NOT! This article really annoyed me. There are people out there that are comparing the outrage over the Afghani man facing the death penalty for his 16-year-old conversion to Christianity to the rioting and arson over the Muhammad cartoons...
"The strong western response to a threatened death sentence for an Afghan convert to Christianity looks something like a mirror image of the Muslim reaction to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) caricatures printed in the European press.
There have been no riots or sackings of Afghan embassies, unlike the violence that marked the uproar in Muslim countries after the Danish cartoons were published, but the shock and mutual incomprehension expressed in both cases are similar." (source)
The article begins by saying that critics say the response to the case in Afghanistan has "thrown American foreign policy into question". I am pretty sure that critics have been saying that US foreign policy has been in question since GWB took office. Is it just me that doesn't quite make the stretch from cartoon to death sentence?
But on a lighter note, it seems that Muslims will be getting their own brand of jeans. They're high-waisted, loose fitting and have tons of pockets for all the gear that Muslim's carry: bottles, gasoline, TNT, fuses... Really, look at the story, I'm not joking (about the jeans anyway...).
