)

I have only flown twice since 9/11...I have multiple body piercings and was not stopped and would have caused a far bigger fuss than this girl had I been.

    Guest Post by Free0352

*free0352 served many years in the USMC, worked for an international security company and is currently serving in the US Army.*

I noticed this article today from the AP. With Sunni militias in open cooperation with Coalition Forces, and Al’Queda on the run the eyes of Iraqi and U.S. forces are turning now to our old enemy Muqtada Al’Sader.

A bit of background. After the evasion Al’Sader became the leader of the Jaish Al’Mhadi- the largest Shia militia in Iraq and heavily supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran. In 2004 after a reign of terror and rebellion U.S. Marines had Sader and the leadership of his militia cornered at the Imam Ali Mosque in the southern Iraqi city of Najaf. There, we allowed him to negotiate a peace that required him and his militia to lay down their weapons. To date, Jasih Al’Mhadi (Mhadi Army) remains the single largest army in Iraq besides that of the Iraqi government and the United States and Coalition Forces in flagrant violation of that agreement. Instead he is responsible for thousands of terrorist attacks, dead American Service People, and the flood of weapons into Iraq from Iran. It is also a strong player in the sectarian violence that ravaged Iraq from 2004 until a few months ago.

Sader’s agents during the 2005 election boycotted by the Sunni element in Iraq ran for offices throughout Iraq and nearly all of them won. Sader’s sleeper agents currently work to destabilize the Iraqi government from within, as members of the Iraqi parliament. At one time Al’Sader counted Iraqi President Al’Maliki as one of his stooges, but once the surge was put forth Al’Maliki switched sides and began to cooperate with the United States’ goals. Al’Sader’s corrupt politicians are the leading cause of friction with the Iraqi government, as they have a vested interest in seeing it fail.

Sader is also the one thought primarily responsible for smuggling Explosive Force Penitraitor IEDs from Iran into Iraq and distributing them to his militia men. EFPs are effective at destroying American armored vehicles and have killed hundreds of US soldiers and Marines.

At the beginning of “the surge” Al’Sader fled to Iran where he remained for many months. He at that time ordered his militia to observe a cease fire, and recently ordered it extended through August. Like his many lies in the past, it appears from recent reports that Al’Sader is ignoring his cease fire and we’re fighting again. Or on the bright side, his militia has fragmented and he is no longer in control. Time will tell on that one.

I now brace for the liberals to again cry that the surge has failed and the war has been lost all along.

It is now time for our forces to take on the Jaish Al’Mhadi and it was heartening to hear in the above article that Iraqi forces are taking the fight to Muqtada. There was a time I thought I’d never see such a thing. Many Shia are fanatically loyal to him, and the Iraqi Army is mostly Shia. I’m glad that the Iraqi Army seems ready to march into the heart of Basra, a Sader stronghold, and take them on directly. I’m sure we will be aiding them in that mission, and I’m sure we will accomplish it.

It should be noted however, that Basra was part of the British occupation zone and that the Mhadi Army waited for the British to withdraw before beginning its shinanagans anew. You are seeing a Mhadi Army exploitation of the power gap and a test of the resolve of the Iraqi forces. You will see more and more of this as responsibility for security falls to the Iraqis and US forces take on a more supporting role.

I can only imagine what an Iraq with Al’Sader (and Iranian puppet) as Islamist Dictator would look like, as he and his faction would certainly be most likely to take over were US forces to leave too soon. What I imagine isn’t very good. It’s a cloud with no silver lining. Let this lesson be a window into a possible future if US forces are forced to withdraw before completion of their mission by the politicians back home. Though the Iraqis are getting better, they aren’t yet ready. I think its time for liberals to ask themselves what Iraq will look like if the policy of Obama or Clinton comes to pass. Do they really think American interest or our allies can withstand more Iranian influence within the Middle East, especially a hyper violent proxy state run by a known terrorist who has killed more Americans than Osama Bin Ladin?

Iraq is not yet won, but with the support of the American people we can defeat this old enemy and continue our forward progress. Conservatives! Don’t let anyone discourage you with this news, as it is actually a really good sign that the Iraqis are taking the lead here. Its also good news that maybe finally we can get this motherfucker Al’Sader and put his body in a bag!

    Story of the Week

"...A state correction officer who was collecting workers' compensation because of a back injury has been suspended from his job and arrested after news photographers captured him competing in a radio-sponsored 40-yard dash in high heels.

Workers' compensation fraud is a felony, and Dalton faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Dalton was out of work after injuring his back on June 11, 2007, while lifting a box of toilet paper
and soap at the New Haven Correctional Center.

In the contest, he ran a 40-yard dash in a woman's dress and high heels in hopes of winning tickets to a Hannah Montana concert. (source)

I don't even know what I could add to this story... My uncle was a P.I. that investigated insurance/worker's comp/SSI fraud. I used to go with him on stakeouts in public places (bowling alleys, amusement parks) to keep him from looking too obvious. None of the cases we were watching were ever this amusing...

    Now It's Personal!

"...Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago where Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has been a member for two decades, slurred Italians in a piece published in the most recent issue of Trumpet Newsmagazine.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright writes of Jesus' enemies: "(Jesus') enemies had their opinion about Him," Wright wrote in a eulogy of the late scholar Asa Hilliard in the November/December 2007 issue. "The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans."

Wright continued, "From the circumstances surrounding Jesus' birth (in a barn in a township that was under the Apartheid Roman government that said his daddy had to be in), up to and including the circumstances surrounding Jesus' death on a cross, a Roman cross, public lynching Italian style." (source)

First off, if I recall the story correctly it was the Pharisees that were threatened by Jesus and demanded his death...they were not Italian.

Of course I'm actually not mad about this because I'm not three years old and I guess I took the whole "sticks and stones" rhyme to heart when I was little. 'Pastor' Wright is a bigoted fool and I just hope that his very existence brings to light to a certain element of our population that no one has wanted to talk about in the past... racism lives and breathes in the country not exclusively because of white racists, but because of many Black leaders that revel in victim hood.

A Rare moment of Media Honesty

A little while ago I wrote a number of articles that drew a correlation between the media coverage of liberals who call our soldiers Nazis while insisting we have lost the war and the spike in battlefield deaths. It is an odd coincidence how spikes in violence inevitably always follow in the wake of MSNBC and CNN blasting anti-war sound bites from the highest mountain. Anybody with common sense would conclude that the two were related. Of course for the lefties the two things they don’t take much pride in is common sense or personal hygiene, so the whole topic just made them feel bad; how dare we question the patriotism of someone carrying a “Fu*k the Troops” banner or a person who has tattooed the face of Ché Guevara just above their tramp stamp. Well even those who still believe that Hillary was dodging sniper fire in Bosnia couldn’t keep a straight face over the connection between negative liberal coverage of the war, and troop deaths. One of the lefty news outlets finally cracked.

US News and World Report has published an article about two Harvard economists who have concluded a study that came to the same conclusions that correct thinking people had years ago; anti-military and anti-America statement in the media are a source of encouragement for the enemy. Of course neither US News or Harvard have the courage to call a spade a spade. They refer to dishonest, misleading, and treasonous statements made in the media regarding our military as simply "antiresolve" statements.

As long as they are taking these baby steps toward honest reporting, perhaps we can next get them to include the party affiliation of “Democrat” when doing stories about Jim McGreevey, Elliot Spitzer, or Detroit’s Kwame Kilpatrick.

    Semper Fi Hillary?

Let me start by saying that neither of the things I am about to post about are even half as bad as Obama's complicit Anti-American church membership --though I know the media is dying to use them to take the heat off their golden boy...

Amidst all the hoopla over Hillary claiming she came under hostile fire in Bosnia:

"...In a March 17 speech in Washington, Clinton said of the Bosnia trip: "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.

The Obama campaign fueled the Bosnia brouhaha Tuesday, sponsoring a conference call with Pennsylvania reporters that featured retired Maj. Gen. Walter Stewart of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Stewart said he was assigned to the Army's European headquarters when Clinton visited Bosnia as first lady in 1996. He said her claim that she landed under enemy fire insulted U.S. soldiers charged with her security..." (source)

Reporters are now scouring Clinton's past speeches for other embellishments to embarrass her with and further relieve Obama of his current scrutiny. I hate to play along, but i found this one just too good to ignore:

"... One that may get renewed scrutiny is a story she told “Women in Military Service” in 1994 -- that shortly after the end of the Vietnam war, she looked into joining the Marines.

In June 1994, Clinton told an organization trying to build a memorial for women who had served in the armed forces, that while living in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 1975, “I decided that I was very interested in having some experience in serving in some capacity in the military. So I walked into our local recruiting office...”

At the time Clinton told the story, the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd seemed to wonder about it, pointing out that Hillary and Bill Clinton were married on Oct. 11, 1975 in Fayetteville.

“So, if she was talking to a Marine recruiter in 1975 before the marriage, was she briefly considering joining the few, the proud and the brave of the corps as an alternative to life with Mr. Clinton, who was already being widely touted as a sure thing for Arkansas Attorney General?" (source)

    No Veterans Allowed...

"...A national tour featuring decorated veterans [Veterans for Freedom] from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan won't be stopping at Forest Lake Area High School [Forest Lake, MN] today as planned, after school leaders abruptly canceled the visit.

Steve Massey, the school principal, said the decision to cancel was prompted by concerns that the event was becoming political rather than educational and therefore was not suitable for a public school.

He said the school had received several phone calls from parents and others, some of whom indicated that they may stage a protest if the event took place." (Read the entire story)

I find it amusing that many on the Left will say that the GOP doesn't own God...and that the GOP doesn't own the Flag...and that the GOP isn't exclusive in supporting the troops. Then they turn around and ban God from everything (as they welcome Mohammad), they burn the flag and mock those that cherish it and they protest the military and belittle the service...

    Good Judges

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of talking about Obama (and there's really nothing else in the news right now) I'm going to talk about my new TV addiction. Judge shows.

Judge Joe brown is my favorite, but I also like Judge Alex, Judge Judy, Judge Hatchett and Judge Toler. So of course I like the seedy "who's your baby daddy?" DNA episodes...I'm not gonna lie, they appeal to my basest morbid curiosity. Especially when there's more than one guy that could be the dad an it ends up being none of them... terrible I know, but I'm like a deer in headlights.

But as I'm watching, I can't help but think that if these judges made up SCOTUS, the country might be a better place. Judge Joe Brown especially. I love when he goes off on people for having pit bulls when they have kids, or when he reminds the welfare recipients that they aren't paying for anything...the taxpayers are. He's a refreshing change to most of the judges we read about in the news these days. Actually, now that I think about it...Judge Joe Brown for VP! :)

    Obama & Special Interests

There is a Barack ad here in Pennsylvania that is running on TV every 6.3 seconds...well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it feels that way. The entire ad touts Obama's refusal to accept money from special interest groups and him proclaiming special interest will have no hand in his presidency because he won't owe them anything. I knew I had read that NOW/NARAL was a contributor to his Senate campaign (definitely a 'special interest'), so I thought I'd check the facts on that commercial... (The ad linked is not the exact ad, but similar).

"...Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has pledged to create a new brand of politics in the Democratic presidential primary by rejecting contributions from lobbyists and political action committees (PAC), but his fundraising records show that he relies on donors with special interests.

Three of Obama’s top fundraisers, who each have raised more than $50,000 for his campaign since January, were registered as lobbyists last year, according to reports filed with the Senate Office of Public Records.

While several of Obama’s fundraisers have recent experience working as lobbyists, at least 10 other big fundraisers hold senior positions in companies that have lobbyists under contract or employed lobbyists in the last few years, according to public records.

David Heller and Bruce Heyman are big Obama fundraisers and managing directors at Goldman Sachs. Last year, Goldman Sachs spent $3.3 million on lobbying. The company hired firms such as DLA Piper, Rich Feuer Group, and the Duberstein Group to influence lawmakers.

James Dinan, the founder and CEO of York Capital Management, is another Obama bundler. His company hired Dutko Worldwide to lobby on asbestos issues in 2005 and 2006.

Other Obama fundraisers work for companies that have hired lobbyists to work on issues of the jurisdiction of Senate committees on which Obama sits..." (source)

I couldn't find anything regarding Obama + lobbyist on, but his page on Follow the Money looks to contradict this ad also...carps union, teachers union, lawyers' lobby, etc.

    Shame on the McCain Campaign...

...for suspending the aid that was circulating this video. A video that potential voters should see. If McCain's campaign is too scared to use this against Obama because it deals with the ever-so-touchy issue of race -they need to find new professions...

    Internet Addiction...

"...As more people leave the office computer, only to log on as soon as they get home, the American Journal of Psychiatry has found addiction to text messaging and emailing could be another form of mental illness.

The article, by Dr Jerald Block, said there were four symptoms: suffering from feelings of withdrawal when a computer cannot be accessed; an increased need for better equipment; need for more time to use it; and experiencing the negative repercussions of their addiction.

Dr Block said that although text messaging was not directly linked to the Internet, it was a form of instant messaging and needed to be included among the criteria. .." (source)

I totally had this problem the first year I was Blogging. I had to set some serious restrictions on myself when I realized it was getting out of hand. This is why I don't text or have any chat software on my computer to this day. It's just more 'fake' stuff to keep me from my 'real' life. The computer has made it so easy to 'escape' from our everyday lives and the problems and stresses associated with that, but I feel that a few years down the line when people look back they'll begrudge time they spent virtually that could have been productive reality.

Obama: Secret Smoker and Secret Marxist?

Obama's just been the gift that keeps on giving lately, but it's not just political 'fun.' This is man who is a virtual unknown that wants to be the leader of the free world. All this vetting is serious business and needs to be done before it's too late.

Obviously I could care less if Obama is a closet smoker (unless of course he starts extolling the benefits of nationwide smoking bans). We all (half)-joke about Hillary and Obama's socialist leanings, but if there was an actual Communist ideology...that would be a HUGE problem for this country (unbeknownst to thousands of 20-somethings).

"...In his books, Obama admits attending “socialist conferences” and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a “hard-core academic Marxist,” which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his “poetry” and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just “Frank.”

The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What’s more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations..." (source)

Though I find this much more disturbing than Obama's 'former' "hate White America" pastor, there was one more thing I wanted to say about that. During Obama's "Race $ Religion" speech here in Philadelphia he said this (paraphrased):

["Just as I am sure that all of you have sat in the pew and listened to your pastor make political remarks that you didn't agree with"]

Church was a mandatory part of my life before I moved out of my parent's I've sat through more sermons than I could ever count. I can honestly say I've never heard a pastor wax political. Their sermons were about Bible passages and messages. Obama might assume (considering he attended this radical church for 20 years) that all pastors are engaging in the same bully-pulpit tactics, but he would be wrong...most pastors are preaching what they're trained in...theology, not politics.

    Hillary's Latest Flip-Flop

When Bush was running for President the Left lamented that he "didn't have enough experience" (though he was a company owner and a two-term Governor) and that we couldn't have a President that needed to "learn on the job." All those concerns have gone right out the window with one-term Senator Barack Obama.

After Hillary won her Senate seat and George W. Bush won the presidency due to the electoral college, Hillary decried the decision and proposed the EC be done away with and the President be decided by the popular vote.

NOW, that Hillary has 219 EC votes and Obama only 202 the story changes. Now her campaign is suggesting that since the general election is decided with electoral college votes...why shouldn't the nominee in the primary be picked the same way...?

"The Clinton camp has argued that Mrs. Clinton’s having won the big states should be an important factor when considering her electability.

“Presidential elections are decided on electoral votes,” a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton, Howard Wolfson, said in an e-mail message.

But Mr. Wolfson said superdelegates would also be looking at the popular vote when determining which candidate to support.

Bill Burton, a spokesman for Mr. Obama, said that the idea of using the Electoral College as a metric was specious because the Democratic nominee, regardless of whom it was, would almost certainly win California and New York.

Many Democrats, including Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Bayh, have opposed the Electoral College in the past, particularly after 2000, when Florida’s 25 electoral votes were awarded to George W. Bush, who became president, even though Al Gore, the Democratic nominee, had won the popular vote nationwide.

At the time, Mrs. Clinton, who had just been elected to the Senate, said, “I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it’s time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president.” (source)

    Throw GrandMomma from the Train

"...I can no more disown [former Trinity United Church of Christ pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright] than I can my white grandmother -- a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe... Barack Obama, Philadelphia "Race & religion speech 3/19/08

"... .. The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it..." Barack Obama, Philadelphia radio WIP 3/20/08

I cringed when I heard Obama say this during his spin speech the other day. What a lovely grandson to basically tell the world that your Grandma that raised you dropped some n-bombs...and compare her to an America & White hating racist. Then I figured that she must have given him the go-ahead to throw her off the train to save himself...

And a "typical white person"!? Obama takes out right foot and inserts left. Geez. Can you imagine if McCain or Hillary would have said someone was a "typical Black person"? Sharpton & Jackson would have a million man march organized in 4.2 seconds.

But even HuffPo had the same reaction I did.

Newsbusters shares some insight straight from Obama's book and in his own (pre-candidate) words.

Someone emailed me yesterday to prompt me to admit that Obama was a great speaker with a bright future. I have never denied this. I told this person that as I watched this speech on race, the one that Obama refused to denounce reverend Wright but surely disrespected the "woman who loves [him] as much as she loves anything in this world", I found myself humming "making something out of no substance at all" (set to Air Supply).

Obama doesn't exemplify "CHANGE" for me...he elucidates the DOUBLE STANDARD I am fed up with.

    Obama's Passport "Breach"

"...The State Department says it is trying to determine whether three contract workers had a political motive for looking at Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's passport file.

Two of the employees were fired for the security breach and the third was disciplined but is still working, the department said Thursday night. It would not release the names of those who were fired and disciplined or the names of the two companies for which they worked. The department's inspector general is investigating.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said that for now it appears that nothing other than "imprudent curiosity" was involved in three separate breaches of the Illinois senator's personal information, "but we are taking steps to reassure ourselves that that is, in fact, the case." (source)

Here's my question... Wouldn't Obama's travels (especially considering he is a United States Senator) fall under the Freedom of Information Act? Are Congressmen supposed to have a high level of transparency? Why shouldn't Americans be privy to their excursions? These aren't rhetorical questions. I don't know if someone would be allowed to look up my passport records if they felt so inclined, but I would assume that would be a given if I was in a high-level government position.

    Guest Post by SoLow

Here's a little change of pace from all of the Obama-hates-white-people talk. ☺

I got pinched today – 72 in a 55. Guilty as charged (in fact, it was probably closer to 80). Admittedly, I didn’t buy a motorcycle due to my love of staying within the speed limit. However, it still prompted me to write the guest post that ALa has continually said that she would welcome.

Apparently 72 in a 55 will normally lighten your checkbook by $188 here. Not today... I was about 1/4 mile past one of those signs that notifies drivers of road work being done, and in the fine print below it mentions "Fines Double". There wasn't a "road worker" or a flagger in sight, nor was there a DOT truck, excavating equipment, flare, orange barrel, or even a cone in the road. Nonetheless, that kind officer felt the need to "enhance" my fine to $376. I'm going to court on this one, even though I'll probably lose & have to pay court costs on top of it. I would support this law in any situation where there actually were traffic flow changes (lane closures, etc), or where there were workers in the process of doing their jobs – obviously a dangerous situation for them. In this case, I do not agree with the enhancement, which leads me to another beef that I have with our lawmakers...

I believe that laws should be made to protect other people, and/or other peoples’ property. What I mean by that is that breaking & entering should be illegal, the same with assault, robbery, rape, murder, etc. I don’t believe our government should have the right to create laws that force me to protect myself. What am I getting at? Helmet laws for motorcyclists. (I could make the same points about seatbelt laws.) What harm am I doing to anyone, or their property, if I choose not to wear a helmet? ALa has a valid argument every time I bring this up, so I’ll say it for her – if I get into an accident when I’m not wearing a helmet, and if my injuries are such that I need medical treatment, and if I do not have sufficient medical insurance to cover the costs of that treatment then the taxpayers shouldn’t have to pick up the slack. Quite frankly, I agree. (That’s why I pay higher premiums which result in $250,000 worth of extra medical coverage in the event of a mishap.) However, look at it this way – if I get in the same accident, with a DOT approved helmet, then I could possibly devastate my body & keep my brain intact. What then? Would you make the argument that I shouldn’t have been riding a motorcycle at all? Or would you approve taxpayer money to cover my medical bills while I live in a quadriplegic state for the rest of my life? The topic here should be taxpayer liability instead of laws that take away my rights as an American. I guess what it comes down to is this – maybe a bit extreme, but still - should we outlaw skydiving due to the danger involved? Mountain climbing? (I hear the stories every year about climbers getting lost on Mt. Hood – and the Nat’l Guard goes looking for them every time... Who’s footing that bill???) Snowboarding / skiing? Outlaw anything that some politician deems to be reckless or risky?

I love my country. I’m probably amongst the most patriotic people here. But sometimes I really wonder about my government…

    Obama's New Racist Endorsement

Poor Obama, he just can't catch a break from the 'Kill Whitey' Club...

"...Just as Sen. Barack Obama sought to distance himself from controversial racial remarks made by his pastor, an anti-American government, anti-white and virulently anti-Semitic black supremacist party has endorsed the presidential candidate on Obama's own website.

"Obama will stir the 'Melting Pot' into a better 'Molten America,'" states an endorsement from the New Black Panther Party, or NBPP, which is a registered team member and blogger on Obama's "MyObama" campaign website.

The NBPP is a controversial black extremist party whose leaders are notorious for their racist statements and for leading anti-white activism.

Malik Zulu Shabazz, NBPP national chairman, who has given scores of speeches condemning "white men" and Jews, confirmed his organization's endorsement of Obama in an interview with WND today.

"I think the way Obama responded to the attack on him and the attempt to sabotage his campaign shows true leadership and character. He had a chance to denounce his pastor and he didn't fall for the bait. He stood up and addressed real issues of racial discord," stated Shabazz.

Shabazz boasted he met Obama last March when the politician attended the 42nd anniversary of the voting rights marches in Selma, Ala.

"I have nothing but respect for Obama and for his pastor," said Shabazz, referring to Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor of nearly 20 years..." (source)

If you are unfamiliar with the radical Black Muslim can catch up on many of his quotes over at the Anti-Defamation League's website.

By the time this campaign cycle is over, Obama's going to have to distance himself from and denounce everyone that supports him...

    Geno's Beats the PC Police

"...The owner of a famous cheesesteak shop did not discriminate when he posted signs telling customers "This is America: WHEN ORDERING 'PLEASE SPEAK ENGLISH,"' a three-member city panel ruled Wednesday.

In a 2-1 vote, the Commission on Human Relations panel found that the two signs at Geno's Steaks do not violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance. Shop owner Joe Vento posted them than two years ago because of concerns over immigration reform and the increasing number of people from the area who could not order in English." (source)

It hit me last night that each time I've posted about this, I may have failed to tell you a crucial part of the story... HOW you order a Philly cheesesteak. Everyone has probably seen the 'Soup Nazi' episode of Seinfeld and ordering a cheesesteak in Philly is very similar. There is no small talk. You go to the window and say "Whiz With" or "Whiz Without" (or in my case "American Without", 'cause I'm not a big cheese-whiz fan). That's it. Two words. (With or without refers to whether or not you want fried onions.)

Wonder What Obama's Church Thinks of Planned Parenthood?

I have heard many Black pastors lament about the amount of clinics providing abortions in low socio-economic African American neighborhoods. That doesn't seem to bother Barack. We know that Obama is very enough to be pro partial-birth abortion.

"Planned Parenthood of Idaho has apologized after an employee encouraged a telephone donation aimed at aborting black babies.

A fundraising employee violated the organization's principles and practices when she appeared to be willing to accept a racially motivated donation," Planned Parenthood of Idaho CEO Rebecca Poedy said in a written statement to the Statesman. "We apologize for the manner in which this offensive call was handled. We take full responsibility for the actions of the fundraising staff member who created the impression that racism of any form would be tolerated at Planned Parenthood.

According to a transcript released by The Advocate to the Statesman, an actor portraying a donor called Autumn Kersey, vice president of development and marketing for Planned Parenthood of Idaho, saying he wanted the money to be used to eliminate unborn black babies because "the less black kids out there the better."

Kersey responded: "Understandable, understandable. ... Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I've had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I'm excited and want to make sure I don't leave anything out." (source)

Wow. I had to read that a few times to make sure I was reading it right. But, I was encouraged to read another Planned Parenthood story yesterday:

"Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) is proposing an amendment to the appropriations bill that funds the Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services to prohibit federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

"I just think it's wrong that the largest abortion provider in America is the largest recipient of non-abortion funding under Title X," Pence told Cybercast News Service.

Title X is the "family planning" program run by HHS that funds birth control clinics." (source)

It's amazing to me that people squawk over church-related charities receiving government money, yet Planned parenthood (an organization that so many Americans are opposed to) benefits from an abundance of taxpayer dollars.

    Sex Offenders & Your Money

"...Across the nation, dozens of sexual predators have been taking higher education classes at taxpayer expense while confined by the courts to treatment centers. Critics say they are exploiting a loophole to receive Pell Grants, the nation's premier financial aid program for low-income students.

Prison inmates are ineligible for Pell Grants under a 1994 law. Students convicted of certain drug offenses are also ineligible. But sexual predators qualify once they are transferred from prison to treatment centers.

"This is the most insane waste of taxpayer money that I have seen in my eight years in Congress," said Rep. Ric Keller, R-Fla., who is pushing to stop the practice. "It is a national embarrassment that we are wasting taxpayer dollars for pedophiles and rapists to take college courses while hardworking young people from lower-class families are flipping hamburgers to pay for college."

Moreover, some institutions report that sex offenders are putting the financial aid to questionable uses by buying such things as clothes, a DVD player and music CDs - sometimes, after they have dropped out of school. Pell Grants can legally be put toward expenses that are education-related. But the unused portion of a grant is supposed to be repaid when someone withdraws from school..." (read the entire story)

I would much rather it be regular prison inmates, who have a shot at rehabilitation, getting the education than sex offenders who everyone knows will re-offend and will remain either predator or parasite.

I know it's a tall order, but if McCain can honestly clean up all these bulging government loopholes that siphon hundreds of thousands of dollars for nonsense...I might just be inclined to forgive all his past foibles.

    Obama Claims Ignorance

He didn't know his pastor was a racist. He didn't know his church of 20 years was located in the "United States of White America". This is all horrifying news to him, the innocent victim.

"...The mushrooming church scandal has taken the shine off the golden boy of politics, a two-decade regular at "unashamedly black" Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

With his phony defense, the Democrat front-runner has exposed himself as both a typical Beltway spinmeister and a hypocrite.

He's suddenly shocked — shocked! — that his black nationalist church would spew anti-American venom.

"I did not hear such incendiary language myself, personally," he insisted, "either in conversations with him or when I was in the pew."

"If I had been in church those days, I would have objected fiercely to them and I would have told him personally," he now claims.

Really? A reporter witnessed Obama nod his head in agreement during a July 22, 2007, sermon in which Wright trashed the "United States of White America."

Here's another whopper Obama tells concerning Wright: "He hasn't been my political adviser, he's been my pastor."

Yet it turns out Wright quietly had a formal role in Obama's campaign, and was only pushed out last week as a member of his spiritual advisory committee when the tapes hit the airwaves.

Spinning harder, Obama claimed Wright's remarks are not "reflective of the church." (Read this editorial)

I've been trying to get my brother (that voted for Obama in the NY primary) to read Obama's church's website for months. Not as spin, but because I found it to be really disturbing (not to mention a glaring double standard)-- I'm just glad to see it's finally being addressed in the MSM.

If you think this is spin or a shot in the dark ploy to knock Obama down a few notches...maybe you need to listen to a few of the "sermons".

I guess we'll all just have to wait with bated breath to see how Obama spins this today here in the City of Brotherly Love as he is forced to make a speech about race & religion. Salt1907 has a prediction post about what the speech will cover.

Hillary's Plans For Iraq & Her Halliburton Hypocrisy

"...Speaking this morning, Hillary hits Obama for not ruling out continuing to use armed private contractors in Iraq. She wants to ban such contractors.
She goes on to talk about how she'll go after the favorite Democratic bogeyman, the infamous "no-bid" contracts.

"There's been a lot of talk about earmarks in this town (and she hasn't released her lists; credit Obama for going that far) but no-bid contracts are ten times more costly than earmarks. When I introduced my legislation, I could not get, as of this moment, Senator McCain's support for that." (source)

Halliburton and Blackwater have become these very evil words associated with evil bushrovecheneyconservatives. I've talked about this in the past (and I know I'm preaching to the choir here for the most part) but it bears repeating that these no-bid contracts aren't unique to the Bush administration and are given to companies like Halliburton, not because of some crazy conspiracy, but because there are very few companies equipped and experienced enough to handle them. Case in point:

"...It is certainly true that during a two year period Halliburton’s revenue from Defense Department contracts doubled. However, that increase in revenue occurred from 1998 to 2000 - during the Clinton administration.

In 1998, Halliburton's total revenue was $14.5 billion, which included $284 million of Pentagon contracts. Two years later, Halliburton’s DoD contracts more than doubled.

Regarding the Iraq contracts, Halliburton was accused by Democrats of receiving special "no-bid" contracts because of Cheney’s influence. One advertisement by the Democrats charged, "Bush gave contracts to Halliburton instead of fighting corporate corruption." an organization which ascertains the validity of political campaign advertisements researched this accusation. According to FactCheck, "The Bush administration is doing a fair amount to fight corporate corruption, convicting or indicting executives of Enron, Arthur Andersen, Tyco International, Worldcom, Adelphia Communications Corporation, Credit Suisse First Boston, HealthSouth Corporation and others, including Martha Stewart. The Department of Justice says it has brought charges against 20 executives of Enron alone, and its Corporate Fraud Task Force says it has won convictions of more than 250 persons to date. Bush also signed the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation in 2002, imposing stringent new accounting rules in the wake of the Arthur Andersen scandal."

When checked the facts about allegations by Democrats that there was a scandal because of the "no-bid" contracts awarded to Halliburton they stated, "It is false to imply that Bush personally awarded a contract to Halliburton. The ‘no-bid contract’ in question is actually an extension of an earlier contract to support U.S. troops overseas that Halliburton won under open bidding. In fact, the notion that Halliburton benefited from any cronyism has been poo-poohed by a Harvard University professor, Steven Kelman, who was administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy in the Clinton administration. ‘One would be hard-pressed to discover anyone with a working knowledge of how federal contracts are awarded...who doesn't regard these allegations as being somewhere between highly improbable and utterly absurd,’ Kelman wrote in the Washington Post last November." (Read the entire article)

So, if we need to pull the troops from Iraq AND there will be no more private contractors allowed...where does that leave the Iraqis? ...I guess right where it left the Afghanis in 1989.

    The Guilted Into Green Racket

Anyone out there with kids knows that an umbrella stroller is normally around $20. Unless you're my sister and need yours to say JEEP (even though I'm the one with the JEEP and she has a Volvo), then you'll pay about $35.

Yesterday she, the aforementioned sister, called me to tell me about an ad in one of her Parenting magazines. It was for a 'green' umbrella stroller with a "be kind to the environment" header on the ad. The cost of being a global warming crusader you ask? $190!

So, the next logical question is how can one umbrella stroller be 'greener' than another one...$170 greener I might add. So I guess you use man power to push this one as opposed to my old $20 model that was jet fuel powered? This is really devolving into a sickness...and a very profitable one at that.

Speaking of global warming... I recently (and reluctantly) gave The Man my Grand Cherokee and and now a full-fledged SUV driver. I now drive a Ford Explorer V8 XLT. Bigger than I wanted, but what's a girl to do...I need the room and we got a great deal. The first thing I did was design my own bumper sticker at

    Pizzas of the World

I got my little ninja the Scholastic Book of Lists and have been enjoying it almost as much as he has.

Two of his favorites are the "Gross Food Eaten Around the World" and "What other Countries put on Pizza". I thought I'd share the Pizza list:

    Australia: Eggs
    Bahamas: Barbecue Chicken
    Brazil: Green Peas
    Chile: Mussels & Clams
    Columbia: Guava
    Costa Rica: Coconut
England: Tuna & Corn (My sis-in-law says this is big in Japan also)
    France: Fresh Cream
    Guatemala: Black Bean Sauce
    India: Pickled Ginger
    Japan: Squid, Mayonnaise and Potato
    Pakistan: Curry
    Russia: Red Herring

I highly recommend this book if you have Elementary School kids -the lists are endless from wars to misspelled words, kinds of poetry, presidents and prime numbers...

    Too Little Too Late...

After attending a church for 20 years and donating almost $23,000 in 2006 alone...does Obama think kicking his pastor off the campaign now will absolve him of all the anti-white, "America caused 9/11" bullshit?

"...Wright's sermons have included suggestions the U.S. brought the Sept. 11 attacks on itself and that the government had a role in spreading the AIDS virus in the black community. Obama said he sharply condemns such comments and that he never heard those kinds of sermons from Wright. He also said he doesn't plan to leave the church..." (Read the entire article)

Luckily for Obama, most Americans don't read or watch the they'll never even know about the Blame Whitey church.

    Litigious Illegals...

"...The family of a now-deceased illegal immigrant who said he was denied medical care for cancer can sue the federal government for damages, a federal judge ruled, calling the allegations "beyond cruel and unusual" punishment.

Francisco Castaneda, a Salvadoran immigrant, was denied a biopsy for a painful lesion for 11 months, despite the recommendation of several doctors, according to government records cited by a judge.

He was later diagnosed with penile cancer and died Feb. 26 at age 36.

Castaneda spent eight months in state prison after being convicted in 2005 of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. He then was transferred to immigration custody because he was in the United States illegally..." (source)

Not only here illegally, but here and selling drugs and already using hundreds of thousands on prison room and board and now the family can profit from this meth-head's offenses? I don't know how much more of this I can take before I become a close-the-border altogether person....

Pentagon Study & The MSM Spin

Nate was quick to send me an FYI yesterday entitled: "No link between Saddam and Al-Qaeda: Pentagon study" and these were the 'related articles' listed on that page:

  • No bin Laden link to Saddam? Shh!
Melbourne Herald Sun - 10 hours ago

  • Official US study denies Saddam had links with al-Qaida
    Guardian - 23 hours ago

  • Pentagon scraps plan to post report on Iraq, al-Qaeda
    USA Today - Mar 12, 2008

  • Funny though, if you read the actual report (which is in PDF form, so I can't copy & paste) you see that the first line in the "Executive Summary" says:

"The Iraqi perspective Project (IPP) review of captured Iraqi documents uncovered strong evidence that links the regime of Saddam Hussein to regional and global terrorism. Despite the incompatible long-term goal, many terrorist movements and Saddam found a common enemy in the United States."

The study does state that no "smoking gun" was found that directly links Saddam to al Qaeda, but there are qualifiers under that detailing relationships with radical Islamic groups.

This IPP study may not be what the Left needs to absolve their "Bush Lied, people Died" mantra...yet if they actually read the report they will see that it's much more than the headlines the MSM is using.

Evangelical Poll: Sponsored by Liberal Group

"...Poll data from the March 4 primary in Ohio show that more than four out of ten white evangelical Christians cast their vote for a Democratic candidate. According to the liberal groups that sponsored the poll, the data indicate that white evangelicals are interested in a broad range of issues and are shifting their voting behavior.

However, some conservative evangelical leaders dismissed the poll's findings as insignificant, and Christian Coalition founder Ralph Reed said the poll's methodology was flawed.

The exit poll -- funded by the liberal activist groups The Sojourners, the Center for American Progress Action Fund, and Faith in Public Life -- is based a telephone survey conducted by Zogby International on March 4. It revealed that 57 percent of Ohio's white Christian evangelical voters cast their ballots for Republican candidates while the remaining 43 percent voted for Democrats. " (source)

I guess someone should have told The Sojourners that many crossed the aisle to edge out Obama once McCain had the GOP nomination locked up at the behest of Rush Limbaugh). True Evangelicals would NEVER vote for a pro-choice me, these are the people I was raised around and the churches I went to. You can bring up welfare and poverty, but murder will trump those issues each and every time.

Could PA Go Red in 2008?

Most of the polls I have seen here in Pennsylvania have Senator John McCain polling ahead of both Obama and Hillary in a General Election match-up. Since we got completely robbed in having a say in the nominee, I'm excited to think I might actually be able to cast a vote that matters...

Pennsylvania has not voted Red since 1988...when (similar to now) they didn't really have a choice because Michael Dukakis was the DNC nominee. (PA was red for 1980 & 1984, but McCain is no Reagan).

For the first time in almost two decades, Conservatives might have a voice here in the Keystone State and I'm pretty damn excited about it.

    Cavity Fighting Candy?

Forget sugar-free lollipops, how about one that actually fights the bacteria that causes cavities?

As a parent that has spent WAY too much at the dentist already, the idea of cavity fighting candy sounds wonderful...especially when I watched the 'lab test' and saw the bacteria disintegrate when introduced to the active ingredient (which is all natural by the way) in the lollipops.

I wish these would have been around when mine were younger...

Anybody watching the Obama campaign can’t help but be amazed by what they are seeing. We have a completely inexperienced, inadequate candidate actively running on the idea that he is going to raise everyone’s taxes while promoting the fact that he is going to be a foreign relations disaster.
After saying he would bomb our ally, Pakistan, he stated he would legitimize leaders like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad by engaging in unconditional diplomacy. For those who have forgotten, Mahmoud is a person who not only has stated that Israel should be wiped off the map, but honestly believes himself to be the harbinger of Muslim doom for the western world at the hands of the 12th Imam.

Intelligent people should be concerned at Obama’s eagerness to drop a daisy cutter on countries who are helping us in the war on terror while offering to spoon with leaders of belligerent nations where the words “Death to America” are printed on everything from tea cozies to those big foam fingers people wave about at sporting events. Based on recent statements from both Barack and his fishwife, we know the Obamas are not proud of the a nation that has provided them with Ivy League educations, unbounded opportunity, and a legitimate shot at the American Dream of becoming President, but there should be limits on the number of naïve statements and outright stupid proposals that the word “hope” is allowed to cover like a media deodorant.

If the Democrats want to be intellectually honest and put forth a minority candidate who inspires legitimate hope in their voters, they should make Flavor Flav their nominee. Hey, any ex-con crack addict who can make millions of dollars while dozens of strippers fight for the right to treat him like a Bill Clinton Cohiba cigar should be a beacon of overachieving hope to the liberal core constituency of underachieving losers.

    More Friday Funnies

You gotta love this. I wish I lived in Washington so I could hound this asshole, too. Makes you wonder why the objective media doesn't ask some of these questions. I know it was 35 years ago, but this guy has never acknowledged his responsibility, has never apologized and keeps getting re-elected. Is there anyone out there who can explain that?

Opening slate: On January 31, 1971, John Kerry organized the “Winter Soldier Investigations,” a media event that falsely accused American soldiers of routinely raping, torturing, and murdering innocent Vietnamese civilians.

Second slate: From March 13-16, 2008, “Iraq Veterans Against the War” has coordinated a second Winter Soldier Investigations in an effort to assail the U.S. Military in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Third slate: On March 11, 2008, Jason Mattera of Young America’’s Foundation confronted Senator Kerry (D-MA) about Winter Soldier II and the Senator’’s shady past.

MATTERA: Hey, Sen. Kerry! Jason Mattera with Young America’s Foundation. How are you?

    KERRY: Jason. How are you?

MATTERA: I was wondering: Do you have any advice for the new group of activists who are organizing Winter Soldier II?

    KERRY: I haven’t [unintelligble] what they’re doing or where they’re at. I just don’t…

MATTERA: Do you think this crop of anti-war activists, do you there’ll be any frauds like Al Hubbard?

KERRY: I have no idea. I hope not.

MATTERA: Do you think that they will make slanderous accusations–accusing the troops of raping women, pillaging villaging, just like you did to the Fulbright committee?

KERRY: Uh, I didn’t make those.

    MATTERA: You didn’t?

Audio clip, John Kerry, 4/22/71: [They told the stories at times] they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

Kerry claims Winter Soldier Investigations were substantiated by further investigation.

MATTERA: Did you ever verify those

KERRY (crosstalk): I’ve been misquoted about that hundreds of times.

MATTERA: So you never substantiated those charges before you–

KERRY: I proposed–I gave them to the committee because I felt that they ought to be investigated and that’s exactly what I said. These are the–many of those charges, incidentally, were subsequently verified by different entities.

Slate: No criminal charges were filed as a result of any of the [Army’s Criminal Investigative Division] investigations into Winter Soldier., February 25, 2008

Slate: Much of the testimony that will be heard during the three days could not be corroborated by the Free Press in the ten days it had to run down each account.

Detroit Free Press, January 31, 1971

MATTERA: Could you sign the picture of the dedication the North Vietnamese created in helping–claiming you helped them win the war?

    KERRY: No. No.

MATTERA: Do you have any thoughts?

KERRY (puts hand on Jason’s shoulder): Who do you represent?

    MATTERA: Young America’s Foundation.

    KERRY: Ohhh.

MATTERA: Does it bother you that the North Vietnamese created a memorial dedicated to you?

KERRY: It’s not dedicated to me.

Slate: At the Communists War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, John Kerry’s picture hangs in a section dedicated to the anti-war activists who helped the Vietnamese Communists win the Vietnam War.

    End slate:

    Reputations ruined.
    Lives torn apart.
    Servicemen maligned.

We can’t let lies like Kerry’s go unchallenged again.
