Davido left a link for a post over a Kos... It seems they got a real live disgruntled soldier to join the gang.
There are so many brilliant, articulate milbloggers on the right -and when I saw the link I was hoping they'd found their equivalent. I' like to hear a succinct, coherent argument from a left-leaning troop...
The Post (not sure, he may be a regular there now) is lengthy and hard to read, but I read the entire thing and I'm not quite sure what to say.
First, I guess there is no real way we can know if this person is a soldier (but I guess the same could be said of many of the military posters), but I am struggling with what I really want to say here because I don't know if I can adequately put it into words without...oh hell, I'll just say it.
I feel like they want this guy because he sounds like the sub-par, undereducated guy they all claim the military is comprised of. I honestly have no idea what the point of the post is. I have no idea who he is mad at. Quite frankly, I don't think he has any idea either. The post and thoughts are so jumbled and disjointed. Katrina? Sectarian War? Loves the country by hates it because of Bob Ney? Special interest groups? Soft money?
This just felt all wrong to me --almost like this young solider (?) fit their agenda too perfectly. Inarticulate and mad. Dumb and duped. Now, this is not saying that someone being disgruntled makes them fake, but the boy covers ever talking point without once convincing the reader he actually gives a shit. He doesn't sound mad, he sounds coached. Coached in something he feels like he should care about, but doesn't quite get why.
Some people obviously came away with a very different view of "Adam the Soldier"'s post...This from a Kos Kid commenter:
"This is a primal scream of disillusionment and betrayal. It sounds like Adam has realized he put his life on the line for men who were not worthy of such sacrifice, and saw his friends die for a lie. I don't blame him for his rage."
