Things Besides the Oscars...

  • Hillary Clinton has been very outspoken about her opposition of the UAE ports agreement --and was probably feeling a little silly when she admitted that she had no clue hubby Bill was advising Dubai leaders on how they should be handling the bad PR over the deal (They were BIG contributors to the Clinton library). Ooops. That's what happens when married people don't talk...

  • Did you read about the Canadian soldier that was attacked by an Afghani with an ax while he screamed "Allah Ahkbar"? No, unfortunately it's not a joke... believe it or not, he's alive and waiting to be transfered to Germany. There was a sign that something was going to happen that the soldiers didn't think about until after the fact. The locals took all the children away about three minutes prior to the incident. **Take note to my friends currently in Afghanistan**

  • The ACLU is actively campaigning against "Abstinence-Only" education. Once again, I don't know why there is any education in schools about sex --isn't that a parent's job? Do I really want some badly dressed teacher that's in serious need of a mint and making $24K a year discussing intercourse with MY kid? The answer is NO. (And don't say some parent's don't step up to the plate, I shouldn't be penalized for the bad parents out there). The there's always the Democrats approach to sex ed... ;)

  • In response to a bill from Rep. Bill Hood that seeks to ban gay couples from adopting or acting as foster parents, Senator Bob Hagen has drafted a similar bill that would ban households with one or more Republicans from adopting or acting as foster parents. He acknowledges the bill is a tongue-in-cheek gesture, but hope it sends a serious message.

  • In an upcoming tell-all book, Jermaine Jackson admits Michael's a pedophile... "Jermaine described the Pop King as a sometimes out-of-control drug and booze abuser with a calculating mean streak and "a thing for young children." (source) He says that the only reason he supported him during the trial was a fear that Michael may commit suicide in prison.
