al-Qaeda Escape...

Al-Qaida operative Jamal al-Badawi (who was the the 'main guy' in the USS Cole bombing), among 23 others, have escaped from a prison in Yemen...

"Interpol has issued an urgent global security alert, known as an "orange notice."
Interpol's Secretary General Ronald Noble is calling on the agency's 184 member states "to take all relevant precautionary measures both at and inside their borders" and to help Yemen locate and capture the fugitives.
He said unless the fugitives are tracked down, they possibly "will be able to travel internationally, to elude detection and to engage in future terrorist activity." (source)

The terrorists escaped by tunneling out (approximately 180 yards) into a Mosque (or did someone make the tunnel into the prison from the Mosque…?)...

"The prison was underground in the headquarters, one of the most heavily guarded buildings in the capital. The compound is surrounded by a high wall and armed guards, and all roads leading to it are blocked to vehicles.
'It couldn't have happened without the coordination of high-ranking officers in the intelligence,'' said one official. He pointed to possible militant infiltration of the intelligence agency, saying hundreds of Yemenis who fought in Afghanistan in the 1980s against Russian occupation were given jobs with the security forces when they returned.
''It is no surprise that many of these former fighters are sympathetic to al-Qaida,'' he said." (source)

Omar al-Farouq, a top leader of al-Qaeda in Southeast Asia, is also on the loose after his break from Afghanistan's Bagram AFB.
I know it's redundant to say this...but I am confused as to why this isn't all over the news... A message from Osama, then one from Al-Zawahiri and now a major prison outbreak (seemingly orchestrated -or at least condoned- by Yemen officials) and no one understanding the gravity of the situation...
