Da Vinci Code: Second Thoughts

The other day I posted about the outcry over the Da Vinci code -and about how I couldn't understand why so many were upset given the book/movie is fiction...

Mark Billings, who took the reigns for Rush yesterday, gave a viable argument for the outcry. A very good argument IMO. It wasn't so much about content --but about the ever blatant double standard in Hollywood, America and the world.

"Christians" are consistently painted as the intolerant citizens of America --the "American Taliban"... yet they sit back and take attack after attack. Think of the Danish drawn Mohammad cartoons and the outcry (rioting, deaths, etc.) over a CARTOON depiction --now imagine Tom Hanks decided to star in a Hollywood movie portraying an "alternative theory" about Mohammad...a theory where say instead of marrying 26 young girls, Mohammad married one man. Would that fly? How about an "alternative theory" about Martin Luther King? I could go on...

None of this would be tolerated. It would be banned and labeled heresy...yet we can keep on rolling out the "alternative theories" on Jesus --we can make him married with kids, we can make him sleeping with a prostitute, having gay relationships...etc.

Funny, I haven't seen one intolerant Christian burning down a theater, an embassy or even the flag of California...

Thanks Mr. Billings --you made me see the light ;)
