Hillary Proposes $10 Million for Glorified DayCare

Isn't it enough that school districts pretended the jump to full day Kindergarten was about education and not child care...but now we are supposed to foot the 10 million dollar bill for a "federal program to provide voluntary pre-kindergarten for all 4-year-old children in America."

"Our educational system needs to be strengthened from start to finish, but we have to start where it all begins," Clinton told an audience." (source)

I have taught Kindergarten countless times in 7 different "Blue Ribbon" schools, and I can tell you with 100% sincerity that though students are definitely doing more than we did in the 70's --it is still a giant play day. There might be an hour of learning in the curriculum sandwiched between tons of "workstations" (i.e. play centers), recesses and "free play" time. It could easily be accomplished in a half day with time to spare. This means that Kindergarten costs went from $5K per student per year to $11K for more recess.

And now we are supposed to stomach another $10 million...for what? Other than being a Government funded daycare, Head Start has been a colossal failure and we're already funding that. The money would be better spent on parenting classes for the moms and dads.
