The Baggy-Eyed Bolshevik Has a Bad Night!

…Have you ever seen anyone look more awkward smiling than John Kerry?

…he is Lumiere!....(The Melting Candle from Beauty & the Beast...)

Bush: “A plan is not a litany of complaints that you can’t pay for…5 trillion over 10 years…empty promise…bait and switch…”

Lumiere says that he will return to pay-as-you-go…that you will have to show how you will pay for everything….Does this mean our security?

Bush: “Rhetoric doesn’t match record…98 votes for tax increases over 20 years…voted against reducing taxes 127 times…”
“Pay-Go, to a colleague of Ted Kennedy, means you pay and he spends…”

Lumiere: “Being lectured on fiscal responsibility by him is like Tony Soprano telling me about law and order…” Bad analogy –Tony would know more about the law than any upstanding citizen….
“I don’t blame this administration for outsourcing…outsourcing happens…I have told union shop leaders there can be no stop to out-sourcing…”
…what? Hasn’t this been one of the major things you have campaigned on….?

Bush: “No one is playing with your votes…far left bank of the mainstream….Teddy Kennedy is the Conservative Senator from Massachusetts….”

Oh my God! He just outted Dick Cheney’s daughter on national television! I will give you all health care, college education, flu shots from my private stock…oh, and did you know Mary Cheney was a lesbo….WTF? It was bad enough when Edwards did it to Cheney’s face –but this…SO lame!....Post debate we find out from Mary Beth Cahill (who doesn’t need someone to out her) that Mary Cheney is ‘Fair Game’….

Once again The Candle melts all over the abortion question…what’s a good catholic boy to do to justify voting against the sucking out of infant brains….such a quandary for the former alter boy. Once again he goes over the one Bible verse that he knows and talks about words without deeds….This time the dolt says it in the same paragraph with ‘I am pro-life but won’t legislate that way…” *sigh*

…damn, Bushie didn’t call him on that –or on the 17% Medicare premium increase that KERRY voted for and CLINTON signed into law….

“ABC and CBS…oh, I mean ‘leading networks’ say that Bush is misleading about my mass government socialistic health plan….”

Bush: “Hillarycare-- Hillarycare….” (or something like that…)

Lumiere totally ducked the Social Security question…he basically says we’ll ignore and deal with it if it really becomes a problem…isn’t this one of the biggest Dem ‘talking points’?

Even Bob Schaeffer called him on it… “So you promise no changes and to leave the problem”…

Bush: “….has voted to tax Social Security more than one time…no plan to fix SS…’the rich’ pay 80% of tax load…middle class and low income relief…opponent voted against…”

The Melting candle obviously didn’t watch his Veep candidate on Chris Wallace’s show…he said, “…[Bush] cut after school programs and that’s just not in my gut…” but Silky Pont told Wallace that if their budget doesn’t add up—further cuts in these social programs would be the first things to happen….hmmm….

…he just tried to cover the ‘Global test’ statement with a ‘truth standard’…

YES!!!! Thank you Bushie…the Jedi Mind trick worked…. “In 1990 there was a VAST coalition (even SYRIA voted for the use of force) and KERRY voted AGAINST it…he can’t pass any test!” *This* is the part of Kerry’s record that he ‘can run, but can’t hide’ from…what a schmuck!

Lumiere relates a nice ‘hunting with a sheriff’ story to illustrate his point about ban on assault weapons…the only problem is the story took place a YEAR ago when the ban was still in effect… I demand the SAT scores for this man….

Bushie hits it out of the park with his ‘Faith’ answer. “Armies of the compassionate” (referring to faith based programs –loved by the Black community). The evangelicals that didn’t vote in 2000 are salivating… Kerry, of course, looks like he has spikes in his underwear as he attempts to answer this question –what a hypocrite…

When Lumiere talks about ‘marrying up’ I think this is the FIRST real smile I have seen from him…it’s still disturbing, but it was funny…funny because it’s true –and sad.

In The Candle’s closing statement he pledges that he will fight for America if he is President with the ‘same passion’ he fought with as a young man…THAT’S WHAT WE ARE AFRAID OF!!!! God help us… He will wage the War on Terror for four months before he pulls out and protests against it? Sheeesh… Did he just say…Grab your dream with me….who is advising this man?

Kerry won the first debate on style and Bush won on substance –Second debate I think Bush clearly won, but some say it was a tie –Third debate Bushie hit it out of the park…
Can I descend a bit and say that Thereeeeeesa looked like shit yet again…Can you imagine how horrific she would be without a billion dollars –if she is that disheveled with it! *eeewwww* Note to Tootsie…fire your plastic surgeon, stylist and wardrobe person immediately….

*Last night Rudy Guiliani said he took 8 pages of notes…I am embarrassed to say I took 18….

Someone must have yelled at the melting candle about saying "plan" so many times. Last time he mentioned "I have a plan" or "My plan" 40 times. Last night he mentioned it 9 times.

I started taking notes, but stopped after about 20 minutes. Dubya was so fantastic that I decided to just sit back and enjoy it.

I was very angry about 'da melter bringing Mary Cheney in to it. Since Edwards did it too, it is obviously some coordinated strategy. Did you see Lynne Cheney's remarks afterwards? She said " "The only thing I can conclude is he is not a good man. I'm speaking as a mom. What a cheap and tawdry political trick." Agreed Lynne.

Isn't it amazing that they think so little of the right, that they believe they can keep people from voting for Bush because Cheney has a lesbian daughter? Stunning.

And while I am ranting, what the hell is wrong with Shiny Silky Pony. People have to be "insane" to vote for Bush? If Kerry is elected, people like Christopher Reeve will WALK AGAIN????? Has that man lost his damn mind?????

Bob Schieffer was a disgrace as a moderator. He threw Kerry softball after softball and the Senator still stumbled. Here is my take.

Moderator: Senator Kerry; Do you have any cats?

Kerry: Yes Bob; and when I'm President I have a plan to save every stray kitten and rescue it from the cruel policies of this President where stray kittens are rounded up by John Ashcroft and Halliburton to be euthanized and ground into oil for his rich buddies down in Texas.

Moderator: President Bush; Why do you kill kittens and why don't they have flu shots?

President: Cats don't need flu shots and I've never been cruel to cats or any other animal for that matter.

Kerry: I have a plan where all cats will have flu shots. I was an alter boy and thats why I'll save kittens and protect a womans right to choose to dispose of her fetus and adopt a cat.

Let me get this straight...according to the Democrats, John Kerry's Military record is "OFF LIMITS", John Kerry's anti-American activities in the early 70's is "OFF LIMITS", John Kerry's Liberal voting record for 20 years, when he decided to show up in congress, is "OFF LIMITS", John Kerry's wife's finaces and tax records are "OFF LIMITS" but Mary Cheney's sexual preference is "FAIR GAME" ?

Most of America was going to vote for Bush anyway, definately the entire south. All Kerry is left with now is Penn, Cali, and NY and of course New England and Washington (state and district). He's electorally fucked now...gone...see ya...the momentum is on. He can't possibly come back. Bush woun't sit back, he'll keep clobering Kerry over and over and now I can say it. It woun't even be close, these few states can't make up for the whoopen Kerry is gonna take in the midwest and the south and a BIG chunk of the west. Bye Bye melting candle.

Come on fellow members of the vast consperacy

four more years...Four more years...Four More Years...FOUR MORE YEARS!

Brilliant summary, as usual. Since the MSM refuses to be fair and impartial in reporting these debates and their reports are often misleading, I find that I'm relying more and more on you for a summary. After he wins, I think W sure tell CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, The New York Times, and most of all, Helen Thomas, that he won't be answering any questions from them and that their White House press credentials are revoked.

Funny and pretty accurate.

Thanks Bigandmean.
If you think the MSM is shrill, divisive and derogatory now just imagine what the next four years will be like if the President is reelected. They'll make sure to sabotage Republican efforts of any sort and see to it that the world is really turned against us.

...Oh, I forgot a really important part of the debate...John Kerry told that story about his dying mother and her last words to him were "Integrity, Integrity, Integrity..."... Why would she need to stress this three times with her last breath if John Kerry HAD integrity...Obviously his own mother saw that he lacked the integrity to be President!

I was about to go to town on this when I decided to go to (the real fact check)

And I'll start out with my choice of candidate just to be fair:

"Bush could hardly have been farther off base when he said most of his tax cuts "went to low- and middle-income Americans." That's just not true.

Tax Policy Center recently calculated that most of the tax cuts -- 53% to be exact -- went to the highest -earning 10% of US individuals and families

And as for the "low- and middle-income Americans" Bush mentioned -- the bottom 60% of individuals and families got only 13.7% of the tax cuts, "

And that's true of a sort. Still missing a number 53% went to top 10%, plus appx 14% to the bottom, that's 67%, that means that 33% went to 30% of the tax paying population.
fact check cont: "The President came closer to the mark, but still got it wrong, when he said in the same breath that the top 20% of earners pay "about 80% of the taxes in America today." That's incorrect.

In fact, as we reported only that morning, the Congressional Budget Office calculates that the top 20% now pay 63.5% of the total federal tax burden, which includes income taxes, payroll taxes and other federal levies. It's true that the top 20% pays nearly 81% of all federal income taxes, but the president spoke more expansively of "taxes in America," not just income taxes."
In other words, the exact number isn't right, but I wanted to point this number to TWD and Lefty, when you are talking about people not paying their fair share. So, when 20% of the population pays 63% of all federal taxes and levies, how much more fair do you want that to be? Maybe the 20% should pay 80%? or 90%? which one of you said they wanted to be rich one day? Are you ready to pay your fair share according to these numbers?
Pell grants...
Kerry claimed the Bush administration had cut Pell Grants for low-income students to attend college. Bush said Pell Grants have been increased by a million students. Bush was correct.

Spending for Pell Grants grew from just under $8 billion in the academic year that was underway when Bush took office to nearly $12.7 billion three years later, a jump of nearly 60%. That's some "cut."

It is true that during the 2000 presidential campaign Bush promised to increase the maximum size of Pell Grants to $5,100 for first-year students, a promise that remains unfulfilled. The maximum grant has risen from $3,300 at the time Bush made that promise, but only to $4,050."
In other words, no cut and no decrease in funds, they just didn't increase as much as was planned.
Fact Check: Kerry claimed that "500,000 kids lost after-school programs," which isn't the case. A cut was proposed but Congress rejected it. The Department of Education's 2004 budget proposal called for a nearly 40% cut in funding for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program, or a drop of nearly $400 million from about $1 billion in 2003. According to a report by the Afterschool Alliance, "More than 550,000 children would lose access to afterschool programs." But even assuming that projection would have turned out to be correct, it never happened because Congress kept funding at about $1 billion."

Can we say fearmongering and Kerry doesn't have clue what he's talking about? Why wouldn't one of his people look this up? Because he knows nobody else will and he can keepit as a bludgeon even though it's faker than a three dollar bill in a whore house.
fact check:Bush stumbled when he denied making some remarks about Osama bin Laden that Kerry had accurately paraphrased. Bush accused Kerry of "one of those exaggerations."

In fact, Bush said almost exactly what Kerry quoted him as saying. It was in a news conference at the White House on March 13, 2002, after US forces had overturned the Taliban regime in Afghanistan:

Q (March 13, 2002): Mr. President, in your speeches now you rarely talk or mention Osama bin Laden. Why is that? . . .

Bush: So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him , Kelly, to be honest with you. . .

Bush: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban."
Fact check on Surpluses from the 90' I've said before, they were none existant: Kerry claimed Bush "has taken a $5.6 trillion surplus and turned it into deficits as far as the eye can see." But the country never actually had a $5.6 trillion surplus. The projected surplus Kerry was referring to was a 10-year figure that was already made dubious by a weakening economy and a pent-up Congressional urge to spend. The largest annual surplus actually realized was $236 billion in fiscal year 2000, which ended a month before Bush was elected."

Recycled Bunkum

Both men recycled a number of distortions and falsehoods that we've reported on before:

Kerry twice claimed 1.6 million jobs have been lost under Bush, which is 1 million too high.
Bush said that in Iraq "We'll have 125,000 troops trained by the end of this year," which is wrong. Actually, the security forces being trained are a "mixed bag" of soldiers, border guards and even three-week "shake and bake" police officers, according to House testimony by Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage.
Kerry again claimed "The jobs the president is creating pay $9,000 less than the jobs that we're losing," a fanciful figure based on industry averages that don't actually compare wages of jobs lost to those of newer jobs.
Bush claimed fear of lawsuits drives doctors to "the defensive practice of medicine that costs the federal government some $28 billion a year and costs our society between $60 billion and $100 billion a year," which is contrary to nearly all academic studies of the matter.
Kerry repeated that "I have a plan to cover all Americans" for health care. Actually, his plan wouldn't cover all Americans. It would increase the percentage who have coverage from 84% currently to an estimated 92% to 95%. But several million would still be left uninsured.
Bush again said Kerry "voted to increase taxes 98 times." But that total includes up to 16 votes on a single tax bill, and 43 votes on budget measures that set targets but don't actually legislate tax increases.

there we go...let's at lest argue with some valid information

What these CBO numbers show quite clearly is that the total federal tax burden has decreased for all income groups, though it went down more for the most affluent than it did for others.

Total Effective Federal Tax Rate

2004 Rates
Change Due to Bush Cuts
Income Bracket Tax Rate Decrease/Increase
Lowest 20% 5.2% -1.5%

Second 20% 11.1% -2.1%

Middle 20% 14.6% -1.9%

Fourth 20% 18.5% -2.1%

Top 20% 23.8% -3.9%

Top 5% 25.6% -5.2%

Top 1% 26.7% -6.8%

The share of the reduced overall burden has indeed gone down (again, on average) for the most affluent groups, mainly as a result of cutting the top rates and reducing taxes on income from dividends and capital gains.

Furthermore, the middle 20% pays a bit higher share, and the next-highest 20% saw their share of the total burden to up by seven-tenths of one percent. So the Kerry ad's claim is technically accurate if the "middle class" is defined as the 40% of the population making up the middle and fourth income quintiles.

It is also true, however, that the share of total federal taxes paid by the least affluent Americans -- those in the bottom 40% of earners -- has also decreased a bit. Kerry doesn't mention that, even though many of those persons also consider themselves "middle class."

And the overall system remains progressive, with upper-income groups paying significantly both higher rates and a higher share of the overall burden than lower-income groups.

Share of Federal Tax Burden

Income Bracket Share Increase/Decreas e
Lowest 20% 1.1% -0.1%

Second 20% 5.2% -0.2%

Middle 20% 10.5% +0.2%

Fourth 20% 19.5% +0.7%

Top 20% 63.5% -0.6%

Top 5% 35.9% -1.5%

Top 1% 20.1% -1.8%

For example:

The middle 20% of the population now pays 14.6% of their income for all federal taxes. That's a reduction of 1.9 percentage points as a result of the Bush cuts. And that group now pays 10.5% of all federal taxes, an increase of 0.2 percentage points.
The top 1% of the population pays a much higher rate -- 26.7% of their income goes to pay federal taxes, on average. That's 6.8 percentage points less than they would have paid under the tax rules in effect when Bush took office, so Kerry's ad is quite right to say "the wealthiest are paying less." And their share of the total tax burden did also drop by 1.8 percentage points. But this most affluent one percent still pays more than 20% of all federal taxes.
The lowest-earning 20% of the population now pays only 5.2% of their average incomes in federal taxes, down 1.5 percentage points due to the Bush cuts. This bottom group pays only 1.1% of all federal taxes, and their share of the burden dropped by 0.1 percentage point.
Whether the rich should pay higher rates or a bigger share than they do now is, of course, a matter of opinion. And the choice between the candidates is clear on that point: Kerry states he would reverse Bush's tax cuts for those making over $200,000 per year and grant some additional, targeted cuts to those in middle-income groups, while Bush would make his cuts permanent rather than allow many of them to expire as scheduled under current law.

But the fact is, all income groups are paying a lowered tax burden this year under the Bush cuts, the "middle class" included.

***************************************************** let me add my 2 pennies in here. Where were any of these tax cuts during Mr. clinton's presidency when he was telling us we had a "surplus"? Where is Mr. Kerry's bill sponsoring a tax cut for even the middle class in the last 20 years? Was that under Reagan as he claims? where was he when there was a surplus estimated in the 90's? He didn't seem particularly interested in giving us tax breaks then. Frankly, he doesn't sound too interested in giving anymore, either, just taking some more from those he classifies as "rich". how about just taking some more from the Filthy, filthy rich Sen., which you are a member of and would be those folks that make over 1 million/year as personal income. Sounds about right to me

That 98 votes for tax increases isnt the truth according to 43 were for budget bills to set target levels for spending and taxes in the coming fiscal years. Also 35 of those votes were on four bills which means that Kerry voted 22 times for tax increases in 20 years.
He didnt "out" Mary Cheney she has never hidden the fact that she is a lesbian so you cant out someone who isnt hiding the fact.
Yes he said pro lifw wont legislate that way- good if you make it illegal to perform abortions does that end abortion? No it doesnt it means rich people can go to canada and easily get an abortion and that poor people would have to go to an unsanitary, dangerous place to get an abortion. Bush never said if he would overturn roe v wade if he belives so strongly about it why doesnt he just say so rather than using code like culture of life and dread scott?
Bush's plan for SS is to allow young people to take their money out of SS??? How is that a fix? That reduces the amount of money in SS at a time when money is most needed (with the ageing of the baby boomers) and introduces market instability?
Kerry didnt try to covero cover the "‘Global test’ statement with a ‘truth standard’…" he said it was a truth standard the first time if you had bothered to listen to what he said which was "But if and when you do it, Jim, you've got to do in a way that passes the test—that passes the global test—where your countrymen, your people understand fully why you're doing what you're doing, and you can prove to the world that you did it for legitimate reasons." Seems like a truth standard to me.
Um so serving your country in vietnam makes you less qualified then the guy who stayed in the guard in order to avoid serving his country in vietnam? Also what history book claims that the vietnam war was great and noble war were no americans commited atrocities? Personally I'd rather have a president that ackowledges the truth however unpleasent and then actually does something about it to a president who cant ackowledge the truth that we needed more troops on the ground, needed to guard ammo dumps and needed to guard the nuclear development sites in iraq especially given his belief that there were wmds there. Oh and when the editor of the weekly standard says that the president lost the debate he did indeed lost the debate.
