Brace Yourselves...

...to ruin your Friday. And get really mad. And fantasize about doing unspeakably horrible things to the people that I am going to tell you about. And want to write emails and letters. But become so incensed that you can't form the sentences to do it.

There is a website run by a group that used to be called "Citizens Against the Troops" and is now "Forsake the Troops". Yes, you read that right. And yes, it's for real. (I hate even giving them this publicity...)
Here is their mission statement of sorts:
"This website is proudly dedicated to the notion that our nation's military is grossly overcompensated, at the expense of the American taxpayers-- these scumbags get pay and benefits tax free when in a combat zone. Granted, they're not on US soil when being paid for "services" rendered, but they are still US citizens, and still must pay taxes, just like the rest of us.

Our problem is this: the military is a lifestyle these morons chose. What idiot risks their life for a country? It's what they chose. Forsake our Troops! They must think that if they go to war, they don't need to pay taxes just......just like the rest of us. Let 'em die in combat-- we don't need their ilk!"source)

More disconcerting than that, at least for me, is the "Punk Soldiers" section of the site that features pictures of dead American military personnel and explains why we should be happy about each picture. This man that runs the page, Michael Crook, is American and lives in Syracuse, New York. The "Military News" section is also a page set up to mock the troops and each unfortunate incident that befalls them. (I am not linking these --it is your decision whether you want to look at them or not)

I am fully aware that there are extremes on both sides of the aisle...but I would bet anything that no one in this group leans right. I would rather have my extreme be too Christian or too traditional than...this... Many say that they 'Support the Troops' even when they "hate the mission" and "hate the Commander in Chief", but I have to wonder in their heart of hearts, when they are alone in their own heads, how many secretly feel the same as this group. What is the percentage of Americans that feel this way --? (This may just be some little crackpot contingent, but they are beginning to get media attention).

I know what is to follow smothers my Libertarian side, and I know that the reason that the military exists is to keep free speech in tact --but this, this is too much in a time of war. I know that we don't utilize 'treason' anymore, but if praising terrorists for killing our troops isn't aiding and abetting the enemy, then I'm not sure what is... Here is a Petition where you can express your feeling about Mr. Crook and his ilk. I can't stand the thought of these scumbags hiding behind the same Flag that they would gladly spit on!

Thank you to Keystone Soldiers who passed along this information --it was sent to them by the wife of a deployed soldier.
