What The Sage is Doing Today...

...teaching her children about sacrifice and empathy today...
...exhausted...
...broke...
...and dumb because she should have just sent money --now she has to find a way to mail all the crap she bought...
...but she needed her children to understand and sending money doesn't affect them...
...watching her buy things for others and nothing for them and having them help make up school bags for others does affect them...

So we spent the morning shopping for school supplies. This entailed battling very large women that were shopping for their own kids who would slam you out of the way for a lousy glue stick. We spent the afternoon divvying it all up and packing it.

We are sending it all to Michele from A Small Victory who has painstakingly created a program that has trucking companies that are going to take school supplies from New York to Texas and people in Texas that are going to distribute these much-needed school supplies to the children displaced by Katrina.

KIDS OF KATRINA SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

If you have some extra time today or tomorrow... Please go over to Michele's place or email her and see what you can do to help out... (I know a lot of you weren't comfortable giving to the Red Cross...this is a great alternative...)
Just beware of women with giant hips on the glue aisle... ;)

Here are some additional resources (thanks Michele!):

****For those in the Philadelphia-area --I believe that Calvary Chapel has a truck going out to Texas and I will follow up on this information as soon as I can...
