Elizabeth Edwards, Now Fair Game...?

Elizabeth Edwards from an Dead-Air America show interview -questioning Rush Limbaugh's military deferment:

"My classmates went to Vietnam, he did not. He was 4F. He had a medical disability, the same medical disability that probably should have stopped him from spending a lifetime in a radio announcer’s chair; but it is true, isn’t it? If he has an inoperable position that allows him not to serve, presumably it should not allow him to sit for long periods of time the way he does. I think this is a serious enough offense for the people who fund him, who buy ads and allow him to be on the air, need to be asked if this is what they really stand for, do they think it is all right for someone who has never served to denigrate the men and women who have simply because they are expressing an opinion. Frankly, I thought that is what we are fighting for." (source)

This from a Today Show interview with Sily Pony:
Katie Couric asked him where he was during Vietnam. The exchange went like this: COURIC: Your military service, before we go?
EDWARDS: I - I did not serve in the military.
COURIC: You had a high lottery number, is that right?
EDWARDS: I did, and I came after - after the time that they were actually drafting from the lottery, Katie. I?m 50 years old. And because at the time I came along and graduated from high school and then - and then went to college, I was not drafted. [END OF EXCERPT]

"A high lottery number? Not exactly. Pulling number 178 in the February 1972 Selective Service lottery drawing, Edwards' number was lower than more than half of those picked. And what about the claim that he "came after the time that they were actually drafting from the lottery." That's not strictly true either. The year Edwards became eligible for the draft, the military drafted 49,514 men, according to Selective Service records - tapping draftees who had lottery numbers as high as 95. The draft was abolished in July 1973. But even that year, 646 young men born the same year as Edwards were inducted into the military.” (source)

Elizabeth can't pull the cancer card after this little bought of verbal diarrhea. Rush shouldn't have a job because of a disability? Should he have been sucking up SS all this time instead of paying millions into the tax system? He shouldn't have a job with a disability, but she can run for president with cancer and gets mad when anyone questions it? Sorry Elizabeth, the company requests that I take your cancer card and cut it up...

(I can't take credit for the "Cancer card" --it's from a GREAT book called Cancer Vixen. AWESOME book.)
