Jews scared of christians?

I just finished reading a story that described a fear of the religious right that is being expressed by Jewish leaders...

""There is a feeling on all sides that something is changing," said Abraham Foxman, director of the New York-based Anti-Defamation League.

"The polls indicate a very serious thing -- that over 60 percent of the American people feel that religion and Christianity are under attack," he said on Thursday in an interview.

"Some are saying we are attacking (Christianity). This whole movement is not anti-Semitic or motivated by anti-Semitism. But sometimes unintended consequences are much more serious than intended" he added. (source

There are two reasons this bothers me:

1) If someone believes Christianity is being attacked and believes in family-first conservative values -this doesn't make them a Bible-thumping-Jerry Falwell-tent revival-card carrying-religious right member. Take this site, we have a huge range of conservatives from all over the country, and a wide age, education and income range and almost all the right leaning people here are quite South Parky. A large percent are atheists.
Maybe I just don't see it because I live in an urban area, but how big is this "religious right" contingent of the party. A lefty might put me in that group, but a real Bible-thumping-Jerry Falwell-tent revival-card carrying-religious right member would most likely hate that we shared the same party.
Therefore the basis of the article is flawed.

2) Most gentile conservatives I know are WAY more pro-Israel than most Jews I know. I don't get that, but it seems to be the case. Most of my Jewish friends (excluding the Orthodox) are sympathetic to the Palestinians. Go figure. To imply that the "religious right" would promote and anti-Semitic message is ludicrous...we are looking to protect the Judeo-Christian tradition. It may be the manger this year, but next year it will be the Menorah.

There are people that do get it, or the organization Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation wouldn't exist...
