At first I thought it was a reference to yellow cake uranium.

I should say that for anyone who doesn't know what this is...go and rent 'Dressed to Kill' by Eddie Izzard. I PROMISE you will not regret it. This is the BEST stand-up comedy routine EVER (and don't worry, I doubt it's a 'conservative' thing as he is an executive transvestite).....

Ala71,
Amazing! We've watched that video so much I can't bring myself to refer to the Heimlich Manuever as anything but a gesture. I think Jen has it memorized.

...waiting for your thoughts on the latest terrorist incident in Russia, and how the press seems to be subtly trying to couch the heinous atrocities committed as singular to Russia, and not really part of the actual global war taking place...

Ghost-Actually that's what I was going to post on...I have to get some things together on it though (and blogging seems to take a back seat on the weekends) so I thought I'd save it for Monday. There are so many thoughts surrounding that...people don't get it and it prevents me from being even-headed about it --actually where the whole 'Cake or Death' thing stemmed from...

I will stand proudly in solidarity with Russia in ANY of THEIR efforts to fight those groups that align with al-Qaeda. If they want to attack their attackers, I will not slander them as "cowboys" or "reckless" or "arrogant". If they run an idea by the U.N. as a possible use of force against whatever terrorist state is harboring their attackers, I will lobby our representatives to that body to NOT stand in their way, and possibly to even commit troops to their Coalition--if they build one.

It will annoy the hell out of anti-war liberals but it needs to happen. We can set this example.

Cake..I want cake...but not the marie antoinette cake, thank you. LOL

Cig smoker...yep, the "rebel freedom fighters" have turned into terrorists. Time to take the gloves off (although, I sincerely think Russia hasn't had them on for awhile), however, I think Russia needs some military advisors from our Green Berets and Civil Affairs units. They are really good at killing people and not very good at making friends with the locals.

They've been trying to smash these groups for almost 10 years and they are going to have to change tactics.

Unfortunately our career diplomats are spending more energy slamming Putin for alleged human rights abuses in Chechniya than supporting him in fighting the same enemy we're fighting.

Y'know, the Russians weren't very nice to the Nazis either, but that didn't mean we were going to do without their help in World War II.

And now the al-Qaeda scum are holding two French hostages in Iraq.

Pretty soon we're all going to realize that rather than snipe at each other, we non-Muslim nations are going to have to unite, and unite closely, in working to neutralize the al-Qaeda threat. No more "freedom fries", no more anti-U.S. protests in Europe, no more Germans hating us more than the terrorists, but all of us shoulder to shoulder SUPPORTING each other's unilateral efforts when they see it necessary to carry them out, and then working from there to build multilateral efforts in ways that actually make sense (rather than toothless blue-hatted groups that don't even load their weapons).

Cig Man,
I agree completely about the non-muslim countries need to unite but I'm not sure it's going to ever happen. I think the left in this country knows deep down how wrong they've been on this issue but I don't think they'll ever admit it.
