Would there be a countrywide revolt? A World-wide revolt for that matter? These are a few of the things the Hugo Chavez government has done in Venezuela. (source)
Yet, Hollywood and the American left embrace him. Why? Are they so blinded by their manufactured Bush hatred that they will cling to anyone that opposes him?
"...Hollywood star Sean Penn applauded President Hugo Chavez on Thursday as the Venezuelan leader lambasted the Bush administration and demanded an end to war in Iraq.
Chavez met privately with Penn for two hours and praised him as "brave" for standing up to the White House and publicly calling for U.S. President George W. Bush to be impeached.
"In the name of the peoples of the world, President Bush, withdraw the troops from Iraq. Enough already with so much genocide," Chavez said in an auditorium packed with his red-clad supporters.
Penn sat near the front, at times applauding and nodding in agreement. He is the latest in a series of celebrities who have come to visit the socialist leader, including actor Danny Glover and singer Harry Belafonte.
Chavez said he had lunch with Penn and discussed the question of "why the (U.S.) empire attacks Chavez so much?"
"The U.S. government is afraid, yes afraid that the people of the United States will learn the real truth," Chavez said, citing his social programs for the poor funded with Venezuela's oil wealth." (source)
When will at least ONE journalist that interviews Penn and his ilk present them with a list of things Chavez (or Castro for that matter) has done and have them defend their support. MoveOn, Sheehan, Code Pink and Penn can say whatever they want about Bush and have not been penalized for his --how can they denigrate the President and the country that allows them to do that to one that would throw them in jail if they did the same thing in Venezuela or Cuba? Has this honestly never crossed their minds?
