No, don't worry, I'm not surprised... It's just that when arguing with the "progressives" they always want proof --they ask for examples of their treachery. And we never know how to answer because there's too much, it would take too long and we're conservatives...we have jobs...
Well, here's an example -a black and white example if you will...
Coretta Scott King's funeral. The prime event for the left to distort events and throw the tired, torn and tattered race card back on the proverbial table.
Bush eulogized Mrs. King and said some really wonderful things about her "making America whole". He treated the funeral as a memorial of a person's life -which is what a funeral is all about. Other's in attendance used the occasion to turn the death of Mrs. King into a bully pulpit and a Bush-bash session:
“It was difficult for them then personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the target of secret government wiretaps.” Later, [Jimmy Carter] said that Hurricane Katrina showed that all are not yet equal in America. (source)
“We know there were no weapons of mass destruction over there, but Coretta knew and we knew there are weapons of misdirection right down here,” Rev. Joseph Lowery said (co-founder of the SCLC), complaining that were far too many in the U.S. are living in poverty and without health care insurance. “For war, billions more, but no more for the poor,” Lowery continued, a take-off of a lyric from the song “A Time to Love” which drew a roaring standing ovation. The story should be about King's life --not the political undercurrent of the funeral.
After the funeral there were (predictably) republicans doing the news circuit saying that the political bloviating and Bush-bashing was inappropriate at a funeral (didn't Dems say the same after Reagan's memorial?) The Left couldn't miss this opportunity to knowingly misconstrue the statements...
This from Daily Kos:
"Oh lawdy, lawdy, lawdy Miss Mellie, I do decleah these Democrats are so ungenteel! Why, they were talkin' politics and singin' and dancin' and actin' all Negro and everything! I personally find it absolutely outrageous, OUTRAGEOUS! that Republicans are attacking Coretta Scott King and her family this way. Why, she is an American icon! How dare they! Do they really think that African Americans don't know how to behave at a funeral for one of their own? How very white of them."
"A party that doesn't have a single African-American member of Congress has no right lecturing black people about knowing their place. And you know that lecture they will." (source)
The "lecturing and criticism" has NOTHING to do with praise, amen’s, hallelujahs and clapping. Or what they are calling "acting black" and they know that. The lecturing has to do with turning the funeral of someone they supposedly revere into a Moveon.org rally.
I realize that Kos is bought and paid for by the DNC and it should be no surprise to find such blatant
