"Street didn't invent the political culture that gave Philadelphia a reputation for selling its City Hall to the highest bidder. But he did nothing to curb it before this scandal broke - and precious little after it broke. Instead of getting ahead of the bad news, embracing reform, he's piled the sandbags higher around the fortress." (source)
This is a man that never repaid his student loans, who runs a pay-to-play city, who has surrounded himself with corruption, who is controlled with marionette strings by the labor unions, who plays the race card at ever turn and who looks like 'the Devil' in the 1995 movie 'Tales from the Hood'. But worse news is afoot in The City of Brotherly Love (meaning the brothership of labor unions --there is no love for honest hard-working independents)...the head of Local 98, the Electrician's Union, John Dougherty, has set his sights on the 2007 Mayoral race. At least the bull shit will be right out front. You know it's bad when the puppet masters feel free enough to come out from behind the stage...
"Street won't be running for mayor anymore. But other people will in 2007; some have begun raising money and currying favor already. The city, its budget and its taxpayers simply can't afford to pay four more years of the "graft tax" - the huge, but hidden costs of the favors and deals cut to repay political donors. Philadelphia simply can't afford another insanely expensive mayoral campaign conducted under the current, corruption-friendly rules." (source)
Thank you Mayor Street for this honor you have brought on our deteriorating city...and for carrying on the tradition of the decay of 42 years of Democratic leadership!
