Porn Star Turned MP then Teacher...

Kali has a story posted that inspires a multi-layered debate...which The Man and I had last night.

Tericka Dye was homeless and suffering from bi-polar disorder (that was undiagnosed at the time). In a moment of down and out weakness (and quite possibly mania) she made a porno...under a pseudonym.

BUT, she got her life together. Enlisted in the United States Army and served as an MP. Then she went to college, got her degree and became a science teacher, a volleyball coach and a Christian.

Now the school has found out about her past and fired her.

"Tericka Dye's story is all too familiar. Like so many girls trying to make a living, she was young and needed the money. She was also homeless and struggling with bi-polar disorder. "I'm a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who's made a lot of bad decisions in life," said Dye.

...On Wednesday her boss, McCracken County Schools Superintendent Tim Heller, told her in a letter that she was being fired for doing something totally legal 11 years ago. "Your presence in the classroom would cause a disruption to the educational process," Heller wrote in a letter to Dye. "I fear there would be less than a serious approach to schooling by students who viewed the video or know about it."

On Wednesday Bonnie Chilcoat and some other parents pulled their kids out of class to attend a rally in support of the reformed starlet. "She's not the person she was 10 years ago," Chilcoat said. "We've all done things that we regret, except hers is on tape." (source1, source2)

WRONG! I said. The Man said if the students knew about the film, the school had no choice -how would she be respected? Especially in light of all the female teacher sex with students that has been going on (not that he agrees with that -just being devil's advocate).

She has served her country and is now serving the children of this country. We have a Congressman that was the Grand Klegal of the KKK...what's a little skin flick?

Am I way off base here?
