UK Hostages: It's Bush's (Not Iran's) Fault...

I guess it was only a matter of time until the maniacal George W. Bush was blamed for the British military personnel being captured and held by the Iranians...

"GEORGE Bush's intervention in the Iran crisis could have lengthened - not shortened - the time the 15 British sailors are held captive, diplomatic sources warned yesterday.

Speaking over the weekend, the US President said their capture was "inexcusable behaviour". He said: "Iran must give back the hostages. They're innocent, they did nothing wrong, and they were summarily plucked out of waters."

Officially, the Government welcomed Bush's remarks. But behind the scenes there were fears his comments would make the Iranians harden their position as Bush is considered an arch-enemy.

Former Iranian diplomat Merhdad Khonsari said the comments were "unhelpful". He added: "The Iranian government does not wish to turn this into a hostage situation. Diplomatic action needs to be taken quietly and privately." Ex-Tory foreign minister Sir Malcolm Rifkind said it would have been "more noticeable" if Bush had said nothing." (source)

Fear not, America-bashing is a hobby in the UK...then they pull you aside after a night of "The USA Sucks" at the pub and ask you to marry them for a green card.
