It's What's Going On...

  • Peace Activist Tortured and Killed in Iraq:
The torture and death of Tom Fox at the hands of those he was trying to save in Iraq should be an eye-opener to all peace activists. The people you have sympathy for would kill you without a second thought.

"More than 200 foreigners and thousands of Iraqis have been kidnapped since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Fifty-four foreign hostages are known to have been killed by their captors, Reuters reported.
Fox, 54, a Quaker from Clear Brook, Virginia., had been abducted with three other members of Christian Peacemaker Teams on November 26." (source)

I really don't mean to sound callous, but I really wonder if he was considering his "peace sctivist" ways and thinking as they were torturing him... Here is an interesting article concerning human shield Fox.

  • Muslim Speaks Out and Receives Death Threats:
Finally a "Moderate Muslim" speaks out...and confirming what many of us "right wing nut jobs" have said all along --she says that she is "questioning every single teaching of our holy book." (because there is no such thing as a Moderate Muslim -just a back-slidden one).

She did an interview on Al Jazeera:

"She said the world's Muslims, whom she compares unfavorably with the Jews, have descended into a vortex of self-pity and violence.

Dr. Sultan said the world was not witnessing a clash of religions or cultures, but a battle between modernity and barbarism, a battle that the forces of violent, reactionary Islam are destined to lose.

In response, clerics throughout the Muslim world have condemned her, and her telephone answering machine has filled with dark threats. But Islamic reformers have praised her for saying out loud, in Arabic and on the most widely seen television network in the Arab world, what few Muslims dare to say even in private." (source)

Because Sultan has dared to say what most of the Muslim world should be banding together to say --she is receiving death threats and fears for her family that is still in Syria. Religion of peace?

  • The DNC is Splintering -Let's Sit Back and Watch:
Hillary Clinton and Howard Ickes -with the financial support of George Soros- have virtually declared their "no confidence" in Howard Dean's leadership of their party. They have assembled a data compiling system that mirrors that of the GOP. If you can't beat them...copy them I guess.

"His project, dubbed the "Data Warehouse," is being bankrolled by Democratic fat cat George Soros, who poured millions of dollars into Ickes' "Media Fund" in 2004 in an unsuccessful bid to unseat President Bush.

The goal of the Data Warehouse is to identify potential Democratic voters who could be targeted as Election Day approaches in any get-out-the-vote effort.

Like Ickes, Mrs. Clinton is said to be concerned that liberal Democrats have failed to build the political infrastructure that Republicans and their conservative allies. have used to such great effect.

Meanwhile, feathers have been clearly ruffled over at DNC headquarters." (source)

  • Canada Aligning With the US and Israel?!:
"Canada voted against a controversial resolution on Palestinian rights at the United Nations yesterday, an early sign that the new Harper government is aligning its Middle East policy more closely with the views of Israel and the United States.

The previous Liberal government had abstained on the identical resolution last year. But on instructions from Ottawa, the Canadian delegation at the UN joined the United States to vote against a non-binding motion calling on Israel to allow all Palestinian refugee women and children to return to their homes." (source)

    I guess wonders never cease...
