Carnival of the Recipes #65

Apple Cheddar Melt

Ok, first rule, no wrinkling your nose before you taste it. I know it sounds odd, but it's really good!

What You Need:
Fresh baked bread of your choice (I used a garlic/pepper bread from my local bakery)
Sharp Cheddar Cheese
MacIntosh/Gala Apple
Butter
Fresh Basil (*optional)

What You Do:
Butter one side of each (generous) slice of bread (butter side down on frying pan)
Cover bread in cheddar cheese
Fan sliced appples over cheese (about 6 pieces)
Cover apples in Cheddar and basil*
Top off with bread and cook (med/low heat) until golden brown

(This is an adaptation of a Martha Stewart recipe -she may be a felon, but the girl can cook!)
