Infectious Diseases

A few months ago Zelda raised the issue of a rise in infectious disease being linked to the growing influx of illegal aliens. She was promptly called a racist (which she is not)...but it seems that she was indeed correct. Health officials can't be 100% sure that the diseases are from illegal aliens, but considering legal immigrants are subject to health checks it's a fairly safe assumption.
Tuberculosis:
"According to a recent report by the state's Department of Health Services, California led the nation in the number of new TB cases reported last year, with 2,989. Three-quarters of those were among people born outside the United States and nearly one-fifth were younger than 16.
A study last month in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that foreign-born residents accounted for 8 in 10 cases in California that were resistant to multiple drugs." (source)
TB is extremely expensive to treat and a full round for a resistant strain could cost tax payers tens of thousands of dollars for one patient. But it's not just tuberculosis...Other highly contagious diseases are on the rise again in the U.S. -like polio and leprosy. Leprosy?! That right there is a good enough reason to close the border for me... limbs falling off for Chrissake...

"Americans should be told that diseases long eradicated in this country - - tuberculosis, leprosy, polio, for example -- and other extremely contagious diseases have been linked directly to (illegal immigrants)," Rep. J. D. Hayworth, R-Ariz.(source)

Reason #949 to get serious about our borders...
