From The State of the Union...Healthcare Proposal

"Tonight, I propose two new initiatives to help more Americans afford their own insurance. First, I propose a standard tax deduction for health insurance that will be like the standard tax deduction for dependents. Families with health insurance will pay no income or payroll taxes on $15,000 of their income. Single Americans with health insurance will pay no income or payroll taxes on $7,500 of their income. With this reform, more than 100 million men, women, and children who are now covered by employer-provided insurance will benefit from lower tax bills.

At the same time, this reform will level the playing field for those who do not get health insurance through their job. For Americans who now purchase health insurance on their own, my proposal would mean a substantial tax savings – $4,500 for a family of four making $60,000 a year. And for the millions of other Americans who have no health insurance at all, this deduction would help put a basic private health insurance plan within their reach. Changing the tax code is a vital and necessary step to making healthcare affordable for more Americans. "

Apparently the Dems are saying this proposal is already DOA. Assholes. Finally something that would benefit me and mine from our piece of crap government that only rewards the drug-addicted, knocked up and non-working "victims"... Screw the self-sufficient, pro-active middle class...

We have been paying for our own health care for YEARS. First we were stupid enough to COBRA The Man's insurance when he left his job to start his own business. We were paying close to $700 a month. Then we wised up and shopped around and bought an HMO from Aetna -that was a little less, about $630/mo. Recently we switched to a PPO with higher deductibles, but we're down to $435/mo.

Considering big business (and Congressmen I'm sure) can write off golf outings and $30 Evian’s...It would be nice to be able to take this as a deduction considering we own our own business... So why "dead on arrival"? They're afraid more people will shop insurance and take control? They think it may snowball into taking socialized medicine off the table?

So what have the Dems done in their infamous first 100 hours? Raise minimum wage and taxes? What a shock. (source)

(Disclaimer: For those that were unsure, the picture above is Photoshopped and just meant to be funny --not to prove any political point. I don't think Nancy Pelosi actually has horns and a tail, but I could be wrong...)
